  1. I think I should maybe just sit back and watch everybody else on DL have fun putting points and occasionally having good healthy arguments and debate etc. I need to accept the fact that I am a little misunderstood.. I at no stage took bing's comment as "having a dig" at Tassie. I did try to make a joke out of it but maybe the Tassie "two headed" syndrome may have kicked in on some of my posts and my approach doesn't suit everybody and I don't expect it to. I assure you I do not need to calm down and be less sensitive as I feel no stress being on the site nor am i too sensitive. maybe I am coming across to some in that manner. I promise I normally have a great SOH. Some, if you have read all replies to my posts have maybe attacked me a little and been more than just sarcastic..(only a minority). Like for instance the Member who replied to me calling me p i g instead of p L g ? Please don't get me wrong... I still won't get stressed out over it,I am not he one reverting to "name calling" I am maybe a little impatient at times about the 47 years waiting for the Dees to win another flag.. That's the only anxiety I have..
  2. I totally assure you that the response to "sack Malthouse" was in no way intended to be sarcastic. It was never intended to relate to the sack Dean Bailey proponents.. I was merely pointing out what I considered a rather silly attempt at trying to ridicule my post...Can you please read what I am actually saying and not what you want to think I am saying... Read again and look at it the way it was intended..So the WCE game is a defining moment for our finals chances this year ?? I certainly hope not. If our players really want badly enough, they will dig deep and play 4 quarters of intense footy because they have the team to do so.It's a matter of breaking the pain barrier sometimes.. If they lose and have played their insides out for 4 quarters then great !! Cannot ask anymore.. Can we ?? To say it will be a defining moment in our finals chances is indeed a disappointing assessment. There are 17 matches to be played after that and I would like to think we can win at least nine of those wouldn't you ? That should put us about 6th.. with 50 points... I think maybe 46 points would make the eight ? (pure speculation of course)let's just go for the old cliche.. one game at a time...
  3. Two points from your argument. 1. Collingwood haven't looked like losing a game and are the current Premiers !! (Terrible statement you made ,Sack Malthouse) 2. Exactly what I have said before, West Coast behind us last year... Passing us this year ???? Hope not !!. Side on the Up ?? Aren't we ?? You already have us losing against WCE.. That unfortunately is the culture of most people on this site ... Sad !!
  4. Very good prediction 85pts.. WW can stop worrying now considering Port were the first team to be beaten by the Gold Coast... Ha !! Ha !!
  5. So the Jehovah's Witnesses are right ?? Ha !! Ha !! The world as we know it will be ending before then... Thank Jehovah most of the current generation won't be here to "witness" it... ??
  6. You are one of those that may have been writing posts for a long time and calling me "pig" does nothing to increase the respect for this site among fellow supporters of the club and anyone else who may like the site. You of all people one would think, should have more intelligence.. It was too late to edit. I will repeat as I said on a very early reply to a previous "established" Demonland Member.... Sarcasm, is and is well known, to be the "Wit of fools"" How true that is.. !!! Respect needs to be earned being a smart a..se doesn't earn it.. !! And I care little how much respect you have on Demonland.. It means little outside the site..!!!
  7. If we were cutting down trees it "wood" probably be in Tassie.. Bring a sharp axe as even the wood down here is tougher than that in Victoria.(but not as sharp as your tongue.. (joke). We have provided a few fair Footy players over here too .. Not enough room on the internet to name them all.. Why would the AFL want a home based Tasmanian team when they can just use the State as a "poaching" ground as they have through the VFL/AFL ?? Chill out... lighten up and have a laugh mate... !!Go Dees ..
  8. My sentiments exactly.. It's Time !! or way past time ??? Go the greatest AFL Football Club In Australia.....
  9. I am not saying we are not good enough on my various posts... We in Fact ...Are !!..The very reason dedicated demon lovers like me get a little upset when we KNOW we are constantly taking the foot off the pedal at very vital stages of the game and letting the opposition (whom I believe we are much better than, talent wise) either back in the game or get away from us a la Hawthorn.. I Know if we play 4 quarters the way we play 2 we would win more games than we lose. Even three quarters would help. We have won 2 games playing 2 quarters, drew 1 playing 2 quarters and lost one by 7 goals, playing 1 quarter in which we made the Mighty Hawthorn side look second rate !!! I am not wanting to berate our team, I just put it down to not quite having learned how to persist and bury teams..Against Gold coast last quarter we looked very good but were they out of steam at that time and we just ran over them. In view of the Gold Coast's win against Port and watching Carlton and Adelaide my heart fluttered to think maybe we are not too far out of this.(they were very average).. Believe in yourselves Dees ... Please !! Sorry, that should be the job of the coach to make that happen.. I was getting a little carried away... Go Dees... We CAN be in that top 8 this year.. and then next year?? Who knows ???
  10. You obviously have not had much to do with Bomber Thompson.. He is definitely a Hard Nut.. Not laid back, as he looked in the Coach's box in front of all those cameras..Ask a couple of Geelong players who served under him..
  11. Oops before the Sarcastic ones on the site jump on me .... I meant rUthless of course..
  12. Paul Roos is an obvious "leader of Men" Dean is a very nice guy... Agreed.. But Rithless ??? Not enough !! Please Dean... Prove me wrong.. I will be the first to embrace you and bow to you ...
  13. Good sensible assessment and worth keeping in mind. We need to finish in the top 7 to 9 this year I feel. We have to keep Scully ?? Brad Green does not seem to have relished being Captain as yet. He has kicked badly this year in comparison to previous years. Smart players ? Well, if we learn not to turn the ball over as often as we seem to do with ill directed kicks and handballs then we are halfway there.I know Morton has been out a while and he is just commencing his "journey" back, I have watched him turn the ball over too many times already this year. Jack Watts is tackling much better than last year, but he needed to be playing 4 quarters against the Gold Coast.. Bad move to use him as a sub.we need more brute strength on the Forward line just to give us a little more authority and make teams think twice before boring in and knocking our current personnel off their feet. Our classy players on the forward line (and we do have them) would then be let loose to show the skill they actually do possess.
  14. Thank you for your reply with a common sense approach.. We don't look as bad as Port do right now Gold Coast are pushing still only 2 pts down 21 mins into last qur... Gives me some heart
  15. Whoa !!! You are actually taking notice of what I say.... Didn't think you were after the calibre of replies you were throwing up... Well Done.. I doubt whether we would ever become friends mate. You are far too angry for me... Let's just leave it where it is because I find it hard to tolerate you as you are..
  16. The arguments seem to go on and on with the same excuses. You say I am all black and no white ??? Dane Swan's development is totally irrelevant .. Cannot see the point at all. Other teams go through the types of things you are talking about every season (top players out injured losing previous stars and match winners etc) but they still manage to forge ahead of us eventually. Where do we start listing examples. The post would be ten pages long.... Why ?? So our back coach has left our best tackler has left,. what's wrong with our back coaching staff now then ?? Are they not up to Wellman's standards. Don't we have any tacklers left ?? That's our problem. Why don't you cease arguing with me and concentrate on solutions, not excuses and accepting how we have been for a long time now..., top players out injured.. Hodge, to mention one only didn't play for the Hawks against us in round 2, thank God ?? Read the post on Mick Malthouse if you think I am sticking the boots into Bailey !!
  17. Thank You... I have never minded people having opinions on my opinion and I do not mean that to be my point. My point on the last persons sarcastic comment is simply, be as sarcastic as you like but please at least back it up by following the remarks with a constructive response in order to at least give the impression you have an answer with a little more substance or which at least addresses the points made by the writer.. Fair enough ? I have written many weekly sports columns in Hobart's local newspaper and have never been one to lose any sleep over sarcastic responses. Sarcasm has very little effect unless it can be backed up by facts.. I assure you sarcasm would be the least thing I would encounter today. I may be a Rookie Demon on this site but in reality, my father was a passionate supporter and he passed the passion down to me and I have never supported any other club and no doubt ever will. I am as frustrated as many others who support the Dees, but I sincerely hope we are not sitting here 5 years from now still saying things like "we are on the right track", "we will make the 8 next year", we are building a Premiership list" etc., etc... ..Go Dees !!!
  18. Let's wait and see how accurate some of the "shoot from the hip" propositions as you call them are, shall we ?? Especially the ones from me. Your reply contains exactly the kind of content I expected from the "patient" ones with attitudes like don't worry we are heading in the right direction etc etc., I read comments like this on Demonland several seasons ago and from some of the same members writing similar stuff today.... Impatient you say.... Yes almost 47 years impatient !!!!! and becoming more impatient with what is turning out to be a disappointing site in as much as the ones that seem to have been on here the longest seem to depict precisely the image our once great club portrays to the football world.... Complacency and acceptance of failure !!! We would be nigh on Bankrupt right now had it not been for the tremendous fighting spirit and dedication of people like Jim Stynes and a handful of others. At least that is how the television viewers saw it portrayed. Yes I have definitely "rocked the boat" and it is obvious to me by a few negative and sometimes sarcastic reactions from people like you. I am in no way intending to offend or be a smart a..e, but it just becomes so frustrating to read how easily some of you people accept mediocrity. The positive comments have come from those who will not accept anything less than success at this point in the club's very long history..Dean Bailey is obviously a nice guy, but hard, tough, inspiring and a person one would feel like walking through a brick wall for,I do not see !! Paul Roos is a nice guy, but is a leader of men and comes across that way. (example) Maybe DB has a problem getting his message across to the football public.. Listen to the so called "footy Experts" talking now. They are after his blood and as usually is the case they will get it ...!! Watch this space !! I have had an interesting experience thus far on Demonland and I do not feel I am very acceptable to some of the more established members, but I assure you, sleep I will never lose over any negative comment directed towards me. I have written many "controversial" articles over nearly thirty years in my home State of Tasmania and have not lost sleep or too many friends on the way. I try hard to verify or at least analyze what I say before I say it.. Do you ?? p.s. I definitely "rocked the boat" with Rhino Richards as evidenced by the following email I received from him re the matter of using Capital letters ?? I can see plenty of similar posts on here right now.. Email from Rhino.. : plg31ni, Rhino Richards has sent you a new personal conversation entitled "Flaming". Rhino Richards said: ====================================================================== plg31, I have deleted your post which you have typed in CAPS. Typing in CAPS mean you are SHOUTING. And that sort of behaviour is unacceptable on this Forum. Please read the Code of Conduct. Thanks Rhino ================================================================= I have apologized to Rhino if I offended anyone and unknowingly breached the Code Of Conduct, as I had no intention of giving the impression of shouting, but merely intended to emphasize my points. I cannot see how typing in capitols automatically means one is shouting. I would challenge that assessment if I really needed to.Hopefully the reply I have just written will not be "censored" for any reason.
  19. If we take that track and don't succeed we will be where we are now.. Not taking that track at all will see us like you say, "the big powerful clubs will eat minnows like us", without any doubt. We should have learned how to unleash Hell... We have lived in it for a long, long time..Haven't we ??
  20. I have been jumped all over several times already so I know what you mean. Some people on this site do not like opinions that appear to "Rock the boat" If you don't write the same old same old crap we have been listening to for nigh on half a century, from well before the internet was invented, then you don't appear to be welcome. It's either agree with all the BS or get off the site? Let's get real and admit we have worked as a club and the members numbers have increased, we are out of debt, thanks largely to one of the greatest men ever to grace the confines of the MCG, one Mr. Jimmy Stynes, we now have the best list of players we are likely to have for many years, we have the best draw we could ask for this year, now we must get to work and finalize the list of those whom we are trusting with developing and coaching this fine group of players and at this stage, in my opinion and maybe only my opinion on this site, we have to get that right this year and I do not believe we have at this stage... Sorry Dean Bailey, nice person and intelligent man you may be, but Premiership Coach of a Senior AFL team .... you are not.. prove me wrong if you can... I will be the first person to withdraw my assessment and print a public apology to you and all the faithful on this and any other site..
  21. If he knows the list better than anyone else why doesn't he know how to get the best out of it ? He may be an intelligent good man and I would never say he isn't but intelligent good men don't always inspire other human beings of the pro football type to win flags.. We need the real hard "killer" instinct. We need at least a bit of that type of personality to be publicly displayed. As much as I like Maloney, he should not have played last week. Our club should have shown real strength and stood him down for his public indiscretion. That shows our weakness and sets a bad example to other players. They now know they can get away with those sorts of stupid acts. Taking the vice captaincy from him was not tough enough. We must not tolerate that sort of behavior and suspension should be the only avenue. Hard ?? Yes, but other clubs have been harsh on these sorts of indiscretions, including Collingwood. They make Grand Finals and win an occasional Premiership, Sadly.
  22. Firstly they have played no one except the Hawks.... Disaster.... They won 2 games with half hearted approaches and not very impressively against teams that will be way down the wrong end of the ladder this year.. Bailey is not an inspiring man as is shown by his media conferences and his obvious lack of personality. I do not see him behind the scenes with the players and can only comment on what the public sees. Please bring on the end of his contract., Sorry about my obvious lack of support of the coach of the footy team I love so much and have done so since I was 8 years old. .
  23. By far the best and most sensible post I have read on the topic I originally raised. So well put together and an accurate diagnosis of where we are at right now. Our own well put together game plan would be a good start to moving a little forward. I agree 100% the players we have most certainly have the talent it's how we handle and build them. You are far from "Bonkers" as your pseudonym suggests. Well written..
  24. Excellent thoughts Old55 and I respect your views and enthusiasm, but we need a very strong motivator and tactician to get these so called 25+ premiership quality players playing to their reputed full potential together as a "champion team" not a "team of champions" (to steal a phrase from the great Roy Cazaly)Then and only then will we see the potential become reality. Potential never wins anything.
