To each his own hey ? Did you watch the game ? You may be falling for the trap of looking at past Olympic results . We're not expected to make the final and its a bit of a lottery after you look past the USA . The Opals have done exceptionally well in the last 3 Olympics but in a lot of ways they have overachieved . As an example , the Hockeyroos are ranked 7th in the World . Expectations are still high
-
Belinda Snell hits a 3 pointer from beyond the half way line to tie the game and take it to O/T . Wow ! Jackson fouled out so it's gonna be tough . Opals 65 France 65 . C'mon Aussies ! Edit : Opals lose in O/T 70 - 74 . Brave effort .
-
The Kookaburra's dominated South Africa tonight . A 6 - 0 drubbing . Fair start to their campaign . The Hockeyroos lost to the Kiwi's (0-1) yesterday but apparently this was not unexpected . New Zealand are ranked 6 in the world and the Aussies are ranked 7 . Came as a bit of a surprise that we're ranked that low . The Kiwi's are the reigning Oceanic champions . http://www.fih.ch/en/fih/events/worldranking

It's a bit like that . The only quiet(ish) spot at the footy is in the bars (is this done purposely , Biff ?) Don't mind the music loud though . And to think that once upon a time I found bars a bit noisy ! Strangely enough , I'm mainly a 'Straight' Coke drinker these days . Yep , I kinda 'Switch off ' from their mutterings 'dl' . Selective hearing I think they call it . I've been accused of selective hearing before though I must be good at it !

May well be true ...

If you think the Olympics are too commercial then how 'bout footy ? Apart from the ads played at a billion decibels at the games , they even emblazon advertizing on the actual football . How crass is that ? (though Sherrin and Ross Faulkner is hardly 'Non commercial') We live in a commercial World , Biffen . And it's been that way for a fair while . Atlanta did change things somewhat but trying to fight the advancement of commercialism in sport is futile .

More Gold for Kazakhstan in the Womens 53kg Weightlifting ! Zulfiya Chinshanlo wins with a 'Clean and Jerk' lift of 288 pounds (sounds better in the old measure) Borat seen doing backflips !

Yep , Vinokourov copped a 2 year ban in 2007 during that years 'Tour de France' . His whole team (Astana) were withdrawn from that years race as well . Sometimes I'd rather not know this information. But , it's at our fingertips via google and it's too tempting not to look . Our 4x100 metre Men's freestyle relay team qualified fastest tonight . The Final is on at 6.00am sharp (tomorrow morning)

Yep , I've found a way to increase the crowd noise and at the same time reduce the audio levels of the commentators (on my tele) . I've no idea how I did it , but thank goodness for small mercies . However , Susie O'Neill is great (in more ways than one)

Darryl sadly passed away today at the age of 62 . He was at the forefront of the Australian music scene in the late 60's / early 70's and wrote songs for Rick Springfield , Olivia Newton-John and many other artists . In his later life he formed part of the 'Cotton Keays & Morris' band . Will be sadly missed . This song was a huge hit for 'Zoot' and remains one of the best Beatles 'Covers' of all time , if not the best . Darryl on lead vocals ... [media=]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_3IUASoqfM

I have vague memories of the 'Footy Olympics' in the early 70's ! Seem to recall Des Tuddenham winning the long distance run (2 years running?) Sadly this 'Monumental' sporting event wasn't around for long . Think the players wore their footy gear and competed in various Track and Field events . I'm hoping at least 1 other person can verify this tale .

Haven't seen the article but heard about it 'Cards' . Not good , but hardly surprising . Leisel may well be our flag bearer though Drew Ginn would have to be a chance . Won't mention the journalist's name who put his name to the 'little paper's' article , but he's on my list of those not to read again . Yeah , I've noticed that quite a number of the Oz team events are on at fan friendly times (Early to late evening AEST) Here's the Oz team event involvements for the first week . But no rowing Gold ? 3 Sailing Gold though . You would take 16 Gold in a heartbeat .

Macca replied to Jack Jack's topic in General Discussion
In my search for some nu-jazz I stumbled upon this track . Maybe it's a jazz style of it's own . Who knows ? Macca 4.0- 153 replies
