Very Jaded

This makes me so angry. We traded a 50 goal a year forward (for a combination of reasons which I support btw), and then gave up pick 6 for someone who wasn’t even in shape! I like May and I know why we traded for him, but FML how did the club not do their due diligence? Why did Goodwin not go meet with him during the trade period and tell him he has to come in to pre season raring to go. I mean what sort of a 27 year old footballer even needs to be told that? And he was a vice captain? Laughable stuff Our backline is an epic failure and the player we recruited and spent so much on to rectify that isn’t playing because he’s unfit. The mind boggles.

Totally spot on. We think that if we win every clearance we will win the game. This never happens. Teams have figured us out. Not only did we do nothing in pre season to rectify our defensive issues, we did nothing to prepare for 6-6-6 and we did not actively chase pace. We have got to be the slowest team in the league. Even a dime a dozen speedy half back flanker like Saad would do.

It really saddens me to say, but unless Jones can reinvent himself as a half back flanker, as Lewis did, I think he is done. Which is heartbreaking because nobody deserves to be around for our success* more than he does. *success unlikely

Would it have hurt to wait until round 6 to give him an extension? Because right now we look pretty ordinary. Also unless Pert is doing a Schwabb and getting involved in football matters, his job has zero to do with our appalling form. He ain’t playing FB last time I checked.

Players should always be supremely confident. So I have no issue with that. I have an issue with coming out after half time flat and devoid of any urgency.

To be fair why the [censored] is he on a wing? He is slow and a below average kick. Why didn’t they move him to half back, especially with Lewis injured? God knows we need some leadership down there. The wings for us seem a wasteland for shitty or past it players. Or players we don’t know what to do with. See Tyson circa 2018.

Both are average players. I don’t expect them to be world beaters. We should be a lot more concerned that TMac, Hibbo, Jones, Jetta and a whole host of other very good footballers have gone backwards or reached the end of their career at such rapid pace.

Also why for the love of god did we go trade for Preuss and yet I’m seeing poor Weids getting slaughtered in the Centre bounces every week? That they were a man down for 3 quarters is even worse. We look slow, unfit and lost. As for the umpiring, blatant cheating.

The players may love Goodwin, but a tactical mastermind he ain’t. We clearly spent no time this pre season working on the new 6-6-6 rule. It got to a point tonight where they made Fritsch stand at the very edge of the square so he can run to the backline as soon as the ball was bounced. Absolute goddamn geniuses in the box I tell you. Our defence is all at sea. We miss Lewis, and with Jetta and Hibbo badly out of form, let alone the trading of a fat unfit FB who so far got himself suspended and done a groin, we are not looking to improve anytime soon. Frost is a horrible horrible footballer and a total liability. OMac has no support. We are always out of position and out on our feet. Now let’s talk forwards. We appear to have none. None in form anyway. TMac is hopefully injured, because at this rate he should go back to defence. Trac is slow and fumbly. ANB is just a complete no. My biggest concern is our lack of pace. We are totally one dimensional. If we don’t win a clearance we are basically stuffed and have given away a goal. That’s a lot of pressure on the mids and is a completely stupid game plan. Goodwin said there are no more excuses. So let’s see if he can handle the pressure. He’s had a bloody dream run with Roos and making prelims last year. The honeymoon is over, and lucky for him he’s scored a new contract before proving that last year wasn’t a fluke. Right now, we look more like wooden spooners than finalists.
