  1. Would've been a great fit for us... Once again Saints on the ball and making all the moves. Well and truly passed us imo.
  2. Well technically that's still good grounds to blame the club.
  3. Phillips is absolute rubbish. Why aren't we focussing on what we actually need instead of 'Break glass in case of Emergency' players. The only Phillips we should be targeting atm is Tom... FMD
  4. My concern is that Greg Stafford seems to be playing musical chairs with his role at the club. First came in as Ruck Coach, then migrated to Goal Kicking Coach, now he’s our Forward Coach. I guess if we throw enough chit at the wall eventually it’ll stick?
  5. All you can do is laugh.. 1. How good is free agency... & 2. We're far from a destination club once again.
  6. Can someone please explain to me how the heck we are struggling to fit Ben Brown within our salary cap? We must have a side full of superstars..... fmd
  7. I agree with @Demon3 .. I reckon the saints have a very complete list.. can’t think of many, if any holes. Considering how many players they recruited last year, the “taking a while to gel” nonsense that gets overused here didn’t seem to affect them. They will consolidate this off season & push for a top 4 finish next year. Our trading has been very reactive of late & we seem to be behind the pace of most clubs.
  8. A 66 point defeat in a prelim followed by 2 substandard seasons says otherwise. Not sure what’s in the water from where you’re from but we’re MILES off winning a flag.
  9. Yep.. When you watch sides like tonight play you wonder whether we will ever have what it takes to win a flag..
  10. Yze becoming our head coach half way through the season.
  11. Is it just me or does Alastair Lynch gasp for air between sentences way too much? Sounds like he’s about to cark it.
  12. The dees would’ve breathed a massive sigh of relief
  13. Melbourne are the only side that fall to pieces when they have a spot in the finals on the line. Saints, who many saw as a bottom 6 side at the start of the year, dug in & demolished the previous gf runner up to sow up their spot. We absolutely [censored] the bed in our 2 games, similar to what happened a few years ago against the pies in the last round. The Dogs will put it all on the line & they will get it done. This week has been a media wanc fest over us keeping the fire burning, having it all to play for blah blah blah. The plot should’ve been focused on how we blew it & the last win against essendon is just rubbing salt in our wounds. stuff you melbourne
  14. Opposition who don’t bring intensity & effort suit our style of play.
  15. He plays like a millionaire. Doesn’t do the basics anymore which is what he did so well in his debut season. Has put his feet up after signing a contract.
  16. I dunno.. I reckon he was just annoyed that he was asked considering i think he indirectly answered 'yes he will be already' in his other responses.
  17. It was a very simplified reason as to why we're not winning games of footy. It runs much deeper than just having lapses of concentration for a quarter. Goodwin has been saying for almost 2 seasons now in his post match conferences that we're working hard to get that right. The next questions should've been, "why in 2 years have the club not rectified that problem"? and "what are they doing to rectify it"? On face value it sounds like Goody will be head coach next year. Unless we finish the season on a high in our next 2 matches, it will be very hard to build support and optimism heading into 2021. Over to you Goodwin.
  18. I'm going to assume you are taking the [censored]!!!!! The bloke is so far past it.. we might as well get Mick Malthouse if you think John Worsfold has it in him.
  19. The match tonight will go one of the 2 following ways: 1. We will fall over the line in a close, ugly and uninspiring match. The players will act as if they've just won the flag and the club will tell us how we're building momentum. The supporters will roll their eyes, and go to bed with an empty and soulless feeling. 2. We will lose in a close, ugly and uninspiring match. The players will seem disappointed but ensure that we've improved in certain areas and reiterate that if we didn't have a mental lapse for those 15 minutes we would have won. Goodwin will tell us that while he's disappointed we didn't win, we're not far off. The supporters want to be angry but can't be f'd, the call for Goody's head intensifies.
  20. We veered off what I was initially trying to say. When these players have down days (and trust me, they certainly have OFF games), the fringe players lift and play their part to get their team across the line. We are not a 22 man squad. We are a lets pray Trac, Clarry and Gawny are ON today otherwise we're screwed
  21. Yeah but my point is that they are likely to make as many if not more turnovers than guys like Petracca. You specified that you need to be hitting targets more frequently to be considered A Grade. These guys throughout a game are more likely to miss more targets than Tracc. The reason they are superstars, is because they have MORE support around them. The fringe players that do their part. Our fringe players were basically ball watching last night. p.s. Dustin Martin has the most clangers in the comp
  22. ohhh but they do.. I thought it'd be interesting to have a closer look at avg disposal efficiency stats across 2020. It's very interesting.. Adam Treloar: 56.3% Trent Cotchin: 59% Luke Parker: 60.2% Patrick Dangerfield: 61.7% Tim Kelly: 62.9% Jack Viney: 65% Marcus Bontempelli: 65.4% Steele Sidebottom: 65.7% Dustin Martin: 66.2% Patrick Cripps: 66.9% Angus Brayshaw: 68.2% Christian Petracca: 68.5% You can decide which ones are "stars" or not.
  23. Do you watch much of other teams with these so called "stars" .. The Martin's, Fyfe's, Bont's, Cripps, Dangers' of this world are some of the BIGGEST clanger kings going around. It doesn't seem to hinder their teams ability to win games.
  24. Our fringe players are woeful even in our wins. That's the problem.
  25. It's not the worst idea. Although it HAS to come down to not being coached / set up correctly around stoppages. Protecting teammates and space is clearly not instinctual from our players. It's see ball get ball and wanting to be the hero. This is a coaching and building good habits fail. Goodwin and the midfield coaches have had years to get it right to no avail.
