People did applaud ! I think it was in the middle of a SA-KA-TA advert - I just laughed .

I was at a Final in 2002 or 2003 involving Collingwood and saw 2 Pie fans rip a speaker out of the wall in the standing room area ! No more noise ! Maybe we could recruit some of the filth to do our dirty work ?

Yeah , though I reckon not producing 1 regular Test batsman in nearly 20 years isn't good enough . And it's got nothing to do with parochialism . NSW country cricket is very strong and their Grade system is even stronger because of it . And they're not afraid to promote youth . Now when it comes to Victorian cricket we've done very well in the Shield lately but this doesn't convert to good representation at National level . Whilst I agree with you Rhino ( in part ) that it doesn't matter where they come from re the Test team , I would still ( As a proud Victorian ) like to see 1 or 2 batsman in the team from Victoria . A bit like Demon players being All Australian . Though we don't get many of these honours for obvious reasons .

Here's the article where Sheedy mentions the 12,500 members . Wouldn't bother reading the rest of the article because it's along the same lines - tripe ! "ex52k2" made the observation of 456 members ( according to the GW$ web site ) . Amazing what can be done with numbers . Or just make it up as you go along ! I've commented in other similar threads about how GW$ memberships and crowd numbers will be exaggerated to ridiculous levels and it didn't take long .............. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/the-greater-western-sydney-empire-strikes-back/story-e6frf9jf-1226208602677

I'm all for the new policy though I was a bit surprised nonetheless ! It's certainly a departure from the immediate past . And the Vics haven't produced a regular Test batsman since Dean Jones ( last Test 1992 ) Quite absurd when you think about it . Especially given Victoria's rich history in this area . The Vic selectors need to realize that winning Shields doesn't mean much anymore ( to the Australian selectors ) NSW keep producing Test batsman because they promote youth whenever possible . And 19yo Nic Maddinson will possibly be next cab off the rank ( much to the ire of most Victorians ! ) Here's a short video of him .

Well , no surprise here , especially with Vlad's "Stroke of Genius" comment late last week . Another carefully orchestrated little plan to keep GW$ in the news . There's going to be lots more of this sort of stuff . It's all rather pathetic but what can we do about it ? Also read that Sheedy reckons they have 12,500 members - what a load of rot ! The lies just keep coming and of course the AFL will back it up . I only hope it fires up our Club as much as it's fired up the fans . Round 13 can't come around quick enough .

Maybe Eddie has got some dirt on Gubby ! Wouldn't surprise me . Well at least we've got Caro and Thommo on the case . The rest of the Melbourne media don't wanna bite the hand .......... Patrick Smith might jump in but to read certain content in the Oz online now you need to subscribe ( free for 3 months and then what ? ) ( Herald Sun next ? )

We were dudded and hopefully our Club will learn from it . The compo picks might be ok and I hope one of them at least , turns into a star . And I hope T$ turns out to be a dud but we need to factor in that he was most probably protecting himself this year with the 6 million dollar pay day looming . We also need to be mindful of plotting our revenge - best served cold of course . If the Club wants to target a draftee then the Suns would be a smarter option .
-
Because we're an easier head to kick . I'm now with a few others in believing that our Club needs to be more outspoken and visible - and never mind the consequences !
-
I don't reckon that T$ approached anybody at Melbourne at any time and said " I'm leaving for GW$ at the end of the season" or words to that effect . I do , however , reckon he was probably asked more than once by the Club whether he was leaving and then just kept trotting out the line "I'll make up mind at the end of the season" or words to that effect . The Club probably ( if not definately ) became more and more suspicious as the year went on as to T$'s true intentions . And then , like many fans , the Club started preparing for the worst . I think it's more a case of what T$ didn't say to Jimma that would have led to Jimma's comments earlier in the year .

I reckon a few on here want some sort of "solution" . They know that the AFL and GW$ will probably "Get away with it" so it becomes a case of blaming the "Next cab off the rank". We should all stick pat with the Club on this issue . Absolutely no good comes from implicating the Club . We've already had enough division over these $cully swine so why should we now start giving the Son the benefit of the doubt . Not sure anybody here really wants to be a T$ apologist - or do they ?

I'm just amazed how the AFL aren't taken to account on this by all the media . Too many free lunches ? Reckon a lot of people will ignore Thomas' claims as just "Blowin' hot air" when in fact he's probably right on the money . It seems the AFL knew of both $cully signings back in Nov 2010 - yet the attitude seems to be "Ah well , that's the AFL"

Grant Thomas' take on precedings . Implicating the AFL re the $cully saga . http://wwos.ninemsn....owcomments=true

I'm with you Wyl - why should we "Move on" or "Let it go" ? There has to be more to this story and I want to know what it is . I mean , did GW$ offer the Dad the contract in November last year " Out of the blue"? They must have thought about it for some time in my opinion . So how far does this go back ? The same people wanting us to move on will probably be booing T$ with gusto when we play GW$ - not exactly "Moving on" me thinks . I've heard that Sheedy first met T$ on a schoolboys tour of South Africa a few years ago - interesting if true hey ?

Your theory points the finger firmly at our Club as being complicit in the whole $cully affair . It means that our Club has been telling lies just so we could get the same compensation picks as Geelong ( which , according to the rules we were always going to get anyway ) . Your theory makes our Club just as guilty as the $cully's , Vlad etc etc . Our Clubs silence on this matter is typical of how we have usually operated in the past . We are not exactly a "Loud" , "Out there" Club . It all sounds good on paper but it means that Jimmy , Schwab . Connolly , McLardy , Lyon , Bailey , Viney and the players have all been lying since May . We all now know that T$ is a liar . A pathological one at that . And these types rarely come clean . I reckon if T$ had told the Club as early as May that he was leaving he might have made reference to it by now . In fact T$ still maintains his original story and denies that he knew of his father's signing . It's fair to say that the Club might have had a strong inkling something was up ( just like many fans ) but I don't believe we were complicit . I genuinely believe that the Club was prepared for the worst without knowing for sure . This explains the Schwab press conference . The red herring is $cully's dad - nobody saw that coming . $cully ran the risk of the "Old man" being exposed if he came clean in May . $cully would have been under unstruction from GW$ , his management and his father to say nothing . T$ lied right from day 1 ( whenever that was ? ) and never came clean in my opinion .

History now tells us that instead of it being called the "Kreuzer Cup" , it should be called the "Chris Judd Cup" . From memory , there were rumours that he wanted to come home to Victoria but this was not set in concrete until after West Coast's Finals campaign . It then became a bun fight for Judd's signiture and guess what , Carlton had the best bargaining tools . Kreuzer went on to the backburner .

Obvious tanking has been going on for over 10 years . The AFL changed the rules on priority picks about 5 years ago it was so bad . I don't know why so many on here feel guilty - I don't . There's only about 3 or 4 Clubs that haven't tanked . 9 clubs received a priority draft pick ( before the 1st round ) in the years 2003,2004 and 2005 . The reason they don't cop it ? At a guess "out of sight, out of mind" and "strength in numbers" Hawthorn and Collingwood tanked to win Flags - fact . Carlton tanked to get Gibbs , Murphy , Kreuzer and Judd - fact . The reason the Demons copped it so much is largely unexplainable . Maybe we're just an easy head to kick . Or , people started looking more around the T$ time period . Before that people turned a blind eye .

The Next Decade; Would you take this if it happened?
Macca replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
In a Nonosecond ! 2014 and then 2016 - that's getting into that dynasty area ! 2015 was obviously a Premiership hangover - nice problem to have ! -
How good were Pink Floyd ! - Innovators and led the way like no others . British Rock will be back soon enough - it probably already is .

Maybe I'm not used to one of my Teams winning all the time ! And , as you know - in the NFL you just can't get ahead of yourself - One Player ( usually the QB ) is so important . I'm still filthy about losing to the Giants in the '08 Championship game btw . And I well remember what happened to the Pats that same year . I reckon in this sport anything goes sometimes - a late hit on a QB is always on the cards . If I was a Bears fan I'd be annoyed - just starting to come good and bang - down goes Cutler . Bit the same with Houston and Schaub . Though hopefully Leinart steps up to the plate .
-
Yeah WJ , there's a few on this thread that follow the 49ers . It's always good to see new Teams in the hunt - Detroit , Houston and to a lesser extent Oakland , Cincinatti and Denver have made the season really interesting . You had a huge win against the Giants 2 weeks ago and this week @ Baltimore should be a beauty and a tough game . All 3 games are on the box tomorrow ( foxtel and ESPN ) And ONEhd have got the 2 early games on live as well ! I'll watch the Packers early , then 2 games for Friday night - Ripper !
