  1. And Matt Clarke was at the Demons from '97 to '08 according to a link I found Been at the Tigers for nearly 13 years in multiple roles (?)
  2. Who would have thought Did he leave us before the end of the 2008 season?
  3. Good points DS ... you'd know more about this than me. Sydney with their academy has an advantage ... they can identify at a younger age than the drafting age And the proof is in the pudding with the Doggies ... lots of good young players on their list (over time) Who is the head of recruiting at Richmond? He'd have to be up there as well
  4. Yes Taylor has the midas touch ... Stephen Wells did go off the boil eventually but that might have had a bit to do with the policy on the age demographics of their recruits And wasn't he shuffled elsewhere within the club into a similar area? For whatever reason the Cats didn't miss a beat for a good period (with draftees) and then decided to change tack and top up with oldies (whilst the game had become faster with younger legs needed to do the 2-way running)
  5. All backing up that Taylor has gone past all (including Wells & Clayton*) as the best talent identifier in the business He's on a hot streak and who is to say he can't keep going? Recruiting with a real purpose At some stage we could be in the unique position of being talent overloaded ... and that's the position a club needs to be in We're not there yet but could be in the foreseeable future *Scott Clayton for his past record going back a bit
  6. Right now probably so (with the small sample size) but he looks the goods already ... most impressive aspect is his exquisite kicking to position Remarkable for a 7 game player ... and he plays tall as well. Big future by the looks of it
  7. In the same article Bayley Fritsch was re-ranked as No.3 in his draft year ... originally 31 Spargo in the same draft was originally picked at 29 but given the attrition rate of those picked above him, he might sit just outside the top 10 (or better) in a re-ranked scenario
  8. Curb your Enthusiasm new series has started out ... as previously mentioned Only Murders in the Building 'Barry' is good, The Kominsky Method is decent As for Sci-fi ... got a bit to catch up on as there is a bit about 'Dark' is supposed to be good, Glitch season 3 to watch. Have they made any more of 'Black Mirror'?
  9. Yeah seen 'em all ... Sling Blade was a tremendous film (BBob) I can remember debating the worth of True Detective S2 with AF here. I really liked it and thought with time, it might be appreciated better. But there again I'm a Colin Farrell fan as well (how good was 'In Bruges'!) Still haven't seen True Detective series 3 ... any good? Better Call Saul is very good. Others such as Ozark & Homeland are good And we're going to see another series of Dexter ... that'll be interesting
  10. No but Bosch is on the list ... to be honest, I've been flat-out at work during lockdown working enormous hours for the last 2 years Quietened off already so time to catch up on movies & TV drama There's probably 10 good shows that I don't know of ... a bit out of touch! Bosch soon enough though ... at least the first 3 eps
  11. I liked it all but season 4 was terrific. The show was also about so much more than the courtroom drama's that eventuated But that's just my view ... each to their own
  12. Hammers!?! Not used to these lofty heights ... still adjusting to the new stadium, the 2nd coming of David Moyes and a talented group of players We don't beat Liverpool very often although I noticed we did ok against the Reds in 2015/16 3rd place! (mozz factor deactivated) And the Socceroos have got 2 games coming up in the next week (live on Ch10) Thurs 11th 7.30pm vs Saudi Arabia Tues 16th 10.30pm @ China
  13. I'm in with a number of others here ... this bloke will be a star of the competition He's got all the attributes but those attributes are superior to most. Can play anywhere, has an enormous leap and is skilfull Hunts the ball at ground level too which is absolutely unique for someone so tall. From his first game he's had his eyes on the ball without a look around ... that's a real quality in an 18yo coming in against men He's only just turned 20 and once he learns how to play like an A-grader, look out!

Ha! You get those Bears over the line and you pick up the big 2 points Clint ... the rest of us all tipped the BIlls! And what the hell is Rodgers doing ... if he plays against the Chiefs we probably win Get the jab, Aaron!
  15. Or a combination of both ... and fatigue is an issue too (as highlighted by a few others on this thread) And you're right, it's across the AFL Mind you, we were much better this season as we've had games in previous years where it's really cost us ... such as R21 in 2018 against the Swans 16.5 after half time in a GF? You'd take that any day of the week
  16. The 4th and final season of Goliath was brilliant ... of course, I am a big fan of Billy Bob Thornton but the whole cast really nailed series 4 Set in dark, damp Chinatown (San Fransisco) series 4 is for 'Noir' fans. Be prepared to be surprised ... the best show I've seen this year! And the first season of 'Only Murders in the Building' was very funny and very entertaining Marty Short & Steve Martin were just mesmerisingly good ... and there's more to come. The sort of show you can watch on repeat
  17. Of course, it would be controversial ... but if it was passed through at a referendum then the majority vote would rule But it would probably be even more difficult to remove the union jack It's all a bit of a moot point as I can't see a move for real change in the foreseeable future anyway Ad for the national anthem ... We first replaced God save the Queen in 1974 (Whitlam) with Advance Australia Fair only for GSTQ to be reinstated in 1976 (Fraser) and then back to AAF in 1984 (Hawke) ... back then the ALP & the Coalition favoured one over the other (thus, the back & forth) Gough led the original charge from memory I remember voting for Waltzing Matilda in a referedum back in 1977 (?)

  19. 6.30pm tonight (SBS Viceland) 'Country Music' 2nd episide (Ken Burns) ... part 1 is available on SBS On Demand Often heard that rock n roll (and later on all the off-shoots of rock) was borne out of Country Music roots. Stand corrected of course The first episode was good so definitely worth a look
  20. Well there you go ... never knew, HT Looks good too And I don't dislike or hate the union jack ... it's just time to move on and recognise other, more important aspects to our history (and that goes back approximately 40,000 years) By the way, 'Event Horizon' - good movie!
  21. I'd remove the Union Jack but replace that portion of the flag with the indigenous flag Forever recognising the original inhabitants of our great country
  22. Traditionally we take a break from giving out best bets after Stakes day. I'll still be here from time to time having a few bets ... more so making the odd reference to the feature events that pop up For instance the Ballarat Cup & Cranbourne Cup next weekend and the Ascot G1's from Perth etc over summer As for the Spring, I started really well and finished really well ... inbetween not so good. But I'm in front and that's what matters! Gorg, DZ and others ... thanks for the contributions!
  23. I did ok ... got a 2/3 place parlay up at Rosehill All got into the finish so 4 collects ... got an early winner at double winnings Nature Strip & Zaaki won as expected And Zoushack got up for you Gorg ... good pick!
  24. Bumping with the 3rd placegetter didn't help Just audio here but I thought it was home!
  25. All 3 winning will return a healthy dividend of $150 (without a boost) But I'll be playing around with a couple/few at the place (in multi's) Good luck punters!
