  1. .

I still would be open to Jamar for a good 1st Rnd Pick.

Especially if we don't get a decent trade for Martin. We could pump Martin in the 1st ruck, while spencer/gawn further they're comebacks, & then seek/look to trade next year.

With Spencer & Gawn available next year along with a hypothetical Martin scenario, we should have enough 'Cover' for one year to see us thru.

I'd like to find a way to get Grundy, for Jamar + something?

Don't say that Jamar bit too loudly around here. I did on the 'Jamar or Martin' thread, and got shouted down. Seems like Jamar is looked upon as untouchable, because he had one good season in 1942.

  2. Yep. It looks like a wind shift has hit the clubs this year thru trades. Trading has come into vogue for instant fixes rather than bottoming & taking the medicine.

Think we're doing a bit of both, with so many good picks initially. Team Neeld has played it well by getting in players with experience and attitude, whilst also planning for many years to come eg. Hogan

  3. I, for one am happy with this sudden change, But would have liked to have had P13 or P20 still available for the draft. But all in all, am relieved on our direction so far.

Still not out of the question to get a pick in the 20's or early 30's. Depends how the trades fall tomorrow. Either going to be a hectic last day or a fizzer. Lets see.

  4. If Cale had a shoulder reco recently, how would he be doing a fitness test at WCE? Wouldn't his arm be in a sling of some sort? I thought that shoulders had to be kept still for quite some time after a reco. I recall this being mentioned when Jurrah had his done.

Although the fella in the photo does look incredibly daggy, which I imagine Cale to be.

  5. Jamar is a better ruckman. He was injured this year.

    And the year before.

Jamar gets his hand to the ball in the ruck more than Martin. Take away his wrestle-ability with the new rule and you take away his strength. For the rest of the match, he does SFA.

As I've said in another thread, we have many rucks, and not much to show for it ATM.

Given this is a trade thread, I ask which has the greater trade value? Jamar.

  6. I can confirm Cale is attempting to go to the Weagles

    Cale in Perth

Asked how he was going, he replied "fingers crossed and see how we go."

I can confirm you have posted one grainy, inconclusive photo with a perfectly made up claim that will maximise attention.

    Well done, troll. Mission accomplished.

  7. You are right on with your comment RF. But again, the same can be said for anyone we take at pick 4. It will be interesting to see what the FD does should Grundy be available at 4. He's a rare talent, apparently. If GWS take him earlier, this is all moot, but interesting to speculate, none the less.

  8. Pederson only if it's a very late pick. Not the 30 something pick for Martin trade. Pede has been mentioned as possible backman. Don't know. Repacement for Riv? Heard on Gys thread that talk is of Martin and Gys to Bris for a decent pick. Gawn is contracted, right?

  9. What you mean he may have the potential to reach AA like Jamar already has; yes there's that of course. Anyway don't get snippy at me I was responding to a post in which you talked about Kruzer, I didn't start the talk about him. It is interesting though that some considered him to be a standout and certain to be number one but another player in the same draft, Cotchin is clearly a much better player.

Grundy may be a great player and he may not, he may be another Vickery or another Gawn or just another player that takes 5 years to finally come good.

Apologies mate. I didn't start the Kruezer talk either. Was sick of the sidetrack off topic. Didn't mean to take it out on you.

Your last comment is correct, but could be applied to any new player we take.

  10. I'm not a fan of Jamar Martin or Spencil. Gawn, TBH, is a kneeless unknown. Clark and Dawes should be fwds only. Yes, we have plenty of rucks, but with little to show for it. I acknowledge that Jamar's 3 year deal means we are committed. He has the potential to teach Grundy well. Sets us up for next 10 years in the ruck. Trade Martin, get rid of Spencer. Gawn is contracted (I think?). Fitz is VFL.

  11. Kruezer was a number one pick Jamar was a Rookie pick up. Kruezer hasn't, so far, been the player they thought he'd be and may never be.

Good work on the vigorous draft research RF. Must've taken ages. This Kruezer sidetrack is becoming very dull.

Both take a place on an AFL list. In 4 playing years Kruezer at 23 has not hit the heights Carlton had hoped. Correct. He has also played prolonged periods in the fwd line, partly due to a need for key fwds there. He has much more potential than Jamar to reach the heights again over a number of years. I want a quality ruckman for the next 8-10 years. I want Grundy. Fact.

  12. No, even on the anonymity of a forum, some posters are more credible than others. Of course nobody will score a 10 out of 10 on believability; every single thing you read on here is second hand (since nobody from the club posts on here in an official capacity except for Cam Schwab occasionally), so even the highly credible posters will get bum information sometimes, or misinterpret what they've heard etc. It doesn't mean that you can't get a feeling for things that at least have some basis for fact and who usually posts good information.

Good luck with that. When I "get a feeling" from the internet, the last thing I'd do would be to look at it as the "basis for fact". That's on a par with Dennis Denuto's 'its the vibe'! Lol!

If its worth stating as a hard fact, it's worth acknowledging a source.
