  1. He jumped on that bandwagon fairly late though. Here is an article from March. http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2011/03/04/scully-to-stay-put/ "In fact, it is believed that GWS recruiting and list management head honchos Graeme Allan and Stephen Silvagni are already resigned to having missed any chance of luring the brilliant Scully to the Giants for their debut AFL season next year."
  2. This... Exactly what we need in the midfield. Hard at it 100% of the time with a great kick. Not sure about Dawes, he reminds me a bit of Miller but with more size
  3. 1. Moloney 2. Jones 3. Sylvia 4. Martin 5. Garland Best 1st year player: Howe Most Improved: Martin
  4. Haha, I think you give footballers too much credit. The other player I'm particularly keen to hear about with his recovery is Jack Grimes. Can anyone shed light on his progress??
  5. Hey Deemitch, I may have misinterpreted your comment, can you please clarify? Are you suggesting that both Green and Trengove are having surgery, however minor it may be, purely for the purpose of altering/fine-tuning their kicking action?
  6. Neeld and Craig in 2011 followed by Pendlebury and Dangerfield in 2012.... no need for redtube guys and gals, thats all the material you need
  7. What do people think of Lewis Johnston from sydney? 20 year key forward and pick 12 in 08 draft. I seem to remember reading that we were hoping he would slide through to our priority pick. Can't seem to crack a game having only played twice this year so he will probably be looking for more opportunities else where (*unsure of contract status, but that doesn't seem to matter these days). Although maybe it's a bad sign that he hasn't been able to string more games together. I haven't seen him play at AFL level, is anyone able to shed any light of what type of player he might develop into, i.e. stay at home or lead up?
  8. I'll back the club in on this one. I’d rather appoint a new coach than an Eade, Craig or Harvey. What will be interesting is the length of the contract (3 years is usually the standard for a rookie coach?) and which assistant coaches will accompany him in the coaches box in 2012.
  9. What I don't understand is why St. Kilda doesn't make Ross serve his 3 months notice. AFL is getting more and more ruthless, why not make life more difficult for Freemantle and set their pre-season back 3 months. If nothing else it says we will not tolerate being pushed around.
  10. I have no problem with clubs sacking coaches if it’s in the best interest of the club. Likewise I have no problem with Ross Lyon securing his future with a better deal if he goes about it the appropriate way. Incidentally, I have no knowledge to how this deal was done, so I'm reserving judgment for the time being. But.... if media reports are to be believed, while still coaching St Kilda to another finals series Ross Lyon contacted Freemantle and started negotiating a deal that would ultimately see Mark Harvey become unemployed. Is it acceptable to actively get a fellow colleague sacked for a pay rise? However this is all hearsay and the truth will likely never be known rendering everything I’m saying moot.
  11. +1 on all points
  12. Yes, I thought there was bit of irony in his comments. Although the fact both Lyon and Harvey had a year to run on their contracts differentiate it from the Scully saga. On a side note, Scully must be pleased being yesterdays news and out of the media spotlight just 3 days after his defection
  13. Listening to SEN last night, I got the impression that it was Ross Lyon who approached Fremantle 4 - 5 weeks ago (with both clubs in finals contention). I believe the words to the effect were "...freemantle got an offer to good to refuse." Of course this is just hearsay. The press conferences from both St Kilda, Freemantle and Ross Lyon should be interesting, although I suspect we will be none the wiser of how events truely transpired.
  14. Article with some interesting comments from AD. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/lyon-quits-to-replace-sacked-harvey/story-e6frf9jf-1226138146342 These two quotes caught my attention: "I think people are entitled to ask questions about issues of commitment (and) integrity," he said. and Mr Demetriou also said - without specifying Lyon - that if any coach expected commitment of their players and expected them to follow certain values … if they didn't act in same way, "it sort of reeks of hypocrisy".
  15. I don't share the optimism about acquiring MM for next year. So who is left to choose from... Neeld Burns Sanderson Hinkley? Eade? Harvey?
  16. ah ok, gotta love how they make up the rules as they go
  17. My understanding is that priority picks are still in play (see jack darling last year). So in the event that all of Gold Coast, Port and Brisbane don't win more than 4 games next year (highly unlikely) it will be: 1. GC 2. Port 3. Bris 4. GWS 5. GC 6. Port 7. Bris 8. Adel and so on...
  18. I'm new here but I would be keen if there is room. I don't want to take the place of a regular though.
  19. In no particular order McKenzie Sylvia Jones Trengove Moloney Frawley Garland Grimes (when fit) Watts Jamar On the fringe: Bail, Gysberts, Green, Martin, Jurrah And a smokey: Bennell, if he can win more contested ball he will be a real weapon of half back
  20. I have my own personal conundrum relating to this topic. Not long after drafting Tom Scully in 2009, the MFC took the opportunity to auction off 6 new jumpers with fresh new sponsors Hankook and Kaspersky. Three signed by Tom Scully and Ron Barassi, the other three by Jack Trengove and David Neitz. So currently placed in my room is a jumper that I can no longer stand to look at. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but how I wish I had of placed my bid on the number 9 jumper instead. The question is now, what should I do with it? I must admit my first thoughts involved a bon fire, however that seemed like a waste, particularly considering how much money I spent on it (an amount no uni student could justify spending on token sports memorabilia).
