Well I'm old school so I do enjoy a defensive struggle as long as it's not 2 poor offense teams going at each other. A good balance is what I prefer so scorelines of 28 - 24 or thereabouts is what I prefer. A high scoring barnburner is always great value though but I wouldn't want to watch see those types of scorelines all the time. The rapid scoring means we probably won't see the total package. But as Gorg pointed out, 35 of the points came about because of the defenses of both teams. Great QB play all the same ... Goff & Mahomes are super-talented. Having said all that we are going to see more high scoring games and shoot-outs as the rules now are making it harder & harder for defenses. But we seem to be seeing more strip-sacks, pick 6's and points scored from turnovers so the defenses are effectively creating more points. Things might change a bit when the weather turns nasty .. especially those snow-bound games.

McVay has obviously got the smarts in terms of the technical aspects of the game ... seems that way anyway. Handles himself with aplomb whenever I've heard him speak too. And the W/L record speaks for itself ... we're no longer mentioning Wade Phillips as the steadying influence although he may well be playing that role still in terms of influence. Hats off to the bloke, he is doing a fine job.

Galaxy Star has only raced in WA but it's easy to get the WA horses confused Wadda ... it has run a number of slick times albeit against moderate opposition without a lot of pressure. To be fair though, the horse hasn't run a bad race in 12 starts (12: 9-3-0) Peaceful State & Prized Icon will both be pushing hard for victory whilst the local horse 'Man Booker' at 17-1 seems overs considering it beat Galaxy Star 2 starts back. The other local with very good form is Material Man. And then there is the other DK Weir runner in Iconoclasm with Craig Williams aboard. As previously stated, it's a good betting race.

Yeah Rodgers is frustrated but if he wasn't frustrated you'd be a bit alarmed! There are a number of highly touted teams that have hardly fired a shot this year including the Vikes, Packers, Falcons, Eagles, Jags, Dallas & Seattle. All are likely to miss winning their respective divisions unless 1 or 2 of them get on a winning run. And that is unlikely. 1 or 2 can snag a wild-card but any of the 7 still need to start winning consistently. And just like McCarthy & Rodgers, the coaches & QB's of those 6 other teams would be mighty frustrated. The weird bit is that all 7 teams are all quite capable of playing at a much higher level. Dallas & Seattle could get there but neither team inspires me. Maybe the Vikes but they've been largely unimpressive as well. So really, the best that could be hoped for is a wild-card spot or 2 for those 7 aforementioned teams. The reality is that the NFC has 2 dominant teams with the Bears on the improve and then it falls away dramatically. Can anyone see an NFC Championship game that doesn't include the Saints & Rams? For once, it's much more competitive in the AFC with any number of teams vying for top dog. The Chargers & Texans are nipping away at the top 3 and neither of those 2 teams are going away in a hurry. That's the way I see it after week 11.

That makes sense then Gorg ... I couldn't remember your exact wording. I would do a full review, put in some different people around McCarthy and then put him on notice. But not sack him If things don't improve in the next 12 months you then make the move. His record on the back of a supreme Rodgers previously gets him a bit more time. But if I was an opposition fan I might think differently but there are no consequences for opposition fans Do opposition fans want GB to be successful? ?

Hey Gorg I couldn't find your post where you compared McCarthy to Fisher but were you being serious? Fisher no playoff series vs McCarthy with at least 8 playoff series, 3 NFC Championship games and a SB win. McCarthy is miles off Belichick but so are most Head coaches Fisher is more like Neeld ... correction, Neeld is way worse. I reckon GB can do better than McCarthy however so it is all relative and context has to be factored in. It is fair to say that McCarthy leans on A-Rod far too much but Fisher did not want to use Goff at all - didn't rate the young gun. How do you rate McVay?

As for the $1Million Railway Stakes to be held at Ascot (WA) on Saturday, here is the field after the barrier draw. Willie Pike is on the favourite 'Galaxy Star' but the race is a very open affair and therefore a good betting race. Material Man is good odds as are a few others.

Ha ha ha! The concept has certainly been a huge talking point over the last 2 days ... the whole thing kicks off sometime in January but the entry fee for any of the potential horses is a one-off $500 fee with no additional fees and all the money raised from the entry fees goes to charity. They have obviously thought the whole thing through properly and a host of trainers, jockeys & owners are fully endorsing the concept.

Yeah I was only catching up with the scores because of work Dappa but the numbers were ticking over like an odometer. I just got home and have taped the game so am eager to watch. This is the new NFL hey ... the best teams are just racking up the big scores. And the defense is another offense. Seattle started that trend with the 'Legion of Boom' and it is being continued on by the looks of it.

The voting is Australia-wide, you have to register to vote and you get 1 vote only. And that vote enables you a chance at having the horse you voted for to be running around for you. Acting like the owner for the day. The additional $500k prizemoney is to be shared amongst 14 fans who are lucky enough to a horse running for them. Pays right down to 14th.

The stupid finger pointing reminds me of the clowns who were blaming Nathan Jones in 2012/2013. We had all sorts of issues at board level, Admin, player personnel & definitely the coaching but a fair wad of so-called sipporters wanted to blame Jones (our only real shining light) Astomishing. These same idiots started on Goodwin earlier this year and previous to that Watts, Oscar and others.

So the 'troll' says that Rodgers road record is poor and he should have played in more SB's. But the same troll is also saying that McCarthy is a poor coach and should have been sacked long ago. 2 posts earlier the same troll said that the coaching is fine. So the QB should have a much better road record and featured in more SB's yet has a coach who is deemed as useless Makes no sense whatsoever. But coming from someone who supports the Forty-Whiners, I'm not surprised. Chips on shoulders the size of boulders.

And I'm on record here in saying that Brady is a better QB that Rodgers ... but mainly because he's played in 8 SB's. Swap teams and the story is probably the exact opposite. But Brady is the outlier, an aberration and not the benchmark. Same as Bradman's average is not the benchmark. But the dolts of this world see both Brady & Bradman as the benchmarks. They don't get it and I'm not sure you do either ... you are not a big picture person but you are definitely a 'fan' acting like a fan. I am entirely sick of talking to you to be honest and I see you as acting in a disingenuous manner on this matter ... in short, I don't believe you.

Well we might happen to snag one of the horses in the lottery ... 14 horses so 14 people who are lucky enough to have a horse running for them share in a prize pool of $500k. Good dosh. I'll be getting a few entries in but I've got a mate who is tinny when it comes to landing these sort of prizes ... I'll have to let him know although he might already know about it. The Australian Cup has lost a bit of its lustre of late so the new race might reignite that race as well ... it's run the week before but it is a 2000m race so it attracts more of the staying types. But the Mile race suits the types of horses we breed these days so it all makes sense to me at least. I reckon a lot of the increased prizemoney should be directed at the 1200m to 1600m Group 1's anyway ... the Everest being a case in point. Aussie races for Aussie horses & Aussie connections.

See the list of playoff appearances below ... he missed in his first year and last year when he broke his collarbone. 8 years running - playoffs. He has only ever been surrounded by a reasonable or above average team with reasonable and sometimes above average coaching. That is why we have only made the 1 SB in Rodgers time at the Packers. I would have thought the above was clearly obvious to those who follow the sport closely. I watch all our games very closely and I am brutally honest when it comes to sport ... I'm unbiased, don't play favourites, I'm hard but fair and never scapegoat. And I detest excuses. Never blame refs or umps either. So you can rest assured that my appraisal of Aaron Rodgers is accurate. I've got about 7-8 mates who follow the NFL closely and not one of them doesn't share my view about the Packers. None of them rate McCarthy that highly nor do they believe that the Packers roster has ever been that particularly strong.

I was expecting a scene like out of 'Lost' the TV drama where said person is thrown out of a jumbo and lands head first (with cheesehead apparatus attached) into some sort of swampy lagoon. That's just a bit more interesting and colourful that the Cessna story

Yeah you're not really a threat for the NFC title but you're a real chance for the 3 seed with the NFC East being a bit of a lottery. The 3 seed gets you a home final and that might mean a win and another game in week 2 of the playoffs. And in the playoffs sometimes everything can go well or go badly. 1 interception is often magnified in big games. It's that kind of sport. I'm talking in this fashion because the Vikes & Packers are both not playing very well at all and neither team looks like it either. Both have been very disappointing where as the Bears have worked their way into a 7 & 3 position by doing a lot of the basics well. Nothing spectacular but the wins have come. I'd be reasonably confident of some January football if I was a Bears fan (god forbid)

Big news out of Racing Victoria today ... the talk in the lead up to the $5Million race could rival what has happened with the Everest. I reckon it's a fantastic initiative and will boost up the interest in our Autumn Carnival. The race will rotate through Flemington, Caulfield & Moonee Valley which means all 3 race clubs can invest into the race. A top idea. And Winx would be a real chance too as the QE Stakes is not run until April 13. The $5Million All-Star mile is set for March 16. Others in the running could include Shoals, Alizee, Grunt, Kementari, Hartnell, D'argento, Santa Ana Lane, Happy Clapper, Trapeze Artist, The Autumn Sun etc etc $5m All-Star Mile for Victoria (set for March 16 2019)

The issue for me and the organisation is that he won a SB ... if not, then it would be a far easier parting off the ways. GB are big on tradition and to say that they are conservative would be understating things. If it was me I'd offer a parting handshake deal where McCarthy wasn't put out too much or disenfranchised down the track. How you do all that is tricky but the organisation does need to go in a different direction so I don't disagree with your thoughts. As for Jones and the running game, I'd like to see us build a running game like the Saints have to compliment a top-liner like Brees is. Ingram & Kamara are staples with some decent back-up. They combined for 174 yards today yet they have a terrific passing game. That is the offensive model I want at GB. The Saints are the team to beat in the NFC. All-powerful. And the NFC North is now for the Bears to lose ... Chicago dismantled the Vikes today and you should be able to go on with it from here on in. I listened to the game and the Vikes could not get going all day - good win. Win 4 of your last 6 and the division is yours. 3 of 6 probably does it though. I can't see the Vikes or GB getting to 10.5 wins so 10 wins should do it. The +99 points difference tells a story too.
