Assuming the game is worth watching, it depends on what you want to see most. Yesterday I went with a group of people and we went in Gate 5. As it was raining when we got there, we couldn't find seats under cover on the ground level, so we went up to level 2A (just in front of all the corporate superboxes). This gave quite a good view of the ground, although it was a little exposed when it started raining later. Unfortunately we got to see Geelong's second quarter rampage up close ... Otherwise, ground level in the Northern stand is one spot I like, as you can hear the players calling to each other when the play is nearby, or the top level for a 'coaches' view of the game (and plenty of room to move around and choose a particular spot).

I believe us city slickers are paying less for milk then we did 10 years ago too, so I am not sure that the simplistic conclusions in the article are valid (knock me down for lack of surprise ).

This buzzard will have a few kids (well, teenagers) in tow at the MCG this week, including a visitor from Dili. Details are a bit unclear as yet (as tickets for them have been arranged by someone else), but I will be there.

Thanks. Given it is the 2nd largest country in the world, I was hoping for something more geographically specific (although I suspect very cold parts of Canada are quite common).

Now that is cold. I spent about five weeks in Pennsylvania in January and February not long after that. but I think Chicago takes the cake for cold winters. I presume you had to dig the car out of the snow in the first place ...

The Gotterdammerung (ie worst-case) scenario for Essendon is that a large chunk of their players get banned for two years. Then any officials and coaches still at the club who were there during the drug-taking period (2011-12) get the boot, (presumably at the insistence of the AFL), they have to find some VFL or new draftee players (or whatever Gill has in his pocket for this), and the AFL gets to say we cleaned out all the bad guys. The AFL is simply not going to kick them out; whatever happens in the courts or with ASADA, the AFL will clean Essendon out (as above), and then say look at the new squeaky-clean Bombers. Then they do a GWS for about 5 years as they slowly rebuild ...
