Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 22
I'm not sure how or why, but I have lost a lot of interest in this season following last week's loss. Maybe it's because I know for sure that no matter what happens in the last two matches, we are no real threat of winning anything of importance this year. My interest will probably be restored if we win this week, but I still went and booked a work trip for the day after the GF because I know the only hangover I'll be suffering will be from watching yet another grand final without Melbourne in it.

Run home to Finals - 2018
Nothing would be more Melbourne than, after missing finals last year by the narrowest margin in the history of the competition, missing finals this year with the biggest margin in the history of the competition. I mean you just can't write this [censored]. How have they not made a TV movie special on us yet, I will never know.

Sam Weideman
Bit rich considering he has also spent a bit of time on the injury list, and was about 12kgs wet when he got to Melbourne. Having said that, it is his time now to show us that he is worth the early pick we invested in him. Needs to stand up and deliver, and they should play him from now until the season ends, whenever that may be. Regardless of how he performs. Nothing to lose, as literally we are cooked.

With Vince seemingly gone and Lewis and Jones on their last legs (I hope Lewis gets very little game time next year), I think we need to import some 'wise heads' and leadership. We desperately lack maturity in our side, and unfortunately our mature players are not very good. This is why the OP makes a lot of sense. We know he's a fantastic leader, and we could use more of those.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Would love Jonathan Brown to do some coaching with him in the off season.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
But they are already in the team, and there is nothing stopping them now from being those targets kicking big numbers every season, least of all Hogan who is dragging away the best defender, sometimes two. Without Hogan those players won't simply get magically better, and none of them are tall enough to be KPFs, except Weids, who again has shown nothing to suggest he can replace Hogan's output now or in the near future. And if you think Hogan doesn't perform in big games, lets talk about the last time Petracca stood up and delivered in a game, any game.
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
We already get max output from Tmac. Weideman is a total unknown. I have yet to see him do anything at AFL level to suggest he is any good. Petracca is a bigger downhill skier than Hogan. Gawn is a full time ruckman. Will never play enough forward to kick 50. Hannan? Lol. What you're suggesting, is that by getting rid of Hogan we will magically get other players to step up and cover his 50 goals, although even with him in the team taking the best defender, neither Trac nor Weiderman nor Hannan have cracked 30 goals between them in a season.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
OK lets say we could trade Hogan for Kelly who is a superstar, who does Kelly kick to up forward? Where do we get 50+ goals a season from? If we trade Hogan, we have to at the very least replace his output like for like, if not better it. If you can find me a KPF Hogan's age who will kick 50+ goals a season, every season, then I'm super open to discuss a trade.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Sure, but some people place far too much importance on the body language of a 22 year old. Imagine if Richmond went "Reiwoldt is a sook, trade him". To be honest, if you went through what he went through last year, you'd be sulking too. It's bloody human nature. And I thought he was very passionate and worked very hard yesterday, even when hampered by the ankle. He missed a few easy shots on goal, but so did Tmac. Should we trade him too? His body language has improved dramatically and it stands to reason that as he matures, so will his demeanour. Again, I want to know who people think we can trade for him that will make us BETTER. Peter Wright has kicked 59 goals since 2015. Hogan has 47 goals this year alone. Please lets not make our list worst.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
I'm as [censored] as anyone about our constant failure to deliver under pressure and be a successful club, but trading a young gun KPF is literally the worst solution to our problems. Hogan is performing as well if not better than also any forward his age, both currently and historically. We need to look at making our list better, not worse. I want to know who everyone thinks we could realistically get for Hogan in a trade, who would categorically make us a better team. I am open to suggestions.

Jack Reiwoldt says hello
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Agreed. Hennebry got better delivery in our forward 50, than both Hogan and TMac. FML!
-
Farewell Jesse Hogan
Our list, Hogan included, is not the [censored] problem. For once we actually have a good list!!! We have a better list than half the teams currently in the 8. The problem is we are mentally [censored] and we are not well coached.

Has Nicholls ever paid us a free?
We lost because we played like crap, but this ugly bald headed turd needs to be banned for ever umpiring again. Either he is blind or he’s a cheat. Still sooking about Gawn hitting the ball away from him. Precious little darling.

Run home to Finals - 2018
Essendon will shut up shop by round 23, so Port won’t lose. I doubt they’ll beat the Pies tho. North also won’t lose to St Kilda in round 23 for the same reason. We have to win today and ensure that even if we lose the next two, we lose by small margins as our % will be hard to beat. I think we can beat WC if we get Hibbo and Melksham back and WC are still without Kennedy. Can’t see us beating GWS tho.

Dees who may be gone in 2019
We'd be stupid to trade Frost. We'd get a soggy banana for him, and we've seen with injuries just how important backline depth is. Besides, I think Frost can slot into our best 22, and once Lever is back, the pressure on Frost to take the game on, and inevitably turn the ball over, will dramatically decrease, which will make him a far more reliable player.

Run home to Finals - 2018
A lot will depend on our injuries. We can ill afford to lose anymore of our key players and with Gawn in doubt now, our chances have just taken a dive.

Andrew Gaff
The real question is, how can such lovely people (The Brayshaws), be related to that [censored] from North Melbourne?
-
Andrew Gaff
Don’t think we need to feel sad for Gaff. Andrew is gonna suffer for a long time. A footy suspension is not a big deal in the context of what Andrew is going through. But I understand where you’re coming from.

Andrew Gaff
I think it's good that he has flown in, he isn't playing this week, so why not fly in and actually front up to what you did. It's admirable, and honestly I hope he goes in there, apologises, says what he did was inexcusable, cops his whack and moves on. If West Coast go in there with all guns blazing trying to defend his actions, I'll spew. Cop it, deal with it, show remorse, move on. (Might also be down here to spend time with family, as he is clearly going to be out for a long time)

You're right, we are such a soft society for thinking that punching someone and breaking teeth and jaws is not worthy of severe punishment. We should ease up on domestic violence, one punch strikes and drink driving too. Soft!
