  1. To be fair, I suspect I miss plenty on here.
  2. He will look like a combination of the Collingwood and Essendon jumpers - a mix of white rage, boiling red blood and a face as black as thunder.
  3. Beautifully descriptive.
  4. I'm not quite sure who's punning, who's trolling and who doesn't quite get the joke.
  5. I noticed in the North game that for most (or perhaps all) of the second half we dispensed with the standard plan of having an extra forward running off the back of the square whenever there was a centre bounce. This may have been because North was playing a three-man forward line at each bounce (complemented by 4 wingmen and 7 defenders). Nevertheless, this meant we had 6 forwards at the bounce instead of the usual five, thereby only allowing North one extra defender. So, still outnumbered, but we would have been outnumbered by two instead of one if we had persisted with the plan of having a forward start from behind the square.
  6. Hibberd was an All Australian last year. I accept that he hasn't been in All Australian form so far this year but on the totality of evidence to date, it would seem that since Goodwin has been coaching him, Hibberd has not been second rate.
  7. I hope you don't mean Chris.
  8. I think "chaos ball" is the AFL phrase of 2018 to date. (I also think last year it was probably "running patterns".)
  9. I find it interesting that people find fault with the games of some but others appear to be a protected species. Fritsch might be a very good player in time but at the moment he only impacts occasionally, in a similar way to Hannan, whereas ANB and Melksham are more constantly in the game and do more than Fritsch. I can't see how ANB or Melksham (assuming no injury concerns) would be left out before Fritsch. Edit: I should add I'm not necessarily advocating for Fritsch to be dropped...although if we want a second marking target or a real second ruckman, maybe he'd be the unlucky one to go out.
  10. Maybe they went to the gardens to look for some mayblooms.
  11. Thanks. Thinking about this a bit more, it's a bit hard to know what to make of it. Are we tackled more because we have the ball more than the opposition (seems like a positive); or are we tackled more because we're too slow to get rid of the ball when we have it (seems like a negative)...or both?
  12. The best sort of footy. I'll add two other matters that I don't think have been mentioned (apologies if I missed it): #1. Crowd of over 35,000. For a North game, that's a good number. #2. It was a Saturday game starting at 2.10 pm. (If the AFL is reading this, just maybe that was a contributor to #1).
  13. It would be interesting to know who the players were who he took with him to that extra training to see if they, also, appear fitter.
  14. I read this as "Like the look of pretty Weideman". Couldn't concentrate for the rest of the thread.
  15. Keep it up Skuit. I suspect we all agree that it's probably a bit early to be too proud of these stats, but I'd rather be in the positive than the negative. Just one question though...for the tackles against stat (which I assume means opponent tackles for), is it better to be 1st or 18th? In other words, is being 7th close to being the third best or the third worst?
  16. Frost - heart in mouth Salem - Joeboy's rare error To expand (which is cheating on this thread), after Waite threatened to dominate the game in the first fifteen minutes, Frost then took over and made sure Waite had no impact. Good coaching by Goodwin to have our quickest, tall defender on North's oldest player. However, everytime Frost gets the ball it's a heart in mouth moment as to what happens next. Not too dissimilar to some of Tom McDonald's games as a defender.
  17. That's the irony of being a club that has a relatively low income level from the pokies. The less you receive the easier it is to replace. Hawthorn, Carton and Collingwood get greater revenues and therefore will find it much harder to wean themselves off the pokies, should they choose to do so.
  18. 6. Gawn 5. Salem 4. Hogan 3. Lewis 2.Petracca 1. Jones
  19. Now I know why you use the name 'DV8'.
  20. I'll guess that cnbc = close but no cigar. Which, if that's right isn't very helpful, because it means I still don't know what dftft is! Anyway, I'll leave the acronymic anguish behind me now. It's not particularly on topic.
  21. What's the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology got to do with it?
  22. Ironically, while the best of [insert number here] model is used for US basketball and baseball, the game most closely aligned with AFL (in that it is a body contact sport called "football") only has one Superbowl.
  23. don't feed the flipping troll?
  24. Perhaps you could answer this in the more appropriate training thread, but did you happen to see who of the 21 players picked who are not Max Gawn, was practising their ruckwork today?
