  2. Apologies pantaloons, I used that exact term in a post earlier this morning.
  3. Today the playing group will obviously need to make a statement with their efforts. I am anticipating that they will come out tough, aggressive and uncompromising. However, emotion will only take you through little more than half of a football game so I am hoping they have managed to build a decent lead by half time so thay can dig in and ride it out. Carlton is a quality unit and will make adjustments at half time to combat anything we have the upper hand in. I really hope their emotions also have them at or near a perfect level for performance. It is very easy to be too keen, too aggresssive and too impatient and try to force things to happen. Lastly, I don't think Davey will make it up forward as we need his quicks in the backs due to Garlett/Betts. I will be there, with either 1 or 2 kids in tow. Not the Mrs though, she's a Blues supporter.
  4. Noticing s new one in wake of recent events. Blowtorch Apparently, they now put a blowtorch to anyone the media is sceptical about. How violent
  5. Agree completey with all above, however, I get the feeling this guy would accept a position at the Swans for a quarter of the salary that he was offered elsewhere.
  6. I was thinking today about how it's been typical of our season that of all the coin tosses i've seen at our games this year, I cannot recall BG winning any of them. It made me wonder if it's possible to find such stats. I know it sounds a little bizarre but I'd find it interesting to see who is the 'luckiest' captain.
  7. So you have no interest at all that the article covers what has been debated in about 6 separate threads on Demonland? No interest in hearing a non-posters opinion on topics covered on Demonland? And, more surpisingly, no opinion other than to dismiss it as dribble? Wow.
  8. No way. Two complete opposites. Judd keeps his feet ALL the time, no matter what. It's freakish to watch. Green goes to ground ALL the time, no matter what. It's freakish to watch.
  9. Outs: Jamar (Foot), Sylvia, Jurrah, Maric, Nicholson
  10. White Maggot article As expected, there are a couple of MFC based articles at the moment. Worth a quick read.
  11. This probably won't happen so it's a complete hypothetical, but if Viney wielded the axe to the leadership group, who would you like to see in the new one? Personally, Frawley - a backline leader, no doubt Jamar - he knows what it takes to work hard to achieve goals Sylvia - good at directing people and organising forward line movement Jones (captain)- leads by example, his strength is his effort and this can't deteriorate with extra responsibility Moloney (VC)- hard at the ball (most of the time) and seems to love the club
  12. If we do manage to nail the coup that is Malthouse, just watch these guys dive over each other to sign for a little less money. Anyone who doesn't is in it for all the wrong reasons. Think about it. Get a little less for an awesome shot at a GF, or worry about your bank balance and search elsewhere? I know what I'd take. Money will never buy what this group is in the early stages of achieving.
  13. DB did say that the board would do what's best for the club, and they did. Now they can trial an assistant thus conducting a 5 week job interview while they scratch their heads working out who to approach for next year, how they'll do it and what they can offer. We need a Malcolm Blight type. Confident, has high expectations of his players, could teach AND coach and had that, "it's a team game, do it my way" approach. Don't know who the best option is. At the end of the day, all the best ones are not available (MM, PR and AC). The emotional yet easy part is out of the way, now it's time to set the club's destiny, good or bad.
  14. After the winding streets of the season so far we have finally reached the crossroads. Unfortunately, this is where the club will get it right or hugely wrong. There are a few options here: 1 Go for a seasoned coach with a proven record/method but pay through the nose. 2 Go for a current assistant who shows all the 'trademarks' of a good head coach and hope they have the persona and nouse to live up to expectation 3 Find a diamond in the rough. An unseasoned coach who has the passion, respect, confidence, knowledge and 'big picture' to get results (much cheaper than option 1) IF replacing DB is the clubs decision, the caretaker coach is unimportant, the message has been passed on regardless of who it is.

  16. We needed this. Seriously. It shows the coaches where players are really at. It shows the club where the coaches are really at. It shows the members/supporters where the club is really at. All questions that are better off answered now instead of later.
  17. I also thought the question as to whether the media were expecting too much from the group at this point in their development was the toughest question to answer. No - suggests they are under achieving and takes the media's side Yes - risks sounding like complacency and tells the media to back off. He took the hard road, and Roosy backed him up again.
  18. Just watched Greeny and I don't think he was that bad at all. He didn't look 100% comfortable but as captain he has to be more careful about what he says and it shows. That's probably why he seems a bit uncomfortable. He didn't inflame anything at all and the only reason Roos finished is sentence was because Sheehan asked a very unfair question. You can't ask a person who has directly replaced someone else about the way it was done, you lose out either way. If you say it was regrettable then you sound like you don't appreciate the opportunity and if you say it was good then you look like a selfish tool. Chin up Greeny, I cringed less watching you 'on the couch' than I did watching Jolly's overconfidence on the same show.
  19. I'm starting to worry about how we are blazing this trail to success. I actually think that GCS, NMFC and possibly GWS are going to develop as serious premiership contenders before we are. This opinion is mainly based on our lack of senior leaders. We have gutted the club and brought in some very seriously talented youngsters. But, who is guiding them? Where is the on field mentoring? Who are they looking up to? Who are they learning from? The above mentioned teams have leaders, experienced players who lay the bench mark, to share their knowledge and act, unofficially as on field coaches. NM have Harvey and a copule more solid veteran types. GC have Ablett and other solids as well, eg Bock. GWS will, I'm sure have some experience in their mix as well. We have npone who has 'been there, done that'. So the young guys are, essentially, out there learning their trade on their own. Sure they'll get better, but very slowly. I don't see a way out of this either. We are just going to have to be extremely patient and hope the sheep make it safely to the field that is a premiership, without a shepherd. Ps. If I was TS I'd go to GWS if they signed a hard and experienced mentor type for me. The cash would just be a bonus.
  20. Three things stood out to me today 1 we need experienced players that we don't have and we have NO elite level players in our squad 2 being a top 3 draft pick doesn't guarantee success 3 green is our most selfish player, easily
  21. Rivers too/ My old man played against his old man in the Spencer Gulf League in SA yyyyyeeeeeeaaaaaarrrrrrrrrsssssss ago. Says he was a no nonsense, tough bugger too.
  22. Green - took soft options Jones - quiet but reliable Watts - couldn't handle conditions Gysberts - occasional skill letdown Frawley - the perfect defender Trengove - creative and reliable Morton - great and poor Sylvia - classy all night McKenzie - just a game Petterd - earnt much respect Maric - took his opportunities Garland - safe all night Moloney - a creative playmaker Jurrah - was more aggresive Rivers - some trademark defense Scully - sympathetic to Davey? Martin - showed his versality Tapscott - needs match practice Howe - had limited opportunity Jamar - rucked all night Strauss - beat his opponent Nicholson - backed himself detrimentally
  23. Call me crazy and I know it's against Bailey's 'youth policy' but I'd be looking to get a couple of experienced players into our list. We may not be able to trade our 'bait' for decent young talent but we have a plethora of that now. What we are missing is mature players that can hold their own and show a bit of leadership in the way they approach the game. I don't know who these players are or where they would come from but I do know that you use trades to get what you are lacking. We are not lacking 'potential'.
  24. I think i've heard the terms 'insipid', 'going forward' and 'gut running' more in the last 6 months than I had in the 37 years that preceded the past 6 months. Has anyone else made any 'buzz word' observations?
