Win the last without injuries. Then bring on the Swans.
-
It’s been a dead rubber since 1st q. Chill pills for the grizzlers.
-
Hee hee hee this is brutal.

Win next two, we’re in finals with momentum. Win next four, we’re top 4 and positioned to have a real crack at the premiership. I don’t underestimate the form we’re in, as we’re just a whisker under what we’d need to take it all. Question is will form, injuries and the humour of the gods allow us to get on a roll..?

AvB for some reason has always hit me as a player who will be essential to us lifting the cup. There’s no logic to it, it’s just a gut feeling. On his day, he hunts and hurts the opposition and pops up for key goals in a congested forward line. Built for the intensity and agro of finals. Hope he has a huge 8 weeks of footy.

I think to try to inspire the boys and show solidarity all us supporters should give up booze till they win a flag... or not.

This week it’s up to the boys at Casey to provide the pressure on our main team to continue to perform against the Suns. If Vanders, Hunt, Kent, Weid and co have big names, then there will be some in the firsts playing to keep their spots. Which is good. With Viney and Hibberd now unlikely till September, spots in the first team are at a premium, and for some, holding their spot will require the best footy of their careers to date. So Suns will be crushed.

The last two weeks have been “finals like”, intense high stakes games in the opposition’s ground. We lost one, learnt and won the next. Now have a two weeks of games we should win to ensure we’re in the finals (13 wins + %). Then the final two rounds will again be finals like with us and our opposition looking to cement a top four spot. Couldnt ask for a better preparation, and if we end the season in the top 4, we’re a legitimate chance. But as we all know, first, beat the Suns... ?
-
It’s all about how they respond next week. Our time to hurt the Cats will come.
-
Underdogs, love it...
-
Have a good feeling about the next month. Last years failure has served us well % wise and the boys will be sharp and hungry to cement the spot ASAP. Reckon we’ll end up meeting a resurgent GWS last round and again in the first elimination... so it won’t be easy unless we can step up a gear or two over the run in.
-
If Jack’s out for an extended period ie 4+ weeks, it opens the door for Aaron to crash his way back into the midfield, and Salem to get another extended run. Love Vandenbergs appetite for the game as the intensity lifts, he’s my wildcard for the run into and finals. ..
-
Yep great to see Vandenberg prowling and bullicking, will be a fine addition in a couple of weeks.

2nd spot ours for the taking come Monday!!! ?

Cmon Port!!!

It’s a long season, especially with finals beckoning, having both fit, in form and pushing our starting 22 would be a real asset, as both on their day can do damage and VdB esp enjoys the physical stuff. Excited to see them back on the park.

Was sighing about Lever’s ACL, the Curse and cruelty of the footy gods... and started thinking about how or who is going to cover him in our assault this year..? Maybe Oscar can step up and play that role with Frosty drooping in behind him. Moving Tom back would be wrong... and I finally thought “how’s Joel Smith travelling?” Desperate times as they say. Thoughts on how we cover the loss of Lever?
-
We’re on a roll, healthy list permitting there’s no reason we won’t continue to improve as we have these past months. The noise from the media is just that, and irrelevant to this group (finally). Enjoy the ride... ?
-
In terms of keeping the current group together under the cap (and adding Gaff), what’s the value of a Premiership medallion or two to a player? Financially post-career? Emotionally?
-
Figure it’s timely to drop this in here... best thing about are current rise is we’ve so much talent across all lines, unlike...

Loving seeing the MFC logo on the red tails jumper. Proud of our clubs involvement in this area and our contribution to indig footy... long my it continue.
-
I reckon the Crows best hope is to lull us into playing soft footy rather than try to intimidate us. Too many MFC players now seem to thrive on the heavy stuff... ie Viney, Oliver, Hibberd, Melksham, and even players like Petracca and Hogan don’t seem adverse to it. Bodes well come finals.

Good question. Stretch needs to play with more instinct and take the game on more. He hesitates at key moments circles and the opportunity is lost too often. Hunt needs to forget that he’s fast and reconnect with the positioning, role and attitude that he needs to play. Seemed too often to be lining himself up for a streaky run that actually exposed us as much as benefited us... would love to know what the FD have them working on.
