There ain't a whole lot they can say that hasn't been said over the last six years unfortunately. But as they can't make their actions on the field talk either there is nothing really can be done for us fans except wallowing in our own bitterness and wondering why the club tortures us so. Then it's on to next week - I see my feelings rise to a peak on Saturday arvo and I already know I'll be full of unfounded optimism for the Bombers game. Next thing I know I'll wake up in a gutter somewhere on Sunday morning asking where the hell I am but knowing what happened the night before was what I knew deep down was always going to happen. Just an extract from my diary, the life of a demon supporter. Depressing really.

I was umming about Watts as I think he is a confidence player above all else and might be more detrimental to drop him than effective. That is a good point but changes really do need to be made.
-
In: McDonald, Kent, MacDonald Out: Gillies, Watts, Dunn Sellar down back where he belongs, McDonald up forward where he played well at the end of last year, Watts out for a disgustingly laconic game. Tapscott survives through his lack of gametime in the last couple of years.

It's arguably harder when you have followed the club for years and are much more passionate about the colours than many of the players obviously are. They get ample financial compensation anyway.
-
Never thought about it like that but that really brings up some interesting feelings.
-
Probably one of the few players at the club who doesn't really deserve something like that directed at him due to his personal work ethic, but I have put my own personal comments and feelings of encouragement on the MFC page itself. Very unrestrained response and obviously he is hurting with the combined feelings of not being out there playing as well as seeing the boys get hammered so brutally. But many of them really do have to justify their wages
-
It goes back to last season with Sellar - rubbish up forward so put him down back where he excelled. Gillies and Pedersen are too early to make a call on but based on yesterday's form Gillies at least should be dropped. Sellar to the back half, McDonald in for Gillies and play him forward.

It's like they decided to stop doing the hard yards once preseason ended.
-
Now the heads fall, here comes the 80 point thumping
-
This is just ridiculous, why the eff is Dunn taking the kick outs?
-
Good composure from Rodan
-
No one in the forward 50 and poor delivery when there is someone. Sylvia impressive so far.
-
Ports transition from back to forward just then was ridiculously easy, [censored] efforts from our boys
-
Very good mark Schulz. Come on Clarky!
-
Fair enough, it's not a bad side anyhow. I am under the impression Ahmed is about 30/31 but how old is he?
-
I think it is ridiculous of you to have Ahmed in your best XI Macca. He is a very raw, unproven leg spinner and Lyon is no doubt the most experienced and definitely reliable spinner in the country and is in my best XI every day of the week.

Looking towards the Ashes, this is my preferred squad... M Clarke S Watson* E Cowan D Warner P Hughes M Wade T Paine U Khawaja J Faulkner N Lyon J Pattinson P Siddle F Ahmed G Maxwell / M Henriques - one of and I'd lean towards Henriques as I could see his seamers being useful in the English conditions. P Cummins / J Bird - preferably Bird, subject to fitness (both) R Harris A real smokey for me could be Chadd Sayers of South Australia. Is 25 and has 59 wickets from his 12 shield matches. Not the quickest and I haven't seen a whole lot of him but he moves it in the air and off the seam which could be valuable on the English wickets. *I'm not convinced that Watson will provide much for the team if he isn't bowling. If he can't bowl personally someone like Rogers or Bailey would be much preferred.

Where is our next ruckman going to come from?
Little Richard replied to Soidee's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hannath when he comes home! But in reality if Gawn can't shake the injuries there ain't a lot going on... unless Fitzy comes good. -
Great test match, New Zealand finally have more than one or two bowlers at a time which look dangerous. Boult and Southee could be a great opening partnership in the future.
-
Johnson bowling rubbish, seen this before
-
Wow I forget about GWS - Sheedy and Scully, a cringeworthy combination.
-
Gazza!!! Dropping him after the first test was pathetic.
-
I don't really know why but I just hate it when we (Australia, Melbourne and any other team I am rooting for) wait until a series or season is lost to win a game; it feels pathetic and very hollow. I'm not quite sure why I feel like this but it could stem back to my junior footy/cricket days... My respect for the black caps is growing quickly, all over England at the moment! If someone told me Peter Fulton was going to make a test hundred against that bowling attack I would have told them they were insane but good on him! Liking the emerging pace brigade, it'll look even better with Bracewell back too.

i don't mind Collingwood as much as other teams, probably because I am young and don't know so much about the history between us but there is nothing I dislike more than losing to Carlton - they are arrogant, cheats and a much better side than us. Kills me in the week leading up to when we play them and the result is already decided. Plus my mum and sister are Carlton. Richmond as well because they are pretty rubbish but think they are much much better than what they are.

So if we win, big deal there is very little positive to take from it if any at all.
