  1. I think the 'net trend' is not enough. We will be lucky to get 8 wins this year, after an 11 win season last year. It's just not a good enough result, because rightly or wrongly, the club believes our list should be competing in finals. Sacking a coach is never not reactionary. Sacking Dean Bailey was reactionary, we were 9th at the time we lost to Geelong and very much trending upwards with a bog ordinary list. Goodwin has not just had 2 very poor seasons, especially this year off the back of minimal injuries, but he was at the helm of some pretty poor off field issues with our list since 2023. Now of course it's never just the coach who is at fault, but sadly senior coaches always take the fall. To be fair we sacked our CEO first, which was the right decision. I am sad to see Goody go, and I have no idea if the decision is right. I don't think anyone really does. Only time will tell us. Mark Neeld is the only coach I think everyone universally rejoiced to see go. I still remember how conflicted I was about Daniher leaving.
  2. If you are choosing to believe that, that's on you. We have very clearly started the process of at least sounding out our options. As for why now? I believe we wanted to be the first, and not fall behind Carlton. Voss is unlikely to continue at Carlton, and who knows what will happen with North.
  3. 3 weeks could be crucial in securing interviews with candidates, especially if Voss is sacked before the season is up. We would want someone to start ideally as soon as possible, but certainly before the trade and draft period. You want your new coach involved in list management. Sacking a coach is always terrible, the timing doesn't make it less so. I think we are all quite blind sighted but waiting another 3 games wouldn't have made it any easier on Goody, he might have been even more annoyed to find he was coaching for no reason. Had we sacked him post the St Kilda loss or mid season, would that have made the decision wiser or better or more reactionary?
  4. Clubs can't stop assistants from interviewing for senior roles, but certainly I would expect no assistant would start a new job until after their current club's season was finished, be it week 1 of finals or post grand final. You think Richmond didn't speak to Yze during the finals in 2023?
  5. It sounds like they gave him the option to, and he decided not to. I understand the point of view around timing, but the decision was made following a scheduled board meeting, and it would be crazy to decide to sack the coach and not tell him straight away. If it got out it would be that much worse. And I strongly believe we wanted to pull the trigger before another club sacked their coach cough Voss cough
  6. We would definitely hope to have someone in place before the trade/draft period. You need a senior coach to be involved in list management.
  7. This entire club is now being run by caretakers. President CEO Coach
  8. A hard watch. All the best Goody, and thank you!
  9. He's copped a lot of [censored], but I think he's always been a club and player first in everything he has said publicly. With all the challenges he has never waivered in his positivity or unwavering support of his players.
  10. My kingdom for Peter Jackson back!
  11. Goody's relationship with our senior players is very special and was both a positive and a negative thing in the end. Also lol at this drive by around the Casey facilities.
  12. I wonder how we can afford to sack so many well paid contracted senior members of our footy department.
  13. Making it all the more wrong if he was involved in this decision.
  14. Richo being involved in the decision doesn't give me any comfort. He hasn't exactly done a lot right recently either.
  15. The safest bet for a new coach, is to back themselves to get the best out of Trac and Clarry again, and thereby make us a better team instantly. The less safe option is to trade one or both for less than they are worth, and hope it pays off culturally/ on field. You can always trade quality players for unders, but getting quality players is much harder both in trading and drafting.
  16. Yep got a text from an Essendon mate (biatch please?!), to say it's about time. Interesting how others view your club.
  17. Absolutely no to a washed up, angry senior coach with a chip on their shoulder. Absolutely yes to a new, fresh voice with experience working under a successful coach / at a successful club.
  18. Oh please. You think Kosi thought Goody will be coach for the next 9 years? I really feel like Kosi is given no credit, and fans think he is some helpless, stupid individual. He has set himself and his family up for life and he loves the club for more than just the coach.
  19. Has a sacked coach ever not been furious? I can't imagine anyone has ever been happy about losing their job. But some respect and a farewell game would have been nice. Of course Goody may have said get stuffed I am going to Bali.
  20. Oh look it's media communication manager, president and CEO of Melbourne, Tom Morris. This slimy weasel delivering all the news about the club is wearing thin.
  21. I could whip up a memo in 5 minutes. FFS this is so unacceptable. Why can't this club just get itself sorted. If you decided the coach is getting sacked, you prepare a media release that moment so it's ready to send. Brad Green should have had a draft email ready to go already. How can you disrespect not just a premiership coach, but the players and members like this? Don't we deserve to find out about such important news not from goddamn Tom Morris? I swear make Tom Morris the president at this point, he seems to get more info than anyone else.
  22. Me too. Last home game of the season, and a perfect chance to let Goody coach one last time and get the thanks he deserves. Regardless of whether you believe he needed to go or not, he's earnt the right to a respectful exit.
  23. Melbourne. We have proven premiership players with time to return to their best, and a good mix of youth. You back yourself to get Clarry and Trac back to their best, and go from there.
