  1. Thanks Nut. Considering the length of time the hammy took to recover, is it not reasnoable that the club was giving him time?

Either way i still say the club made the right call. It sh!ts me no end that we are tainted with this decision in the media.

Junior had a year off in 2011. Maybe it was necessary!!

And perhaps he is the perfect fit for GWS this year, in terms of experience and leadership, whereas he may not have been suitable for us last year or this year. Can you imagine how his hammy would have coped with Neeld's gruelling preseason this year? Ouch!

While perhaps we didn't handle it as well as we would could have, it was the right decision at the time. As was Bruce's, Robbo's and Whitey's. Bruce's struggling form at the Hawks vindicates his departure from MFC.

Wonderful servants of the club, all of them. But the decision was the club's, not the individuals.

  2. I put that 'shut you up' to highlight the fact that I wasn't hiding behind a nickname, when offering my opinion, this was what Harrisonrules was offering as well, before you took it upon yourself to state what should and shouldn't be posted on this board

This board is full of rumour, truth, half truth....it is a board, I wouldn't expect otherwise.....if you wanted to get your point across and not be misinterpreted (which I did) then perhaps you should have put what you put in your second post, rather than being sarcastic and then lambasting a poster

As for inside information, if I ever put that, I always put the circumstance/s from which I got the information, so if you want to laugh at that feel free

    Ok, deep breath...

Before I end my part in this pointless conversation (but you can certainly continue to bang on on your own), I need to spell out to you Mr Peter Kirkham, Member and Volunteer of the MFC, that you again should read what was said, and not make up what was not said.

At no point did I take it upon myself to rule what should and shouldn't be posted on this board. In fact it was you who told me to shut up.

At no point did I tell Harrison rules he could not have an opinion.

At no point did Harrisonrules offer to not hide behind his user name, as you indicated.

At no point did I claim that you do not back up your information with, as you put it, the circumstances from which you got it.

What I did say in my first post and tried to explain to you more simply in the second post was that if Harrisonrules had inside knowledge, he should back it up or not mention it at all.

And as for the sarcasm and lambasting bit, well, you need to get out more and not be so precious. Good day, Sir.

  3. Try reading what he wrote, I was going to write something similar, Bruce was a great servant to the MFC, he didn't like the deal that was offered so he left, simple as that, I thanked him for playing for MFC (to his face) and wished him well at Hawthorn, (I bumped into him shopping)

Unfortunately we have posters on here who make the post all about them by constantly denigrating players, administrators and anyone remotely connected with MFC, both past and present.

I have spoken to the players face to face quite a few times, and they will listen if you talk to them properly, if you want to hide behind anonmity and just bag them expect other posters to make their point strongly also

And to shut you up....Satyricon is Peter Kirkham, Member and Volunteer of the MFC

Get off your precious high horse Mr Peter Kirkham, Member and Volunteer of the MFC.

Perhaps you should read what I wrote and look at the context before telling me to shut up.

At no point did I bag or denigrate Cameron Bruce in my post to Harrisonrules.

My comment was in reference to Harrisonrules claiming "you won't know the real story.....you only know half the facts".

I laugh when I read people on here saying that they have the inside information on players, administrators or anyone connected with the MFC.

It's simple really, if you have the info, reveal it and it's source, otherwise keep it to yourself. Anything else could only lead to speculation and rumour mongering. For example, the comment "you won't know the real story.....you only know half the facts" about Bruce's circumstances could leave some to speculate inaccurately that he had personal problems at the time, or had a major falling out with the club. Far fetched as this may be, implying that there is much more than meets the eye (at least the other half of the facts, the 'real' story) does nothing to respectfully acknowledge Bruce's time as a player. Of course, I'm sure that's not what Harrisonrules intended, but thats what regularly happens on footy forums, if you cared to explore.

FYI, I have high regard for Bruce's career at the Dees. Except for his last couple of seasons where he struggled with injury and form, he was a great servant of the club.

  4. JS

See above but basically the site needs to be rebuilt, as the server its on has gone to the dogs.

Is it possible to start afresh? Sacrifice the data and start again? Or is it worth the bother? Too much hard work, by the sound of it.

  5. For those who bag Bruce, you are denigrating a great and successful servant of the club. Unless you know him you won't know the real story. So keep your derogertory statements to yourself, because you only know half of the facts.

And because of the quality of the guy you won't hear it all

    *tear falls from eye*

So enlighten all of us, or your statement counts for zip. We are all anonymous keyboard heroes here.

  6. EXACTLY the same as most other non-finals clubs do at this time of the season. Even earlier for some teams, relative to how low they are on the ladder.

If the rules reward lower ladder positions in terms of draft, then teams with no finals chance will inevidively not worry about where they finish. In fact, as Hardwick has pointed out, it's a great chance to try out new players in new positions. Experimentation with nothing much to lose.

    Sounds familiar?

  7. Tarrant would love to end his career with a flag. And he's hoping to hell it ends that way. What a great send off that would be to end your playing days. He's playing for a top 4 team, probably on decent coin. Has already tried the interstate club swap, went back to where he started.

Green plays for a cellar dweller bunch with little hope of rapid climb. If he can't get success, he might as well chase the dollars. May get an assistant coaching gig, like Junior. Green's more of a planner than Taz, wants to coach, apparently.

  8. russian resigned for 3 years, current leadership group member...will play out his contract or retire before being traded

afterwhich he will probably join the club as part of the fitness staff (has his own pt company)

Inclined to agree that one must go, although I reckon clubs might place greater value on Stef Martin because he has more upside & scope for improvement. I think if Martin builds his endurance base further he has the potential to be an above average – to high level follower.

We appear to have backed Jamar in as first ruck, meaning we probably won’t get the best value out of him as a player if Jamar is fit. Spencer is doing well as the backup, but has little to no currency and probably lower potential. Gawn has the potential to be the best of the lot, but needs time, development, and a bit of luck on the injury front. Fitzpatrick also can be developed into a forward/ruck option and has shown a bit for Casey.

Thanks for the fitness business info, Rolly. Was not aware of that.

Good summation on our ruck stocks, Chaser. Martin will be treading water next year with us unless there are further injuries. A pity for him - he tends to play his best when given a stretch as first ruck.

  9. I'd love someone to point out anything that Jamar has done this year that Spencer hasn't, other than getting himself injured repeatedly.

Jamar (11th AFL season) - 13 games for ave 8.6 disposals, 2.2 marks, 1.5 tackles & 1 goal for the season

Spencer (5th AFL season) - 5 games for ave 7.2 disposals, 2.2 marks, 3.8 tackles & 1 goal for the season.

Considering Jake has played mainly as a second ruckman, I would suggest he outrates Jamar on all categories per time on ground.

If Jamar has another poor year in 2013 from injuries or form, he maybe on the chopping block this time next year.

May not be popular, but I believe one of either Jamar or Stef Martin should be traded, and The Russian probably has more currency ATM then he would in 12 mths time.

  10. The point is IIRC they changed the rules after the Pies raised a fuss over their staff being repeatedly poached??

As if they are the only ones...

I knew Dimwitreou upped the player poaching fine to $1000k, but I didn't think anti poaching rules extended to coaches or even recruiting guys.

So I guess the pies will not poach any employee of any other AFL team that is currently under contract. Yeah, right.........

In the end, might is right, I fear.

  11. It's an empty feeling losing someone that you love whole heartedly.

You don't get over it, you just get more used to it.

We love you Sam, and all the positive energy we can muster is heading your way.

  12. Yeah Micky O I remember this coming up earlier in the year as well and it seemed his contract witht he Pies was up before the current draft - there could be issues regarding the IP being taken from the Pies across to us though.

Honestly, who cares. Coaches, players and staff leap to other clubs regularly. We took Neeld. Ess took Wellman shortly after we re-signed him. Big deal.

IP is fluid and AFL might be big business, but it's a different kinda animal from most other industries. It's an industry unto itself and inconsistency is rampant. Just look at the MRP verdicts or the current tanking investigations, or need I even mention Mr 3 Strikes feeling 'groggy'.

It's a matter of power and control. If we want Taylor, will we take him now or will we say to Eddie, "sorry Mr Maguire, we'll wait till the contact is up and forgo his input into arguably the most important draft in our time?"

    Grow a pair, Dees!
