  1. Ro Bail name hasnt been thrown around. What are your thghts on putting his name on the table?
  2. Calm down chap. Contracted players are commonly traded, sometimes the team they leave end up paying some of the contract to play for the team they go to as part of the deal. Juss sayin!!!
  3. Cool story bro Stop hating and dont click on threads i start. Simple. Now run along. That aside i think a tapscott for caddy would benefit both gc and mfc. I also think morton has more value then people give him credit for. A few clangers and he is on mfcs most hated list. I think he would def be worth at least a late 2nd round pick.
  4. Tapscott for Caddy
  5. I am aware of this, though I think its sometimes good to explore other options. Could be a great trade out there which could land Beams for example. Or maybe we could trade for Wellingham, or get Betts as a small forward without using our high valued picks. Surely there are some players who fit in between the 'Cant Trade because of culture' and the 'Cant trade because of no value' lines. I would put Tapscott in that area
  6. Ok guys, I wanted to see who people thought would be good trade bait this year. At the moment it seems to be 2 reactions going on 1. Person 1 : Trade Petterd, Bate and Dunn Person 2: No one will want them!! and 2. Person 1: trade trengove, Magner and Blease Person 2: You idiot! why would we want to lose them! what about culture?? So I wanted to see what players people actually thought would be realistic to trade and who for. Who are the players who fit in between the above 2 options and are both wanted by other clubs, and will not hurt our culture by losing them? Personally I think Blease (For an u17 pick) and Magner (Pick upgrade) would make good trade bait, both are valued MFC players that could be used by other teams and at the same time we can do take the hit of losing them. For trade scenarios to work, I wanted to see which players people thought would be feasible. We need to be prepared to lose something to gain something in the trading game!
  7. We need a thread for trade bait. I am keen to see who people think should be put on the table outside of those with no value like the Bates, Bennells and Petterds. I honestly think that Magner is a good player who has value and we can do without. I am keen to see what players other posters think realisticly other teams would be interested in without us taking to much of a hit.
  8. I see Magner as being an inbetweener. His not quite as effective as Jones as an aggresive Mid, though at the same time is not quite as good as Mckenzie as a tagger. I just think he has value though we wont take a big hit on losing him. Bate, Dunn, Bennell ect are in the pure delist pile.
  9. With a scenario like this it makes it worth looking at. Keep Magner, Delist Evans Trade Magner, keep Evans and get a pick upgrade.
  10. Having a balance is important. We see teams get caught out all the time when they don't have one. Look at Carlton who have no fit KPF. They're kicking it to Betts!
  11. Here are 2 options for making room on our list, one includes Magner. (Ignoring Green as he is on Vets list) Option 1 Delist - Bennell, Lawrence, Spencer, Petterd Option 2 Delist - Lawrence, Spencer, Petterd, Bennell Trade - Magner, Option 1 we keep Magner Option 2 we end up keeping Evans, and upgrading a pick List management may think that Evans could be a better fit going forward, though no other teams are willing to take him and we get to upgrade a pick.
  12. Did you just change your criteria from having 'heart, hard work and ethic', to 'playing every game of the seniors exept one?' as your argument to keeping Magner? Did you want to add anything else to this criteria before I bother responding or will you just change it again when i do. I am sure the list management team has a criteria that they need to follow in terms of balancing it. Not perfect but as close to as possible that they could probably have gotten it.
  13. I am with you, few good mids from the draft, maybe pick up a Cloke or Goddard with our spare cash. I think that if we want to trade players then these players need to A: Be performing reasonably well B: We can lose them and not take a big hit. I think Magner falls into this category. Like everyone else I would prefer to use the Bates, Mortons, Bennells and Dunns but unfortunately they do not satisfy the 'A' part of the above.
  14. Lawrence also shows heart, hard work and ethic. Lets keep him to. We need results, not just heart, hard work and ethic. We have always have had these types of players and always will. We are 16th for a reason and we have as much heart as any other club.
  15. Just like people who thought drafting Junior Mac were deluded? GWS would jump on a player like Magner. Good body, low cost and has quite a few years in him.
  16. I wouldn't rate Magner as being 'the best we have' We need to put players on the table who can perform but we can do without. I see Magner as being one of those. Cash is good for free-agents. Picks are good for getting players like Beams and Co Magners are good for upgrading picks to get better quality in the draft. Could even be good to help score us an u17 as GWS need some bigger bodies.
  17. Most threads these days ends up having the bulls and the bears. The ones who want to be aggressive in the trade game and try to get the best, then you got the ones who like to be conservative and stick with what we have. At the moment I am in the first group as we are ranked 16th with 2 wins. If we were higher up the ladder then maybe I would be the latter but at the end of the day, Magner is a player in a terrible team who plays the same role as half a dozen other players in the current team and I think our list needs a realistic overhaul.
  18. Upgrade our round 3 pick perhaps Or late round 2 pick for our round 3 + magner
  19. I think Couch will be everything that Magner is. Just dosn't have as much trade value.
  20. I cant see him being part of a premiership side to be honest. I seriously just see him as a fill in a gap player while we bottom out.
  21. I forgot about Howe, though his versatility makes it more feasible. Dunn, Bate and Morton are medium talls while Viney Wines and Toumpas are more grunt mids. (Not sure on Toumpas's height) They are different types of players though if guys like Howe and maybe Garland get a bit more flexibility I guess they can fill the gap. But then if they go down injured...
  22. I have seen him play and I think he is a gun. He can actually turn a game around and I admit it. That said how many games has he had in the last 2 years? The guy is worse then Jurrah in terms of injuries. I would rather have someone fit, who isn't as good but can at least get on the park and improve. Remmeber, every week Evans is injured is another week we could have someone else on our list improving.
  23. I honestly dont see how thats possible though. Example Freo: we ll pay you 350 per year Melb: we ll pay you 350 per year Freo Recruiting: Hmmm pay 360 a year or pay 350 year and give up a 2nd rounder. Think the extra 10k is worth it Melb: 360 a year Freo: 400k a year Melb: 400k a year Freo: 450 a year Melb: 450 a year (overs) A: Freo will just keep going higher to make us pay overs and to avoid having to give something to Melbourne B: Melb will just let him go as they dont want to pay overs
  24. Just get him, by the time our other players need more coin Goddard will be gone. Good way to look at it is to see him as reserving the funds for future pay rises.
  25. We need to recruit players who can play similair roles to Bate, Dunn and Morton if thats the case to maintain balance.
