  1. The player rankings are total rubbish. No account for current form. Looking at competitions statistics and averages provide a better base, but at the end of the day they're still statistics and statistics can only say so much.
  2. Essendon was unforgivable, but there were reasons for this loss. The short turn around, our inability to play Etihad and the way the Saints match up on us all played a part. Frustrating, but I can understand it. We will beat the Suns this week.
  3. Great display from Hogan. I was shattered when he missed his 8th.
  4. One will do for now, thanks.
  5. He has a long way to go until he is the best one on one forward in the game. Still, I'd like him to hang around. Bring back the war chest!
  6. 26 already? Wow. The years go quick. Love what he does and he's possibly the most consistent bloke in the side. Could keep doing it for another 6 years at least.
  7. Good to hear, but hasn't this already happened before? Or maybe it was just a coffee/lunch once.
  8. I really don't know what to think just yet, and will try and hold off on speculating if only to keep myself sane for the next two years. However if Hogan leaves, that would be so Melbourne. Our first potential superstar in decades gone, just like that. I will not hesitate to leave a paper bag of [censored] on the doorstep of AFL house. They have created this self-righteousness that so many young players have when it comes to their contracts and dictating where they want to play.
  9. In theory, the employer has most of the power until the player becomes an unrestricted FA. But it is clearly becoming easier for the player to get their way before free agency. All up though, I'm with Deestroy All... a line like that does sound pathetic. The club will always be bigger than the player.
  10. UFC

Great card in Brisbane today and entertaining fights all round! What I took away from it: - Bec Rawlings is scary. - Te Huna is done, surely. You can't keep being KO'd like that at 34 years old. - Daniel Kelly has enormous heart and it was awesome watching him get over a much younger and more highly touted physical beast in Antonio Carlos, who looks huge at middleweight. Probably my favourite fight of the day. - Jake Matthews is a superb athlete and is going to be a gun for a very long time, and will be a contender at lightweight much sooner rather than later. Those body shots on Case took the fight away from the American and Matthews strength and speed was first class. Legend and only 21 years old. Along with Whittaker, he's our best prospect at that level. - Lombard is done, surely. - Classic Hunt, huge KO. He keeps bobbing up and down in the heavyweight rankings and won't go away, but I can't see him getting a title shot without some serious wins over guys like Miocic, Velasquez, Dos Santos and Rothwell. All in all, a great afternoon of viewing.
  11. Niall may have 'confirmed' that but who is his source? More likely this is just Niall's assessment of the situation based on the evidence that is obviously available.
  12. I'm liking what we're seeing, but it'll be interesting when Roos steps back entirely.
  13. Sure, but most of the cynicism can be saved for another year, can't it? That seems the logical way to go about in this scenario. He has two years to run on a contract FFS. Soon we'll be stressing over a player signing for 5 years instead of 6.
  14. Harmes' calves need to be wayyy bigger.
  15. They were already doing pretty well though...
  16. I played under 16's too, but I don't think my skills would be up to scratch... I'm excited about his physical attributes, especially the leap and basketball ability. However transitioning to playing AFL with little recent football experience will take an immense amount of work, particularly on his skills. I really hope he makes it though and will make the effort to go and see him at Casey early next year (and hopefully at the G later in the year!).
  17. Over 100 games at 24 is a good achievement. He becomes a walk up start to our 22 and I think will flourish in a new, fresh environment. Pick 25 is a fair price to pay for that.
  18. Give it a rest and reserve your judgement for 2016, when we actually see his output for the MFC. I think most of us will be pleasantly surprised. No point sooking right now.
  19. Hasn't had a good run the last few years, pick 25. But lets not forget that it may end up as pick 28. Also, I definitely wouldn't call McStay worthless. Will be a good player.
  20. If we landed all three of Bugg, Kennedy and Melksham and managed to keep our first round pick, I'd be very happy. Those three are into our best 22 immediately and therefore, improve the depth of the entire list.
  21. Considering our needs at the moment and the deficiencies that still plague the midfield, Dom is one of our almost untouchable players. He will still be a gun - the guy is only 21.

Sounds like a likely type and could be worth a go on the rookie list. Might be a few clubs hovering though and if he ends up on an AFL list, I'd bet it would be at Freo or WC.
  23. I'd prefer we went for another midfielder and tried to fill the forward gap through trading or a later pick. If only Hopper were available.
  24. I was too. I was also chuffed when he broke Rhys Shaw's ribs when we hammered Sydney. Overall though, he was far too limited.
  25. As long as Roos is around the club, the Kennedy rumour will continue to be a popular one. Would love him but am yet to see any indication that this might well happen. Which could in fact be a good sign.
