If Jackson comes back in (as expected) then the default MC move could easily be last man in is first man out And I can't see us dropping Ben Brown so Weideman would probably make way unless we decide to go super-tall If Weideman goes out he'll get more chances as the season progresses. It's a long season, injuries occur as well as others needing a 'rest' from time to time

It wasn't a shank at all in my view ... if anything, he connected too well and the ball went quite a distance (and it tailed off after being caught by the breeze) Kicking accurately deep into that pocket (under instruction) comes with a degree of difficulty attached And as stated previously, we go to that long option to the pocket like all the teams do these days so when a ball does go out on the full from time to time in that area of the ground it's something a MC needs to wear It's a bit like a top level soccer team handing the ball back to the opposition purposely so as to improve their own counter-attacking game So I don't necessarily see it as an unforced error even though the stats guru's probably see it that way By the way, deliberately handpassing the ball 1 metre to a teammate who you know is going to be tackled improves your DE percentage. Go figure Related ... Onballers often have to find a way to scrub the ball forward by hand or foot because of the pressure they are under ... thus, many have less that perfect DE ratings. So Oliver turned it over to the opposition 11 times on Sunday yet he received the maximum coaches votes

Except that Brayshaw's first 'perceived' error where the ball went out on the full deep in the forward pocket could best be described as a default professional free kick He'd be under instruction to kick long to that pocket if all other options aren't available ... and if you watch carefully the wind grabbed hold of the ball at the tail end of its trajectory Goodwin wouldn't have been unhappy about Carlton receiving a free kick in those circumstances as it's the worst spot on the ground to receive a free kick (the man on the mark is actually brought into play) They (Carlton) either switch play (which is risky especially if we've designed a set play to counteract) or be forced to kick it down the line thus opening up the opportunity for us the regain possession of the ball All part of a set play as I viewed it. Of course, I'm not saying that we want to deliberately kick the ball out of bounds deep in our forward pocket but if the ball does go out of bounds on the full in that area of the ground it's not necessarily a bad result Oddly enough, the ball ended up back with Brayshaw a couple of times soon after that perceived error

Tommy Mac is only 4 votes off the top 10 (in the league) What a turnaround!

A super nutmeg!

This Dogs/Port game is full-on ... players are in auto-mode of disposing of the ball the split second they receive the ball Another finals type pressure game that we need to be able to match & better
-
Yep, no luck here with exactas today Gorg Might do better in the UK tonight Savatoxl has been running very well but I didn't see it beating that field in the Goodwood. Terrific ride by Vorster & the McEvoy's do it again Eduardo just too good for them in the 10,000

Sinister motives behind this thread idea folks ... a troll wasting your time again. Said troll has a bizarre obsession with MFC supporters. In every aspect Best to ignore as removal is imminent
-
Ordinary match ... mistake riddled Saints aren't much chop and if Geelong play like they have tonight against a good team they'll struggle They (Cats) were excellent against the Tigers last week but that standard may not be easily repeated
-
I'm betting in all 4 locations tomorrow but only small bets and nearly all are exactas There's some real value about with the exotics and will only need a few good combo's to salute to do ok The 2 sprint G1's will be keenly contested ... the 2 hot favourites could both win but strong fields often throw up the value winners Dirty Work @ $15 in the Goodwood and Vega One @ $15 in the 10,000 could easily feature

I reckon any FTA game is miles ahead of cable or streaming. Especially those graveyard cable slots where only the very keen know which games are which Saturday night on FTA beamed into Melbourne is the guts of a TV audience and what the club would be looking for Rounds 11 & 12 are Friday night games and the following week we have the QB holiday Monday to ourselves. So that's 3 weeks in a row to a total national audience. We can't have every week like that Brighten up DJ ... good things are starting to happen. Embrace!
-
That will make it 10 of 14 FTA for the club Gonzo ... fantastic exposure but we need to keep playing well. Entirely possible of course with a relatively low injury count and competition within the ranks (to keep all the players on their toes)

Aussie 'Jack' Miller will no doubt feature again in the MotoGP to held in France on Sunday evening Live Coverage starts at 9.30pm on 10BOLD (Ch12)

Well Gorg, if we win, we're going to win early! I got 30-1 for the double but have backed both to win as well Win early (like the Patriots have done ad nauseum) and then sit back and enjoy!

No you're not wrong MD ... a troll from post #1 but 'it' has been here before It gets by for a time because those who haven't seen it before get caught up in the bs I genuinely feel sorry for the bloke though. A sad individual who must lead a very lonely life. Needs help and medication He'll hop into his phone box soon enough

Best Bet Flemington Saturday R2 No.1 Star of Eden 6.00/2.00 Handy sort of double at around 30-1 or more (with a boost) Promises to be a top day at both Morphettville & Doomben with value about, right throughout each program Excellent program at Rosehill too along with the Andrew Ramsden feature @ Flemington (the winner gets automatically included in the Melbourne Cup) Good luck punters!

Which MFC player will win the club's first Norm Smith Medal
Macca replied to Craig Hutchinson's topic in Melbourne Demons
If the Norm Smith was awarded retrospectively then RDB might have won at least 3 and Percy Beames 3 as well Most know about the exploits of Ron Barassi but Beames was named as our best player in the 3 flags of '39 to '41. As a rover he kicked 6 goals in one GF, 4 goals in another and 2 goals in the 3rd win (whilst dominating as an onballer) -

And 'Zaaki' looks like another more than decent import too ... won the Hollindale in fine style beating a crack field Doomben Cup next up you'd imagine Gorg. Definitely one to follow after Saturday's performance And Explosive Jack won well (SA Derby) despite being 3 wide without cover for a lot of the race. A real good horse but because it's a colt, we may not see the horse for too much longer. Worth a mint at stud already Been getting a few winners overseas of late ... that Racing Post tipster knows his stuff! 3 winners last night thank you very much!

Yeah got the exacta so another good pick there Gorg

Feels a bit too good to be true? Personally, I can't wait to see what our overall W/L record against the better sides ends up at (Port, Lions, Dogs, Swans & Eagles to come) Of course we've beaten the Cats & Tigers so there's 2 notches on the belt It's certainly unfamiliar territory (being on top undefeated) so maybe that explains the subdued reaction Our reaction would almost certainly be different if a large percentage were expecting a big start to the season At a guess I reckon 85%+ of the supporters were apprehensive about our chances this year. Finals a real possibility but 16+ wins? We need to finish off with 9 & 6 record to get to 16 wins. And that type of record to finish off the season proper doesn't seem all that difficult from where we sit right now
-
For the majority of the game (60%-65%?) we were 2nd to the ball (or played from behind) so thus the opposition were able to win the ball too easily whilst we gave away numerous free kicks. At times we looked quite clumsy So we were lazy whilst the other mob came to play. A let down from the great win against the Tigers but we took too long to get going I reckon if we were playing against a better team we would have played better In the end our class shone out but we certainly made hard work of it Better to blast the other team out of the water and then spend the rest of the match working on different plans of attack ... that's what the great teams do Bank the points but learn from it
