  1. Maybe, maybe not but I think we both agree that they need more than one trick. I would love someone like the 3 you mentioned with us and just noticed 'Nashers' post above on Watts, I think he does have the ability to crumb the ball forward as he's shown before. A 196cm small forward would create some problems, he has the speed, skill and awareness.
  2. This is exactly what I'm getting at, the 3 you've mentioned plus Ballantine, Wingard and the like, that's what we need. It's the Carlton and St Kilda type we don't need...whether it's the player or the club development but players like Betts and Garlett, Saad, they don't give enough and when they are covered they don't have a plan b.
  3. Don't know much about Michaliadis but Banfield has shown nothing to say he can play through the midfield. ...but it's really the idea of us needing a small crumbing forward that I have a problem with, I think it is a waist of a position and with interchange restrictions due next season it will be an obsolete position if it's not already. We need players who can accumulate the ball, set up and kick goals work hard up the ground, that counts out a lot of if not all names mentioned on this thread. Saad, Garlett, Betts, Yarran, even Milne no thanks.
  4. Don't agree, the permanent crumber role has gone with the idea of having 6 forwards and 6 backs. The elite sides in the competition don't use them.
  5. NO
  6. NO NO NO NO! Small forwards are a waist of time, surely looking at Carlton you can work this out. Check out Geelong they don't have one, they have a number of players who rotate through the midfield and work as what you would call high half forwards, Motlop is the classic here. Ballantine at Freo is another as is Wingard at Port, Bruest and Rioli at Hawthorn. Garlett, Betts and this type of player are no use unless they have more strings to their bow this is one reason Carlton are such a one dimensional team. Get midfield types who can get there own ball and kick goals.
  7. Nice kick and hits up targets but doesn't have the depth of kick that Hodge has. Dean Kent does and he has the mongrel to go with it.
  8. Haven't seen Dunstan yet but Sheed looked very impressive, also want to have a look at Kelly. ...anyway on Jimmy T if their careers stopped now Wines would be streets ahead but that's not how it works. The recruiters led by Todd Viney seemed to get a lot right in 2012 and Todd knew a lot about both Jimmy and Ollie so my guess is he picked well and for a good reason unless of course he was over ruled. Jimmy T is up and running now with the change in game plan more likely to suit his free running style, I would expect him to be playing some really good footy before the year is out.
  9. Contracted or not Silvia is the only free agent. The rest stay or there is a stand off and they stand out of football, now the AFL can't afford that to happen so unless we have any Tippett deals in the background they stay or we get an appropriate trade. Like for like...promising 22yo with great skills 60 games experience yet to reach potential, who mirrors that at another club. Maybe Swallow at the GC, good kid but not reached his potential, they might offer??? Key position AA full back 25yo 100 games etc. Who can match that? If Richmond want Frawley then the appropriate trade is Riewoldt or Delidio, they would offer someone like Edwards We don't go for nqr players like someone suggested with Robinson. The right offer and we consider otherwise they stay. It's important we don't roll over on this.
  10. mmmm...don't remember that original statement at all, but I do remember Watts was dropped after that game and kept as an emergency for the next. I think it would have been better for him to play a game somewhere and I don't think he should have been dropped in the first place. He was dropped not injured.
  11. I'm not sure how you get dropped because of injury??? you are either injured or omitted, Jack was omitted. If Watts wasn't playing better football now than 3 years ago something would be drastically wrong, it's part of his growth in the game. Whether he should be playing better football is the debate. I just didn't like what seemed to be him being made an example of, Jack just doesn't need that. If he's crook or injured then say it and leave him out.
  12. That is bad player management in itself if true.
  13. This I find an urban myth based on a total cop out. He was set up on that QB debut but surely that can't be used as an excuse anymore, he has a coach now who has not handled him well at all. Dragging Watts (he was not the worst that game) was always going to draw focus on a kid who did not need it, then dropping him and have him hang around without a game. This is poor player management and Neeld finally lost me with this.
  14. We can get 'Sat' to turn out the lights when everyones gone...
  15. I think Taggert is a similar type player and I like the look of him more, Trengove and Grimes are others. If we get Wines we have another. Need to look at some good outside running ball getters, MacRae, Haynes, Garlett, Kennedy would be a better bet.
  16. Exactly!
  17. Like Essendon did when they asked for Hurley last year, and like last year Caddy won't get to where he wants to go. He is not a free agent, either a satisfactory deal gets done for GC (Wellingham will not be it), he stays or takes his chances in the PSD.
  18. Minimum ask will be Beams.
  19. You can guarantee GC will be looking after themselves, don't worry about that. They will be wanting Beams, Pendlebury or Thomas or no go from them. Remember last year they wanted Hurley from Essendon and the deal fell through. Caddy will go to whoever can offer GC the best deal, not who Caddy wants to go to. As for Adelaide, if they get pick 2 for Tippett my bet is they will pick up Toumpas and not Grundy, would guarantee it with Ox's 98%.
  20. We have a big bodied kid who didn't get on the park much this year in Taggert, strong mark, good kick, think he will be a ripper and at pick 30 ish..... Just saying.
  21. Maybe his mind is in different place at the moment. He seems to get a lot of raps, I just don't see it. Has the emperor got no clothes or can he really play?
  22. I'm with you Ben, I've not seen a lot of Caddy but from what I have I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Would rather keep pick 13 and use it wisely.
  23. Not sure about Caddy, hasn't really set the game on fire and have to agree with the post about this draft and the available talent at least in the first round. We also have Rory Taggert who is already a bigger body, good pace but yet to play senior football, good skills, elite kick. Would Caddy cost us someone like Stringer? Just thinking aloud with a keyboard, dangerous habit at this time of night.
  24. They have a kid called Smith who will be a top line ruckman, I wouldn't think it's high on their list and if it is they will have first shot at Grundy.
  25. F/S is done before trade period Pennant, pretty sure another club will bid for Danniher, maybe even us so they will be forced to use their first round pick. We are in the box position for Caddy if we want him.
