  1. Full respect. My only hope that day was radio and even that let me down due to reception issues. I missed the entire thing. The outpouring of grief and embarrassment of what had happened to this club on this forum was enough for me. I realised that I had dodged a shocking memory that I would have hated to have.
  2. ANBs form in 2019 was truly horrific and I'm not going to apologise for thinking that he was done. Even the club asked him to look elsewhere (and there were no options). Some of those fumbles are still etched into my brain. However, I will 100% praise him for how he has turned it around. Truly incredible. More so than Tmac in my opinion as you could see Tmac was struggling to get right from injuries.
  3. Round 19. We had 7 wins a draw and 9 loses (2 byes that year) at this point. We were tracking pretty well considering the year's we had just had. I was travelling that day and knew I would miss most of the game due to loss of radio signal. I listened to pre game commentary on ABC radio praising us for seemingly being on the right course. Our rebuild was tracking well. I lost reception. I tuned in later on thinking I might catch the last minutes of the game. All I heard was Gerald Whately saying "Geelong has beaten the Demons by 186 points and there is only one question. Will they sack the coach now or later in the week" I was gobsmacked. I avoided all replays and my only other recollections are the picture of the scoreboard that pops up now and then and a memory that some Demonlanders said that Jordie McKenzie 'tried hard' as the only positive.
  4. If another club bids on him using pick 1-20 then we are not allowed to match the bid. He will go to that club. We won't have a say in it at all.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised to see him line up in the best 22 in the early rounds. We will be starting preseason much later than the other teams. Viney and Oliver are always carrying niggles. Hopefully this allows them a proper break as well as a proper length preseason before playing. That might mean they came back a few rounds in.
  6. Tim Lamb: "Hey Jase, pick 17 this year or our first round pick next year?" Jason Taylor: "17" Tim Lamb: "Done" All I need to know.
  7. Gotta say.. I'm surprised. I've always liked him, but we have a heap of players who are forced out of their natural position because we are stacked for his type. I have mentioned a few times that we have no one as an inside mid for Casey anymore. I'm really surprised he chose us over other clubs which would have given him more games in the seniors.Maybe we were the only Vic club on offer and he didn't want to move. Regardless. Welcome Luke!
  8. What? No. Can't see the logic here at all.
  9. The rules have changed regarding the NGA players. If another club bids on Mac Andrew in the first 20 picks we are unable to match the bid. Speculation is that he will be a top 10 pick. So it won't matter if we have points to match or not.
  10. He would have been over 200 and probably 100 for the club if not for the year off due to the drugs saga.
  11. Is VDB contracted? Both are free to a good home. Best we could hope for would be a swap of third or fourth round picks.
  12. It's the size that gets me. I was all for getting this kid on the cheap. If he really does go in the top 10 picks then would we really want to match it anyway (if the old rules permitted)?
  13. Ohhh.. flashbacks... I still get angry about Mark Thompson's comments after that incident. I'm sure that would be water under the bridge for the players now though.
  14. Yep. Perfect time for us to pick up some tall prospects with later picks. We could use them too. A ruck and a KPF. Taj Woewodin has come at a good time for us too as a versatile midfielder type. Casey are going to be light on for inside midfielders too. Wouldn't be surprised if we picked one up.
  15. I live in Hobart. I hope we don't play down here as we never play well. Interestingly, when Tas started selling home games to Hawthorn many years ago, they worked out that the community easily made the money back due to the supporters travelling down and making a week of it. I don't know if it dropped off over the years.
  16. Is there precident for this occurring before?
  17. A decade of rebuilding has meant that I'm programmed to check this forum every day for news at this time of year. We all know that we are going to do sweet f&$# all this year but are all still here. I hate being a creature of habit.
  18. Yes. I seem to recall Tom Harley commentating a game and saying it felt like "The end of an era" about 10 years ago. These bastards have simply kept on going strong. They have been on top the whole time we have been on the bottom. There is a reason why we are luxuriating in their imminent demise: Pure Jealousy. They have really backed themselves into a corner now though. The way their list has evolved, they have had no real choice but to top up with older support players to give their superstar list a few more chances of getting a flag. The last two years have been their best shot at the premiership and they came so close to justify the list strategy They could freshen up their game plan and give it a shake again next year but they have limited good young players coming through. Like the Dwarfs of Moria, they have delved too greedily and too deep. I hope their rebuild is long, slow and hard.
  19. Great point. I knew they got some steak knives back but didnt realise it was two 2nd round picks. They could use a couple to move up the order which may make the deal a bit more favourable. Cameron will be wasted in a rebuilding side. They have so many older players that will already showing the kids how to train etc. They will be delisting/retiring 3 or 4 a year for 4 years 2022 - 2026 unless some star players are tapped on the shoulder earlier than needed. They wont be able to rebuild quick enough to challenge again with Cameron. I'm not writting the cats off in 2022, but their chances are less than 2021 and its 2022 or bust. If they lose games early then they are in real trouble.
  20. Future third round pick at best. More likely that there is no interest at all.
  21. Obviously. But we are not going to pick up any of those players are we? Who are we actually a realistic chance of picking up with our currently limited currency? It will likely be delisted players, cheap fringe players or simply take our picks to the draft. Anything else means we will have to create trade currency which means giving up something that many won't want to give up.
  22. It sounds dumb. But he would be a pretty good fit down there. They are in for a world of pain. They need to rebuild and have no picks. If i were the list manager and had a magic wand, I would delist both Higgins and Dalhause and pick up Melksham for next to nothing. It would move on a bit of deadwood, improve the best 22 for 2022 and allow them a bit more time to prepare for the rebuild. Giving up 3 good picks for Cameron is going to look so stupid in a year or two. They gave up 15, 18 and 25. They could have brought in Connor Stone, Finlay Macrae, Max Holmes and Brayden Cook last year and be well into a rebuild already.
  23. It sounds like Taj has progressed well. At first he was going to be a late pick punt but it looks like we are picking up a good kid who has a good chance of developing into a good player.
  24. We need Casey players. We had a blessed run with injury this year and are cutting a lot of depth. Jones, Jetta, Vanders, Lockhart and potentially Melksham. All of them got a bit of game time this year and were ready if needed. I was happy that all these players were there for depth this year and likewise happy that we are moving them on now. The weird thing is that with Brayshaw, Harmes, Jordon and Sparrow all being best 22 (or 23) we are actually light on for inside bulls at Casey! We will also want to draft a young kpf and young ruck at some point soon.
