I love that Oliver is not popular, because he is a little ar*sehole. It is what makes him an even better player. It might cost him a well deserved Brownlow one day, but gees he's just a gem! Hogan is probably forgotten because he had a terrible season last year for obvious reasons. Once McDonald is back in the team, I really think we will see the best of Hogan again. Allowing him to roam further up field is where he excels. That long goal around the body running onto the footy on the weekend, was exactly how Hogan needs to play, and will play, once we get another decent marking option down forward.

If it's true that Tyson was left out of the side because he was one of the player who didn't want to go on the camp (can you blame him, given he sustained a serious injury last year which apparently was not treated properly or promptly?!), it says a lot more about our coaches than the player himself. Costing the team 4 crucial points to prove a silly point that they are the ones running the show. I hope this is not true, because if it is, Goodwin has a lot of growing up to do as a coach!

Agreed. Oliver is better in my opinion than all the other 3 who made the list. He is also the most consistent.

The thing I don't understand is that I thought this year was not about development, it was about finals and going all out to win. Why then, did we play a 3rd gamer on Ablett? I don't have a problem trying kids and giving them a go, and thought Frisch was very good. But if you are serious about winning, you play Tyson or Brayshaw, hell you play Stretch before you play Maynard. This is not a knock on Maynard, who I think will be good, but not only is he a kid, he also doesn't have a footy background. You are asking a lot of him, and we needed to win this game! We lost by 3 points, and I can't believe that there is a single person on here who doesn't think Tyson in Maynard out doesn't give us that 3 point deficit back. 4 crucial premiership points down the drain. This will be another close season, and this loss may not be the difference between finals or no finals, but maybe it will be the difference between top 4 or a home final. If we've learnt anything from last year, is that we cannot blow opportunities like these! If we don't come out and absolutely demolish Brisbane and North, then it shows me that we have not matured at all after last year's disgraceful effort!

You need to also understand where he gets a lot of possessions. Players who play deep in the guts often get more turnovers because they are kicking under a lot of pressure. Jones is not the best kick in the world, but he is more than adequate. He was pretty good all game, and definitely the least of our worries.

Rawlings is no longer our backline coach and our backline absolutely stunk it up yesterday. Coincidence?

Start thinking of taking a holiday in September

Great just what we need more of, players who waste their disposals and are poorly disciplined. Salem was ok until his massive fall. His ball use is exceptional important to us. For me lots of players can be dropped but we must must bring in Tyson. We are taking the [censored] if we think we will win games with Maynard and Harmes in the Centre bounce. It ain’t happening and it shouldn’t happen when we have 2 very good inside mids waiting to come in.

ANB was another very disappointing player. Had such a good pre season and end to 2017 and was hardly sighted today. We had too many passengers today and again a costly bad quarter. I feel a sense of dejavu. The most disappointing part of today was that it showed us that again we have not learnt to play 4 quarters. Again team selection and setup was poor. Again we had chances to win and we had no composure to do so. It’s this clear lack of change, despite all of last years’ learnings, that really hurts. They had big outs and 3 on the bench for the better part of 3 quarters, and yet we didn’t go in for the kill. We played a stinker second quarter and then chased our tail for the second half. Sounds so familiar doesn’t it? This was a massive missed opportunity. And it’s these missed opportunities that will cost us dearly, just as it did last year. By the way, I mustn’t have been the only one who saw Oliver at the 3/4 break on all four sticking his fingers down his throat and doing 3 massive projectile vomits. Pleasant stuff!

Tyson- very sorely missed

It looked high and it’s Vince and he plays for Melbourne. Probably 8 weeks suspension. Meanwhile Selwood won’t get looked at for the tunneling of Salem!

I thought Oscar was good considering their forward dominance. Hawkins with 1 goals, I’ll take that! The defensive setup was garbage until the last. Why was Melksham there instead of forward where he excels? Why was Wagner selected? Lever had an absolute stinker of a game and he would want to improve quick smart. If he can’t play on a man he’s a dime a dozen loose defender. Our midfield was good but the forward 50 entires were awful and we played Garlett Hannan and Frisch in the same team, which is a big no from me.

Gawn dominated the ruck but he doesn’t deserve full votes for missing the most gettable shot. He’s played for long enough and should nail those. No excuse. 6- Trac 5- Oliver 4- Hogan 3- Gawn 2- Jones 1- Omac

Agreed. Sure he’ll get suspended but that’s how you make a stand, not giving away a 50 for mouthing off like an idiot. Our leadership continues to be a problem. Jones was good, but FMD our senior players have no idea. Jetta was good as always and I don’t know why he isn’t in the leadership team. More of a leader than Lewis!

Costly selections once again. Maynard tagging Selwood who had 37 odd touches. What a move! Goodwin has a lot to answer for. If he doesn’t sort out this selection issues we will continue to blow opportunities.

That means nothing. Contested marking was pretty even. It’s how they play the game compared to how we play the game. The issue was that we wasted so many inside 50 entries and they were so efficient.

A half fit Tyson is 10 times the player Maynard is. And I am twice the player Wagner is, in that I don’t play, and that’s less damaging to the team.
