  1. Of course it’s not his fault. One player is never the reason for a side being terrible. But it is his fault he chased money he didn’t deserve and Freo had to dump 5 of their starting 22 players to make it happen. It definitely explains part of why they look so awful. They went and got a player they didn’t need, to play a role that doesn’t suit him, and gave away their whole salary cap and draft haul to make it happen. Absolute stupidity. I would be furious if Melbourne traded 5 players to bring in a ruckman… and then forced him to be a forward… and then had 0 draft capital heading into a strong draft.
  2. I have a sick sense of satisfaction knowing that Jackson has to play for this rabble 😂
  3. Hope Kosi is still in touch with Jackson… the grass isn’t always greener at mum’s house hey?
  4. Oliver has flu like symptoms so he isn’t training with the rest of the team.
  5. Oliver will not miss because of a sniffle. It’s Oliver. He’s played with a broken hand before. Only if he has Covid will he miss.
  6. I think we would have taken him, and developed him a hell of a lot better than GC ever will. He would have spent 2 years at Casey, and learning from Gawn and he would end up a good player. GC is the wrong place for him
  7. If we are serious about keeping JJ it wouldn’t take much on our behalf. We just need to play him in the seniors. He deserves it.
  8. How is that being a glass half empty? Viney was training away from the main group on Tuesday with a heavily bandaged knee, and the only time Dunstan has ever played for Melbourne was when Viney was injured. So I am simply putting 2+2 together. He might just be named on the extended bench because they want to reward him for consistent form at Casey, but it seems odd he was named but Harmes wasn’t. Just a thought.
  9. Seems unlikely. JJ would replace him in the 22 over Dunstan I’d say.
  10. I’m wondering if Viney is under an injury cloud hence why they’ve named Dunstan
  11. Anyone know what time the ceremony starts? Gotta plan work finish time around it
  12. The targeting of Max Gawn's back/head is never going to stop until the club goes to the AFL with video evidence and demands a response from the league and the umpires. When Gawn starts getting soft frees every time someone touches him, then clubs will stop targeting him illegally. But while they can get away with it, they'll keep doing it because he is such a brilliant and important player.
  13. I think a lot of our injuries are accidental ones. For example, what could be done about Gawn? Or Lever rolling an ankle for the 100th time? Hibbo and May were the only two injuries which were soft tissue related. But both of these guys are old, so it is to be expected. We have had a lot of 'contact' injuries that can't be avoided, especially when we train with such intensity. Sometimes it is just down to luck.
  14. Which backline player has taught him the most? Where does he think he will end up playing long term? Backline or somewhere else?
  15. Big call I reckon Lever has it in the bag
  16. You are the only poster in this thread that I care about Fingers crossed it gets done soon
  17. You could tell 5 minutes in we were not going to win this game. Sometimes we come out and we look disinterested. Today was one of those days. We expected to win off minimal effort. Played like millionaires and got beaten by a side that wanted to win, and worked hard for it. Not just expected it to happen. The lack of leadership, voice and aggression at the contest was completely unacceptable. Match ups down back we’re totally off. Defensive efforts were nonexistent. Forward of the centre was a mess. Selfish, dumb, lacking intensity. It was every bad Melbourne performance of the last year rolled into one. An unacceptable effort for a side primed to win the flag. The reality is that we have a very good list. But some of our best players are coming to the end. With an even competition and no real standouts, we blew a massive opportunity last year and we could well blow it again this year if we don’t start to take the competition seriously. To not win 1-2 more flags with this list would be a complete balls up to be honest. These types of premiership windows come around so so rarely. 57 years it took us to get here. Let’s not make it another 57 years.
  18. Wasted in the backline. Needs to play midfield.
  19. I was willing to call the Brisbane loss a blip on the radar. Today though was just concerning. Brisbane are at least a contender, especially at home. We looked lazy. 5 mins into the game you just knew it was done. It’s inexcusable 5 games into the season when we have everything to play for!
  20. Pathetic. Nothing else needs to be said. We have a lot of work to do to get back to the team of 2021 that was hungry and relentless. All the talent in the world means nothing if you turn up with half an effort and zero [censored] to give. We expected a win today. We were badly out coached and out worked. Lacked leadership and composure. Absolutely embarrassing.
  21. We are miles off it. Luckily the competition this year isn’t that good.
  22. Yep. I can’t remember having a worse month in my life and today has really just topped it off nicely.
