Seems we will have significant negotiating power if they want to get all their other deals done.
  2. This. We track players we are keen on and given we have looked to add midfield depth recently it wouldn't surprise to see us have a look here. Can't see how Brisbane gets both father/son prospects and dunkley without trading out a couple players on top of losing McStay and possibly Gardiner. Bulldogs won't be happy with a late first round pick for Dunkley.
  3. No surprises here with Hill officially requesting a trade to the Pies. Small forward confirms wish to head to Magpies - https://www.afl.com.au/news/846192 For a club that's allegedly under salary cap pressure they are pretty active in recruiting players with Frampton and McStay both set to join the Pies as well. Grundy must be a near certainty to be a dee.
  4. Southport should be in the AFL instead of the Suns. Actual club with history, established supporter base and jumper that doesn't induce nausea.
  5. Good win Casey. Glad to hear the seniors were all there to support them. Premierships are special at any level.
  6. Without knowing contract details I would look at Flanders and Hollands with Flanders the more realistic one they might consider. Will Powell is coming off that nasty leg injury but if the Suns wanted to move him on (doubtful) I would look at him subject to a medical.
  7. The interesting part will be to see how they manage the transition of their midfield. Selwood, Duncan, Guthrie, Paddy, Smith are 30+ and provide experience and consistent performance. Next rung down is Parfitt, Narkle O'Conner who are clear downgrades. Cooper, Knevitt, Bruhn* have had limited exposure and will be inconsistent for a number of years still. Holmes has performed well but is receiving protection from their experienced hands. You can see why they were targeting Hopper, who at 25, would provide experience and consistency. I watch and hope for their downfall but have learnt not to hold my breath.
  8. I haven't watched this game yet but I've liked what I've seen of Oli Hotton this year, particularly through the champs.

Perhaps a chance to acquire him and Grundy? We need more than two ruckman on the list and would be nice to have one that's developed and ready to go in case of an injury to either Gawn or Grundy. Better than an 18yr old draftee that needs 4-5 years and wouldn't be able to physically compete. However I can't see him going for it as I presume he wants more senior time. Perhaps we should be scouring lists for a ruck that's 21/22 that might want to serve as an understudy to Gawn and Grundy. TDK anyone?
  10. The price of Lobb and Rioli, how will Dunkley 'domino' fall? https://www.afl.com.au/video/842743 Stated here at around the 4.20 mark.
  11. Cal Twomey stated yesterday there is zero chance Kozzie leaves Melbourne this year. Hope we can re-sign him in the off-season otherwise it will be another Jackson-like season to endure.
  12. He's 196cm according to the man himself from the road to the draft podcast he featured on. Probably still growing as an 18yr old.
  13. Sheezel, Wardlaw and Tsatas would all be in the mix, but you're right in that Cadman to North is a real possibility.
  14. Information in this article update is consistent with what @Demon3has been stating re our compensation request. UPDATE: Demons ruck requests trade to WA club - https://www.afl.com.au/news/842339 "But now the Demons will be locked in trade talks. If he chooses Fremantle the reigning premiers would be expected to target two first-round picks for Jackson, including a top-10 pick this year." "The Dockers hold pick 13 in this year's draft, but could look to move up the draft board using other selections, with the club bracing for trade requests from Rory Lobb, Blake Acres and Darcy Tucker, with Griffin Logue also considering a move to Victoria." "West Coast holds picks No.2, 20 and 26 this year but as AFL.com.au reported in May, would need AFL approval to trade its first pick under League rules. The AFL would be expected to tick that off given Jackson’s age and experience."
  15. Would be on our untouchable list I would imagine. To even get us at the table for a contracted kozzie they would need to be offering up Georgiades or Butters + pick 8.
  16. I get what you're saying but there's no reason we can't look to the future while we challenge in the present. Genuine key forward talents are hard to come by, both via the draft and on the trade market. If you can get yourself in a position to set up your key forward pillars for the next 10 years (JvR and Cadman) then you would be negligent not look at it. Of course I wouldn't advocate for compromising our ability to compete for a flag by selling required players in order to do this. But by chance the currency we get for Jackson (if he goes) does enable us to get him then it's a no brainer in my view and may set us up for a sustained window to challenge.
  17. Is it an appropriate time now given that we are out of the finals?
  18. I think this shows that we are getting a lot right and it won't take much for us to work on some deficiencies and be right in the mix next year. We will benefit immensely from the added time in the off-season to get as many players as we can up and running for a full pre-season. Any alleged hubris left over from 2021 should be well and truly gone with an added sting of a straight sets finals exit providing added motivation. The forward line and connection to it is the major concern but I have faith we have, or will have, the required personnel to contend. The coaches need to work out a plan to become more efficient in the forward half. Defensively we are still sound, we need to added some attacking flare back into the mix.
  19. I'd be demanding Butters or Georgiades.
  20. Only way I can see them getting the dogs first rounder is with their future first + Lobb. Even then I would think that unlikely.
  21. Ah yes, good point.
  22. So Geelong, Sydney, Collingwood or Brisbane. Hope Sydney take it out.
  23. Saw a number of Brisbane fans being escorted from the ground by security and police, at least one in handcuffs. There was certainly a foul component from a section of their supporter base last night.
  24. Think someone mentioned that exit interviews are on Tuesday? With freo out we will know relatively soon what his intentions are.
