  1. Well put and timely. When i saw the title I asked myself what would I like from the MFC? My immediate answer is active and engaged transparency (with embargos on inter-club competetive issues of footy) and communications by the club about the thoughts, theories, plans and ambitions of the MFC leaders (Board, Football Department, and Team) and their evaluation of our current state and how WE can fix it. So I was happy when I saw both "transparency" and "communication" in Dks agenda. Constructive, intelligent discussion of a problem and its immediate resolution... what could go wrong? 😉 Go Dees.
  2. I think that the injury toll and exhaustion to the team, evident in the fails of 22 and 23 as injuries took their toll, means that the " contested territory" game is not a sustainable strategy. plus our lack of dominant tall forwards means we were working hard but unable to register scores that reflect this dominance.
  3. Given this, isn't Evans also responsible for the clash, and should also be getting a three week ban?
  4. Good to see Clarry in 2nd spot, returning to the Clarry of old. Hopefully he can continue his resurrection into next season.
  5. Glass houses RDN
  6. Kicked better on the weekend. Cudos to Goody, as some hear have him responsible for the players kicks for goal… 🥱
  7. Agree on Jefferson, but TMac due to his age unlikely to be in our next GF team, so if there’s a kid to play in his spot for the remainder of the year… Howes or Adams.
  8. IN - Howes, May, Petty OUT - Sparrow, TMac, Lever Rivers takes Sparrow’s role. Gotta play younger if we’re looking to next season. Petty plays back.
  9. Tigers v Dons making our boys look like killers…
  10. I heard Rowel say “contest and defence” and my ears picked up. Suns watched how we got so close to Pies and kicked straight… Simples.
  11. The players are responsible for the players kicks at goal. Especially the experienced players, even more especially, the Premiership players. They’re responsIble. Doesn’t require a lot of thinking tbh. Seems very obvious.
  12. So Goody should gather the players together and hum together to get everyone focused on kicking ball through goals!
  13. Would love more players like Disco Turner! Become a very good and flexible player.
  14. You’re blaming the coach for our players not being focused on kicking the red football between the big posts..? You’re hilarious!
  15. Goody spoke with empathy toward those long suffering supporters. He explained what they are working to do, and acknowledged that there are some good signs and frustrating signs. I’m still with him and happy for him to coach on. Go Demons.
  16. “… cactus delecti“, only on Demonland! 😂
  17. Of course it does. 😵‍💫 Please paint me a picture Jnr? Of your understanding of the logic, thinking, rationale and discussions of the MFC Football department that inform its selection decisions, then overlay your argument that this process “lacks integrity”..? The fact you don’t understand the FD’s selection logic doesn’t equate to a lack of integrity, only that you’re unaware of what it is. But sure, if you and your buds say it often enough and loud enough it must be real… 🥱
  18. This “lack of selection integrity” thing, you do know it’s something some grumpy Dees fans made up? They have no idea as to the integrity or otherwise of our selection process. Lots of mouths yapping and not many neurons snapping on this thread. Guesses, projections, imaginations and fantasies making up a growing portion of the BS on this thread.
  19. Lots of prognosticators and finger pointing on this thread. I think we’re 2 years into a 3-year transformation to address the issues that plagued us in 22-23. In that time we’ve recruited Windsor, Kolt, Langford and Lindsay all quick skilled ball users, that indicates the FD is rectifying our poor ball use. Parallel to this we are developing 2 high draft tall forwards in JVR and Jeffo, both whom had great promise but have been slow to bloom at AFL level. Both of these two strategies will take time to bear fruit. In the meanwhile we’re evolving the rest of the team to leverage our new kids, meet the evolving AFL game and milk the remaining years from our genuine (but aging) stars. Year 3, next year is when it will click, and unfortunately we just need to hold our nerve till then. Only the absence of a plan to improve us would warrant Goody’s removal.
  20. For a long time our intensity in the first 10 minute of the game will indicate whether we are “ON” and are in for a good day at the footy. So the data supports the experience of a mediocre season.
  21. Hey Action, I’m very underwhelmed by Trac as a forward and think he’s a better ruck over than forward, as he’s built for contest, bullocking and basketballesque manouvering. I wince when Trac has set shots, and he often sprays when on the run. I’d have Trac 70/30 mid/forward. The questions of how to best balance our mids is challenging as a midfield of Trac, Clarry and Jack needs to be unwound to give Kozzie, Rivers, Langford and others (ie Lindsay) more time in the middle. But only Kozzie of that new group can demand time in the middle, and given Kozzies forward work that then robs our forward line. Unravelling and rebuilding these issues are underway, and I’m confident Goody is up to it.
  22. For at least two years Goody has been working with the FD to evolve the team and game style to compete in the current game. This is a complex combination of recruiting better ball users, more speed and adjusting our game style to embrace a quicker and more offensive style. For all of these changes, i believe Goody is correct and while the implementation has had issues (i.e. the back off this evolution during the middle of last season dues to injuries and effect issues) we don't have a choice but to continue to evolve the team and style as the game has evolved. The challenge with Trac and Clarry (and JV) making up the core of our midfield is that all three are great in contest but not great ball user, nor quick of foot. Plus, they have been slow to evolve their games. Yet these three were instrumental to our 21 success, are on long term contracts and in peak form are match winners. The introduction (and re-signing for 9 year) of Kozzie into more midfield time is a big piece in changing our midfield set up as Kozzie is both quick and good by hand and foot. The recruitment of and quality of Langford is another midfield option, with others, such as Windsor, Lindsay, McVee, even Bowser as potential HBF and wing ball deliverers may also reduce the need for Trac and Clarry (and JV) to become what they're not... My point being that moving one of Trac and Clarry (and JV) out of the club is dependent on what we have to replace them in that role and position. They all keep getting games in the middle because none of the other players at the MFC are pushing them out. So perhaps the better question is who would replace Trac and Clarry (and JV) in the midfield and would it make us a better team thats more likely to win our next flag? Because to exit one of Trac and Clarry (and JV) prior to having several solid answers to that question would be a poor outcome.
