  1. Good question. Stretch needs to play with more instinct and take the game on more. He hesitates at key moments circles and the opportunity is lost too often. Hunt needs to forget that he’s fast and reconnect with the positioning, role and attitude that he needs to play. Seemed too often to be lining himself up for a streaky run that actually exposed us as much as benefited us... would love to know what the FD have them working on.
  2. So now you’re having a go at Kurt!!! Ps joke.
  3. With those outs we should expose them.
  4. Our defensive synergies are starting to click which puts Jake in a role that works for him and us. Noticed on the weekend Jetta vs Cripps in an open forward line, with the Blues on the attack. Ball was kicked long to the contest, Jets kept Cripps on the ground enabling Jake to come across and mark/punch with ease...
  5. He’s an old campaigner, we don’t have many, and he could be invaluable come the heat of September. Love that he hits to hurt opposition and can do a job on the best, see Dangerfield tag of a few years ago. Experience equal versatility and flexibility to adapt as coach needs. While he may struggle to play AFL in 2019, especially if we land Gaff, Id keep him on just in case and to keep real pressure on our best 22, should he not be a walk up.
  6. 4 x 4 goal better quarters should be the aim. Liked what Jack said about every goal against “hurts” and every goal kicked “ is celebrated” after last years near miss of finals (2 goals). love to see us belt them.
  7. It was pedantry of the highest order that Hawkins got done, this is just a return to sanity... bring them on!!!
  8. With Jack and Jeff pushing to return, no player can afford to be complacent, and our spread of miss stepping up is impressive (cusps Harmes)...
  9. Meh... nothing in either. Prefer to play and beat them full strength.
  10. Hunger, talent, competition for spots and karma all point to Demons mauling Hawks by 6+ goals... and on a weekend of blow outs... who knows. We owe this mob some pain, love to see some of that debt settled today.
  11. The key to today, and in fact our season, is the extent we can focus on and implement our game style and not let the opposition set the tone for how we play. so rather than worry about stopping Mitchell and Roughy, let’s play to our many strengths and let the Hawks worry about us. Theres a mindset switch here we need to cross this year to have 100% commitment, faith in and ability to implement our style irrespective of who we play for four quarters. Cause once we can do that, we can beat anyone. Do it today and we crush Hawks. Go Dees
  12. Look from that that this weekends clash between Max and McEvoy should be a cracker.
  13. No changes. Unless a current 22 player is injured. Winners are grinners Get it done.
  14. I've always liked Wagner, he's got poise under pressure and sticks to the game plan better than most when the wheels are wobbling and we're under siege (usually due to issues in the midfield). When he's rolling his pace and awareness coming out of our backline, for some reason, reminds me of Chris Langford at the Hawks... which can't be bad.
  15. Please let us beat the shite out of this mob, and set their season into a tail spin... please! Clarry to eclipse mighty Mitch!!!
  16. I don’t mind the long bomb when we’re simultaneously setting up to deny the opposition rebound, hold it in and pressure them until we score. To use a boxing analogy, it’s akin to throwing a big punch to nail your opponent, or to put them on their back foot or onto the ropes, so you can limit their space and work them over.
  17. Clarry head-to-head with Mitchell. Should be worth the price alone.
  18. Exactly, was looking to see if there was a "time in possession" stat that would shed some light.
  19. Also, 9 of possible 12 Quarters won, equal top (i think). Plus we've won all our last quarters thus far. There's a bit to be happy about in the numbers thus far, knowing we can improve a lot.
  20. Reckon I summed the first up pretty well, now for the glorious second half...
  21. Having lost the ability to confidently predict anything, good or bad, from our team. I’m expecting to be excited, anxious, angry, euphoric, hopeful, despondent and over it. And that’s just the first quarter... Then I’m expecting we’ll click and pound these smarmy forkers into the hallowed turf for three quarters as The fairhful roar and release the rage and humiliation accumulated over the past decade. Looking forward to it. Go Dees
  22. If it is Frost on Waite, I suspect Frosty might burn him a couple of times on the rebound. One of the joys of watching Sam play is when he breaks from defense like a crazed Great Dane bounding headlong forward, at which time we all get excited and yell "Frrrrrooooossst!!!!" ... before he bombs it long and turns it over... and we sit quietly down and drink more beer.
  23. Buggs played his first game at this level since he hit the Swan and was ostracised... a little slack and time for him to tweak and get into his groove would seem fair..? When he was at his pesky best last year, we were rolling.
  24. I agree with you WJD. if we moved to - a 17 game home and away (each team once) - a final 8 finals series - a Grand final 2 or 3 game play off, may work. Although, some poor bastard team and their supporters will end up being absolutely flogged twice in a two weeks, which would be horrendous, most likely us, and I couldn't cope.
