Agreed re kicking. Not good -
Nearly 7k down on this time last year is a fair chunk to make up. Not sure our marketing's been very inspiring or prominent enough since the flag TBH. The off field stuff might have impacted somewhat also.
-
Thought we were announcing a new surpirse recruit!
-
Reckon JVR's done ok playing the chop out and forward. Maybe they just want to see how he goes playing the solo role?
-
Yes ... with Darren initially joining the wee & pooh. I'll never forget it as he punished everyone thereafter including us
-
Diamond's debut was one of the most exciting build ups of any MFC debutante i can remember, alongside Templeton & fabulous Phil.
-
Moore was ok! Is that your positive offsetting the negative Roost!??
-
This is on WCW for opening the "Good News Week - Positive only" thread. I fear Roost is now balancing out his "negativity" here!
-
He would need to have had a miraculous summer (physically). He couldn't get off the ground to contest any ruck work late last year and barely managed to contest imv.
-
He also played a fair chunk of matches in 2019 with May & Lever. Albeit 2019 wasn't a great year in general of course and there's been a big improvement from those two since. May's first year as well and we know how that faired. Marty had a marginally higher seasonal player rating than both May & Lever that year! His overall DE% was below average @ 69% (AFL average approx 73%) His kicking efficiency was also below AFL average @ 66% (i believe AFL average is somewhere around 69%). Would be worth seeing that result against tall defender's averages though. He averaged 4.1 turnovers a game, ranked 7th worst overall but behind two other defenders in Salo (4.2) & Hibbo (4.3) Marty averaged 4.5 rebounds a game that year. Only 2nd to Salo with 5. Ranked 2nd in intercept averages (7.5) to Lever (7.9) Alot of water under the bridge since. Marty will be a very interesting watch this season. Good luck son!

Round 0, 2023 SCG - Swans vs Demons Heeney supposedly had the best game of his career according to some commentators? Certainly a huge player rating and one that we would only see on occasions from the likes of Tracc and/or Viney. Clarry on the other hand used to post these almost every other week or so when he was at the top of his game a few years back and before. And occasionally higher up in the 7s & the rare 8! So the question needs asking... is the tag now dead? Shouldn't we have tagged him at some point with an ANB or a Sparrow or tried to (IF we didn't?). Too me his stellar performance, that of Blakey and to a lessor degree Grundy's were the difference on the night. It also begs the question...in the past Blakey has often been their running go to link up off HB. It's pretty much Swans 101 that he will take the kick in out of the goal square, give it off and receive again with the old one - two then run the ball up the guts. We curtailed this strat successfully last season in both games i believe? So where were we with the counter strat this season? Did we forget Blakey was playing or what their out-of-the-goal-square 101 was? No one capable of running with him? I think we used Kozzy in the matches last season to shadow him as he gave off the first disposal and make sure he wasn't able to get the next possession they usually attempt in that sequence. I was fuming on the night about this and still am. Swans Player Rating Rank Isaac Heeney 6.850 1 Brodie Grundy 4.325 2 Nick Blakey 4.300 3 Chad Warner 3.675 4 Tom Papley 3.525 5 James Jordon 3.350 6 Matthew Roberts 3.325 7 Dane Rampe 3.250 8 James Rowbottom 3.050 9 Justin McInerney 2.850 10 Harry Cunningham 2.800 11 Oliver Florent 2.525 12 Braeden Campbell 2.350 13 Jake Lloyd 2.025 14 Tom McCartin 1.900 15 Hayden McLean 1.875 16 Lewis Melican 1.825 17 Errol Gulden 1.650 18 Sam Wicks > 30% 1.625 19 Will Hayward 1.475 20 Logan McDonald 1.450 21 Robbie Fox 1.100 22 Joel Amartey < 43% -0.050 23 Team Score 61.10 Top 6 26.03 Bottom 6 9.13 < Subbed out TOG > Subbed in TOG Stats courtesy of footwire.com & wheeloratings.com

Had Tomo ranked 8th in my player ratings vs the Swans and his match rating was 9% up on his 2023 season rating. Pretty decent improvement. Not that that means anything to the FD, but statistically it adds some weight to what everyone witnessed on the night. Selection integrity was on the wane last season imv Red. Casey matches and players returning from injury can't come soon enough. Need to see who really has the fire in the belly, talent and form in order to put some pressure on spots. With particular focus on Petty (Hawthorn return), Woe (has to be close but no Casey to show where he's at), Sestan (see Woe) & McAdam ( roughly 2 weeks plus a run at Casey prior?). Alot will also depend on whether we start posting Ws or Ls of course.

That would not surpirse me at all. Really hope T-Mac has found another gear over the off as he looked 2 yards too slow and no spring at all in his last few matches from behind the goals. Couldn't even get to the drop to contest or impact. Fingers & toes crossed.
-
We should hit the chardonay set with a mid-season counter trade offer... Tex for Schache
-
Why are Blues players allowed to determine where the mark is and almost always run over the actual mark without ever being called back?
-
Due for a return against the Hawks. Fingers crossed.
-
Woe will emerge as the surprise packet this season IF he's given a decent chance to find his feet. Has some serious AFL worthy talent. Just needs to bring the work rate now. If he can bring it he'll usurp the likes of Spargo, the two Bills & Chin.
-
Marlion hasn't been too good so far
-
Thought the Tiges held em off very well considering the time in possession & number of entries i50
-
Almost certain there was one hanging over him the entire match last week.
-
Thanks Mr Leg. At least that explains why he was stiff.
-
Yes highly likely. They can at least attend some CBs against each other and show off their rucking prowess. Taking my binoculars for that one!
-
I would say this is close to the chocys as to why Tomo isn't playing. I'm not sure T-Mac is a better option though. If we risk BB for a full match then i'm a monkey's uncle (no offence Uncle!) Fullcream to play his first match for the mighty Redlegs
