Welcome to Demonland: Aidan Johnson
PaulRB replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
Feels similar to the Disco Turner pick, a player who hits ball and opposition hard and has natural power and timing that’s never been refined in a professional environment. I was a fan of the physical impact and presence Vandenberg had for us when injury free. Would create havoc and give us momentum in games… -
Helps to put those ins at Tigerland against the talent that s left this year… Dusty Rioli Baker Bolton Plus loads retiring in addition to Dusty they have a way to go in their rebuild.
-
If Goodwin can get career best footy out of Trac, Clarry and the senior players, our younger players are ready to play finals again. It’s a complex horse our coach rides, and our last flag came off the back of a turbulent preseason…

They’d want to split pick 9 to pick up an extra player to replace McAdam if true. Be a shame I was/am looking forward to watching him play.

PRESEASON TRAINING: Friday 15th November 2024
PaulRB replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great sage nailed another of Nibblers potential replacements in AMW. I also think McKee getting more involved playing Nibbla’s role could be good for us. Getting very excited after just a couple of digital Demonland training sessions. Salivating for the Beatles reunion as the two stars with the rogue off-season drama’s rejoin a rejuvenated Demons unit. Mind you, you’d think Roo must be enjoying being a forward while May and Lever are still on holidays. Big things from our blone forward, with Harrison enjoying an injury free preseason. Lots to like, keep up the reports, really enjoy the banter. Go Demons! -
I'd like to see Kozzie in the leadership group. Has the ability to impact games and lift the team, and has matured quickly as a dad given his young age.
-
If Tauru is the potential unicorn (back, forward, mid) and slips to us, i say "take him", as he'll slot in down back, adding coverage for Riv and McVee to play more in the middle until he's ready... to play mid or cover the big boys retiring from the back line. Given our game's built on defence, may be worth it...

This is impressive...

Assuming we keep 5 & 9, who are you picking?

Premiership here we come! This draw is a significant tail wind… Go Demons!

Watching some of those introductions it occurred to me the Smith would make a good replacement for Nibbler with a higher ceiling. -
I’d think that if Jeff’s boy is likely to us we’d like to know a year out so we don’t spend our pick 9 use on Armstrong… when Kalani is eyeing that tall forward ruck role over a similar timespan…

I think we are beautifully positioned to win another flag or two over the next 3-5 years via the combo of youth and very talented premiership players. Similar to the Pies and Cats of recent years, get the blend right and it can be unstoppable. -
I see Kolt a the apprentice to Jack Viney, tough contested relentless… a role that’s challenging until you’ve a couple of pre-seasons under your belt. Kolt loves contest, and has a strut that means he’ll be a team lifter and drawn to nailing his moments. lots to like about him.

Are there any former MFC players with the skill and experience to step into the CEO role?
-
You are a curious cat Picket with your love of Jefferson yet no faith in our forward line talls… Membrey adds little and would only stymie the development of the talls we have. Hardly us “sitting on our hands”.
-
When does it end?

We can vicariously death ride the Pies with Port..! 😜😃🔥
-
Could we tempt Port for Houston with pick 9..?

Given it’s looking more likely than not that we’ll have first round father son in K White next year trading out for good return this year is genius…

My view on the Oliver situation is that we, the MFC management, have decided to take off the mollycoddling gloves and call him out on the behaviors that continue and are problematic. That part of this process is to let him know if he doesn’t like it, he can look elsewhere and if he can get paid the same and the MFC are fairly compensated (picks) then we’d be open to parting. But not at our expense (I.e. we’re not paying his salary elsewhere nor accepting unders). The point being forcing Clarry to realise how good he has it at MFC and to light a fire under him to take more responsibility for his behaviour. Pert has the role of bad cop in this, others I’m sure are playing the good cop role. it’s an internal player behavior issue that has, unfortunately, spilled into the public space. Which may be a good thing if it gets Clarry back focused on footy, and more mature in his interactions with club and players… just speculation :)

Jack has spoken, end of story. 🫣

Reckon that Trac has requested this. Explains his decision to go overseas for the B&F, so as not to be called out for demanding “Clarry goes or I go.”… just speculation, but the pieces are not disconnected…
-
Top four and in mix for flag. Shove it up the doubters and media.
-
With Clarry there is the correlation vs causation question..? When he’s in best form we win flag, when his form drops our form drops. Part of our recent success has been due to our midfield being so good we could play one less in the middle and still break even… with advantages elsewhere. Clarry was a huge part of that. So if he can get back to his best, he’s one bird in the hand that you’d never trade for two in the bush (even high picks). Trac similar.
