Buckley would be a great option for North. However why would he leave a well paid cushy media job to run a circus? Same goes for Lyon. Ross wants success to prove that he isn’t the overrated hack we all think he is. That doesn’t go hand in hand with North. As for Clarkson, he could walk into any club. Why would he walk into North, unless the money was astronomical or he was desperate to stay in Victoria and Essendon stick fat with Rutten?

We did improve under Roos from a defensive point of view. Under Neeld we were getting dismantled every week, not too dissimilar to North. Roos built a defensive foundation and 2 way running. It wasn't always well executed because as you say, we had a poor list, but there is no doubt the 'buy in' from the playing group under Roos as a whole would have been much higher than under Neeld. I know Roos isn't a people person either, but he commanded the respect that Neeld could only dream of. Noble is very different and comes with a long and respected history in our game.

Not one of those guys comes across if Roos isn't the coach tho. That is why Roos was so valuable. He could lose 18 games a year without anyone batting an eyelid because he was a proven coach. He had time and grace afforded to him while he resuscitated a dying club with a NQR list and culture. Jackson was the same. He could get a lot of stuff done and had the ear and cheque book of the AFL. Both of these guys, no matter what you think of them, saved our club. Neeld was an awful coach, but anyone who thinks that we could punch our way out of a wet paper bag back then, even with the greatest coach on earth, is kidding themselves. This is why North need someone well established like Clarkson. He can buy them time while he rebuilds.

When can we start sniffing around the dead carcasses and try getting some of their better players across to a winning club? Surely their players are ripe for the pickings.

Ross Lyon is a terrible person. North with a young list need somebody to drive culture and nurture these guys. Lyon is literally an asshat.

Yze would be stupid beyond stupid to take this on. I know that senior coaching gigs don't come around often, but going to North is a sure fire way to ruin your career before it's begun. They have to get someone experienced who can buy them time to rebuild, the same way Roos did for us. Williams could be a better option, but again, does he have the personality to deal with the mess that is North?

I love this club and I have no reason to doubt our management, given it's been impeccable for a long time now. But I would have had a very hard time reconciling getting Walker to the club, no matter how good a player he is or how badly we need another established key forward. Thank goodness that is off the table now. The man is a cultural cancer. He can enjoy his empty trophy cabinet at Adelaide.

Norf sacking people like the real problem isn’t their list and culture and irrelevance… shades of Melbourne minus the rich passionate supporter base or historical importance.

Geelong is the side I least fear in finals (except Brisbane), because I truly believe that if you take away their home ground advantage, they would not have made top 4 for the past few seasons. Just as I don't think we win that round 23 game last year if there is a crowd down there. They know how to play that skinny narrow dump like nobody else does. They gave away all their cards by playing us how they thought they could beat us. What else have they got left come finals? How do they stop Gawn when fit and firing? I would far rather meet Geelong in finals at the MCG than Carlton or Freo. Still doesn't make losing to that disgusting bunch of knobs any more palatable. But we will get ours in finals. Of that I am sure.

A lot of players are away/ on a break this weekend given the 9 days break between games. That suggest to me we are tapering off. We haven't had a normal bye like every other side either... which apparently is totally ok for AFL to do to just one club!

I’m not sure it puts any pressure on him. If he comes in and has a taste then that’s a great motivator for him to keep working on his craft at VFL level. We can always bring in Weideman if he struggles. Against Port with a small crowd, in a bit of a nothing time slot, I reckon is a good chance to give him a taste. If he performs, well that is amazing, if he doesn’t, then so be it. I don’t think he has to perform for us to beat Port or win the flag, so there really is no pressure. He isn’t coming in to cover a role that was being performed to perfection by someone who is no longer performing it. He’s coming it to hopefully cover an already NQR forwardline.

Bowey debuted about the same time last year with only so so form in the VFL. I understand they play a very different role and that it’s much easier for a small half back to integrate into a side versus a tall KPF. But I am truly starting to warm to the idea of giving JVR a taste against Port. Our forwardline is not great at the moment and while I don’t expect him to be a quick fix, nor do I think the losses this year have come due to the forwards (all loses were due to poor contested work, losing the midfield battle and injuries), I think he could give us a different look.

When have I ever been anything but club first? I will support and be loyal to our players until the end. But once they’re out I couldn’t give a single [censored] about them. I want what’s best for my club. We are in a premiership window that we waited 57 years for. I’m not about to let a 3rd year player that we spent pick 3 on just walk out for lesser compensation than we deserve and make our direct competitor a better side. I hope the club is a lot less compassionate than some of the supporters here. This is a ruthless business and we need to get the best deal for ourselves. Jackson’s needs are the lowest priority for me if, after giving him everything he could ask for including offering to help move his family across, he still chooses to leave. Of course I want him to stay. But if he doesn’t I move on very quickly to getting us the best deal possible and that won’t happen if Jackson holds us over a barrel and refuses to entertain going to West Coast. I think it’s ludicrous to use home sickness as an excuse but then insist on going to a specific club. That’s not real home sickness.

Of course he’s screwing us if he nominates Freo when he knows full well we will get better compensated if he went to West Coast. Firstly Lever had a partner and kid on the way. Secondly Adelaide was a horrible mess of a club. Jackson is 21. Not married. No kids. No problems playing for and winning flags.

Firstly he is on record saying Nic Nat was his favourite player, which is super weird for a Freo fan... but ok. Secondly that was clearly me trying to make people laugh. Nic Nat is overrated and overweight tho... just saying.
