  1. Tiers is correct, it really should easy to stamp out. But the Neanderthals of this world will scream that we are de...manning...the sport. But it won't be them pushing the wheelchair.
  2. Our game is played at such high speed, this will eventually happen. To sit down by the fence and see how hard the contact is in a game of AFL it's frightening. so while we at it stop calling players like Selwood and Ginnivan "Brave and Warrior like" Someone is gunna pay ...big time
  3. And further to the Dangerfield logic Ginnivan’s style could open him up to concussions and head trauma if he is regularly tackled high but Dangerfield said there was no need for a complete rule change.
  4. The point is, it should be so easy to stop. If a player deliberately drops his knees or ducks into a tackle, then penalise him. And yes there will be howling from the media, but really it's a no brainer (sic)
  5. Ginnivan within his right to drop his knees, says Dangerfield Jon Pierik AFL Players Association president Patrick Dangerfield says Collingwood forward Jack Ginnivan does not need to change his playing style amid criticism he drops his knees to secure high-contact free kicks. Ginnivan’s technique of taking the ball low and rising into a tackle has been a hot topic since the clash against North Melbourne on Saturday. He won two high free kicks for high tackles around the neck but, in a contentious third incident, was not awarded a free for high contact because the umpire felt he swung his arm up to force the tackle to go high. My View:.................................. Not sure how Danger can condone this. Head high tackles are dangerous and can potentially put the player tackled at risk to concussion, including CTE problems. Again .........in my opinion the AFL needs to not encourage players to initiate head contact if they are serious about the players well being. STOP playing free kicks for this. 1. It is not in the H & S interest of the player 2. It is a really bad look, btw all teams have their "Ginnivan" (we have Spargo) 3 They changed to rules before i.e. Bartlett throwing the ball in front to get a free
  6. Just finished watching the replay. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned but the Demon supporters at the ground put up a mighty effort. The singing of the song with 4 minutes to go and then the chant of "Lever Lever" and the roar when took his last intercept mark was fantastic. Well done to all those that travelled or turned up from Adelaide to support the Dees.
  7. 2 questions 1. If the umpire reported him immediately, why wasn't a free kick paid 2. Why did they let the game continue when Prestia was obviously in a real bad way. I couldn't believe they let play just roll on right beside him (where is the care factor there?)
  8. Was that a call out to the WINGers club?
  9. I voted and now I feel unclean
  10. I've seen him tackle on a football pitch, he's a naturtal
  11. Can someone please post a link to the fixture (without a paywall) , really interested in the Freo game as we are heading over to watch
  12. What was the crowd numbers last night, I can't see any details on either AFL or the Age site?
  13. You know, 32k for a crowd against an interstate game wasn't really that bad. The Hawthorn - Collingwood game got 43k, for two Melbourne based teams with a combined membership of 150k.
  14. Every now and again a footballer comes along who lights up the competition, Michael Frederick is that sort of player, usually they don't burn for long, but they are so enjoyable to watch
  15. I know this may sound like a bit of a first world problem, but every time I have to enter the Premium rooms (Hasset and Ryder) I have to show my premium ticket, so 1/4 time, half time, 3/4 time ,post game, pre game, if I need to go to the Loo, I have to get my phone out, find the right app and show the dude on the door my pass. this never used to be a problem, but little things like this detract from the whole "game day" experience. Not sure if equates to less crowds, but it's flaming annoying
  16. Ah Bazza McKenzie just keeps giving
  17. Careful Bevo, this is bordering on greed, might just get the umps offside and start looking at the Free kick leg up the Bullies get nearly every game. How arrogant to criticise the umps when they get such an advantage every week.
  18. I still don't see why they can't release the full fixture. Trying to plan the Freo game at Optus for July. Have already missed out going to Alice because all accommodation and good flights taken. make's it extremely difficult to plan ahead.
  19. Good article in last weeks Good weekend in the Age, regarding umpires and abuse. Worth a look,
  20. Good point, the worry is too, if these guys don't get a run they will start to look elsewhere, and you couldn't blame them. It's a real juggling act.
  21. Problem is to bring them in for just one week isn't Goody's style, and not really a fair way to judge a debutante
  22. St Kilda just bomb it into the forward line, now who does that remind you of?
  23. I actually disagree it was clear ly dissent, the odd thing is the other 10 they don't pay
  24. Libba takes every opportunity to snipe the opposition
