  1. Well there are certain posters on this site who might be happy if a couple of our people were made expendable . And they've intimated that the club should abandon them . That's what I was alluding to .
  2. Sanctions handed down to individuals would still hurt the club if they weren't guilty of anything substantial . As an example - Connolly . All we know so far are the 'jocular' comments that he allegedly made . If he were to be punished for just those comments and we didn't stand by him then we'd lose a lot of face - which in turn would damage the club . I'm with Bossdog on this - there can be no expendables (unless they've done the wrong thing) Those calling for individuals heads (and I'm not suggesting that you are one of them) are patently wrong at this stage . Connolly and Schwab have done nothing wrong (that we know of) .

Yep, there's more pressure on the Packers to win this game . So much is going to depend on the 1st quarter . Tight game in Houston . The Bengals can't get into the red zone but they're still in it .
  4. Calling what we might have done or what other clubs might have done a 'crime' is a bit of a 'stretch' old dee . There's no doubt that if this saga ends up in court then the example like the Richmond one that I've highlighted will/can be referenced . That's part of this huge can of worms that will be opened . Can you be penalised for a misdemeanor if that same misdemeanor is 'rubber stamped' as not guilty by the authorities at the same time? It just doesn't make sense . You can't really have 2 different rules that govern the exact or almost the exact same circumstances - the AFL would find that out if it went to court .
  5. The focus on that one game is where everyone seems to be looking is but that is where the argument becomes flawed . Why no emphasis on all the other games involving various teams that could be called into question ? In my opinion there are probably over 100 individual games that are questionable (remembering that over 20 priority picks were awarded over a 10-15 year period) If you're not looking you won't find . The Tigers were sitting at 4/4 after 8 rounds of the 2004 season . They lost their last 14 games of the season . They picked up Deledio as a priority pick . That's just one example . My Tiger mates reckon the 2nd half of the season of that year was a joke - not just because they coudn't win a game . Frawley was the coach of that team . But who can even remember that stuff ? We weren't looking or should I say "We turned a blind eye" . Here is that 2004 season .
  6. They chased down over 400 in Perth in the 1st Test (?) in that series over here - wasn't good . South Africa would have been devastated just a few months later though . It's strange what you remember - we played them in 2 series over a period of 3 - 4 months but it's our series win over there which stands out in my memory . Probably because our loss here wasn't totally unexpected but the win over there was a complete surprise. In the recent series we were in a position to win both the 1st and 2nd test but couldn't get it done . Then they win the 3rd Test after our terrible 2nd day (in Perth) . The selectors mucked up the bowling rotations, though Pattinson breaking down in Adelaide didn't help . Edit : Pages 14 through to 23 of this thread cover both series - it's interesting picking up the mood of the people who posted during that time period .
  7. Good get wisedog . I had no idea myself but you've twigged my memory . Johnno and Hughes played very well in that series and it was regarded as an unexpected series win by the Aussies . From memory Andrew McDonald picked up some vital wickets in that series as well .
  8. Yep, it's totally unfair and has been since McLean opened his yap . We do need to find a solution and end this rubbish once and for all . What's it, the end of January for the decision? Sometime later next week our 3 weeks will be up (to answer the 'allegations') so we'll know soon enough . Edit : Just in relation to the unfairness of this whole situation - what if that level of unfairness continues right up until the end of January ? We've all been waiting for common sense to prevail but in 5 and a half months it still hasn't happened . I'm almost convinced that they want to find us guilty - no matter what .

The Premier League takes a break this weekend (replaced with F.A Cup fixtures) ESPN are covering the F.A Cup this season so those lucky enough to have cable can tune in to various games tonight and tomorrow night . Meanwhile, there's been a bit of trouble between Mancini and Balotelli at Man City . Here is the full story with a wrap up from the crew at ESPN FC Press Pass ...
  10. They're always going to have the upper hand, regardless of the circumstances . That's the way they operate By the way, none of us know the facts as yet . It's just pure speculation from our point of view .
  11. Fair enough . But that Richmond/Carlton thing probably wouldn't happen 'dc' . I reckon we'd have to wear it, singularly. (if that unpalatable 'suspended fine' scenario did occur) By the way, the obvious, preferred wish is that we get off completely . In all manner of fairness that is what should happen but sometimes ....life is unfair . But a bit of good luck may well come our way, down the track.
  12. I think you may have misunderstood my post's Wyl . I said I'd prefer if it didn't go to court . Never said anything about rolling over and accepting punishment . If we go to court, we go to court (and probably win) What I was intimating is that a deal might be done and we could ultimately cop a 'suspended' fine . Again, not an ideal settlement and certainly unpalatable but it might be a forced situation . Would you wear that scenario ?
  13. Well, we probably don't want this to go to court even though I reckon we'd probably win . It's a distraction we really don't need . A suspended fine might appease all involved. Not ideal and certainly not a solution we should be happy with, but maybe we could live with it. It may well just end up being a 'way out' for all concerned . I would possibly prefer that scenario to utimately winning in court . Maybe in the end, they do some sort of deal.
  14. If she went after Carlton like our club she might then be forced to go after the Tigers . That's probably why she's left the Blues alone . By keeping the focus on our club it's effectively kept all the other clubs out of it - though that is still hard to understand . I'm astonished that there hasn't been a prominent 'Journo' write an exposé on all the dodgy happenings over the years . Collectively the media have managed to keep the focus on our club . And many of the general public have fallen for it . How Carlton have been kept out of things is mind boggling . If this goes to court there will be no more hiding though . A whole bunch of Clubs , Presidents and Coaches could easily be called to explain .

It's all or nothing tomorrow hey 'cfh' ? . By 3.30pm or thereabouts one of us is gonna be elated, the other not so much ! I'll be kicking off from about 7.30 - 8.00 am (ish) . Good coffee and cinnamon donuts at the ready ! I can't find a definite winner out of any of the 4 games . Apparently it's going to be below freezing in Green Bay for the game .
  16. It is a dead rubber though, Wyl . If we do lose this test it won't be remembered in future years . We used to lose the odd dead rubber when we were no.1 in the World but so what ? You never like to lose a test but we've won the series and this is in some ways a practice match . For instance, would the selectors have only played 5 specialist batsmen if it were a live rubber ? Play the extra spinner if you're going to experiment (as preparation for India) Now that was an error (in my opinion) . I'd like to see us chase down 250 odd though - for a few reasons . Edit : without the aid of google or 'Alto Vista',(yes, it still exists!) can anyone recall the last time we lost a dead rubber? Against which nation and where?
  17. Yeah I like the way Wade sets himself for a decent score . If he gets in then he's quite capable of scoring heavily . And he's just turned 25 years old - we're starting to build our team for the future .

Here's the now 'infamous' Rex Ryan bicep tattoo . A picture of a woman who bears a striking resemblance to his wife in a Mark Sanchez jersey . A more bizarre sight I have never seen . Ridiculous (but highly amusing) Of course, it might be a fake . I hope it isn't though Here's Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless with their take on it ... Rex Ryan's tattoo - real or fake? This weekend's games ... Monday is part of the weekend in January right ? Sunday, Jan. 6 (wild card round) 8.30am — Cincinnati at Houston 12.00pm — Minnesota at Green Bay Monday, Jan. 7 (wild card round) 5:00am — Indianapolis at Baltimore 8:30am — Seattle at Washington
  19. Well done Matthew Wade . Under the circumstances, a terrific ton . Siddle in particular gave great support . And another good declaration by Pup . I like his confidence - many skippers would have batted on to try and get 10 or 20 more .
  20. Good work 'dl' . What a great film 'The Party' was . Must have another look at it .
  21. South Africa win by an innings and 27 runs . One more test for the Kiwi's over there before Pakistan arrive for 3 Tests (in February) . Foxtel will probably be covering those Tests as well . There is so much cricket going on - Big Bash (it's kinda like cricket), International One-dayers start next week against Sri Lanka (5 games) They squeeze a couple of International t20's in late January before the Windies arrive here for 5 ODI's in early Feb . We then go to India for 4 Tests and a series of One-dayer's in Feb/March . All this and we then play 2 Ashes series (10 Tests in all) between July and xmas/New Year . That's a lot of cricket . Interesting day at the SCG today . Some soft dismissals means that we're not quite in a winning position .

Out of my league on the QB's 'cfh' . I occasionally tune into a College game but not with any real interest . It's unbelievably big over there isn't it ? Found this link for the top QB prospects but I know nothing about them . There's only a few on this list - lean year for QB's apparently .
  23. Everyone's diverse Biff - in their own way . Some even get out more ! I have no idea how to get this thread back on track ... sorry Wyl It's like Seinfeld - the thread about nothing . Though I can see us re-visiting this thread - if we start winning games .
  24. Hey stuie , you do realise that you've become involved in the very thing you were complaining about Lol In all seriousness , there's not a great deal to talk about, apart from the tanking rubbish . The Biff and BBO show (with special guest appearances by dc and Wyl) is over my head but somehow still raises a chuckle . I used to laugh at 'Laugh In' and never knew why (none of us did) We need a poll ! Can we let Yoda, Range Rover, Neeldstherealdeal, NoMoreMrNiceGuy, 'Fletch' back for an hour so he can 'launch' one?

My 'inside source' tells me that Reid and Vick might be a package deal ! No, seriously, I have no clue ! Be interesting if Reid and Vick end up at KC on a whole lot of levels ... Apart from anything else, what happens to Dappa Dan's avatar and does 'pantaloons' change his avatar to a photo of Vick ? A 'Changing of the Guard' (so to speak) I rate Reid as a coach (his overall record is hard to fault) and Vick will end up somewhere as a starter anyway . Both didn't have great year's but I reckon it's a good fit .
