I think the theme at the moment and perhaps for the entire H & A season is developing and improving our rebound and forward half connection… tonight we had lots of “learnings” which will hopefully serve us well, and we doubled their score. All good. Bring on the freak’n Cats. Bunch of front running wannabes. Go Demons. ❤️🏆💙

A Kolt debut | Tholstrup gets the call up
-
A question for the Demonland brains trust, as Caleb develops does he have the tools to play in the middle, aka Butters or Rozee? or is he too slight...
-
I loved the gather round, and would welcome 2 more per-season, if they decide to go that way. I spent the Gather round with 10 old Mates at a beach house on the coast, hanging out, drinking, laughing, surfing and watching footy… was lots of fun.

If Jack Viney still ill today, is the Kolt a sneaky chance..? Hubris and in fear of offending the footy gods, Demons to get it done, 10 goal win, and never in doubt. ❤️🙏💙

Weagles need to languish for 2-3+ DECADES before any assistance is considered.

Its a shame that McAdam is underdone, as would have liked him in for Chandler (assuming he doesn't get up). May for Hore, if minimal risk of exacerbating the rib injury... Reckon minimal change with Chandler getting up and May in for Hore. Plus, while we need to respect the Crows, it feels there may be a bit of blood in the water around the Crows, and we should be aiming to hit them hard from the first and try to belt them for the full four quarters. JVR to fill his bucket. Go Dees.

We seem to be getting drawn to the contest and they’re opening us up on the outside. Curious to see what Goody does, he generally makes good adjustments at halftime… JV has been awesome.
-
Nibbler has been fantastic, his work to get ball to Viney, and then in defence was monumental.
-
Great quarter, played with agression from the outset. Reckon they may be up for belting this mob, esp if they keep targeting our Clarry…
-
Chandler and Kozzie would be licking their chops…

Like this a lot. Stretch the Hawks with attacking talls, was alway unlikely we’d need TMac and Hore as tall backs. Plus keeps Windsor’s speed on the park.
-
Sooo “Opening round” is essentially “Roger rugby round”..? Are we that insecure/desperate at AFL HQ?
-
If Clarry is ready to play he is an automatic inclusion even if he’s only playing for 60% game time. Hes such a natural player, it feels when he’s playing he’s in his element. Which a part of why he’s so good, and such a pleasure to watch. From a football conditioning perspective, not seeing the VFL game mean it’s hard to gauge how fit he is…

I have us down as minor premiers. 🤷🙏
-
It may be the stubborn optimist in me, but I reckon The Cherub, Clarry, is primed for a year where he finds yet another level or aspect to his play that has him rated as our best ever…

Petty has the potential to seriously improve our forward line this year and next, putting us in contention to win finals. Nothing Adelaide were offering was going to come close. Lets discuss the virtues of holding or trading Petty last year until 2024 and 2025 play out, as he has the potential to be a 40+ goal scoring, aggressive and defensive tall who can play both ends, for next two years. plus he’s a sweet likable man whom it feels his teammates adore… Go Demons.

Was going off this info... https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/draft/afl-draft-2023-deadline-to-trade-no1-pick-west-coast-eagles-options-harley-reid-north-melbourne-melbourne-offers-latest-news/news-story/3fe0ccde0e6da727ca50857c21678478 Ooops on closer re-read, there is another window to trade on draft night... my bad. :)
-
Will be over soon, as WC need to decide to trade or not by 5pm this arvo... Reckon we go for it if WC open, as our quality makes it hard for many kids to get top level exposure early in their careers... and we have flags to win. :)

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
PaulRB replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Given the Question mark on Harrison sticking with us, it seems picking up Curtin as a tall who can play both ends is the perfect solution/backup... -
Its like been graded at the halfway mark of a marathon, given part of the period is about draft picks... Would our "ranking" go up or down if our picks convert to Reid in a months time? Footy media has become such lightweight high churn drool its hardly worth the effort to contemplate it.

Bugger. Go Lions. 😉

You do know that rumour = "a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth."..?
-
The Footy Gods were never going to let us have an easy comfortable finals, but I'm hoping the team have been hardened and motivated by the horror of the last week and are on for the first, of three, steps to redemption and the holy land. I'm visualising a energised and prolific Demons coming out tonight and putting a collective shiver up the spines of both the Lions and the Pies, while putting the Blues to the sword. Go Demons

Maynard must get at least four weeks
PaulRB replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
A related aspect to Maynards cowardly assault on Gus is the impact it had on us winning that final, and the impact it may have on us in this finals series. Both detrimental. So if the AFL is serious about stamping this out, they should be considering a "sin-bin" rule where if a player is concussed in a manner that is reportable then the reported player is removed from the playing field (subbed out) for as long as the injured player is... After that hit, Maynard should not have been able to continue to play in that game. The fact he did, while Gus didn't, was impactful on the team (Melbourne) that didn't break the rules (and spirit) of the game. Still fuming. Go Dees
