The rules say they should be included in the TPP (unless for approved and declared 'marquee' payments) as it is a form of cheating the salary cap.

MFCSS says if we did it, some disgruntled ex-player, ex-official would 'sing' and we would be fined for 'not doing something everyone else does' ala fine for 'not tanking'.

Yes, would be just our luck

However, Jaguar could 'loan' a player a lovely new car for the terms of the contract. Or Tourism NT 'gives' a family holiday during the off season to a recruit. Or a sponsor sells a block of land at a remarkably cheap price along the coast to a sister of player X

  2. Didnt a club just recently offer a new car to a player as an incentive to swap over clubs? That one is pretty obvious. Any range of sponsors or like minded companies can offer incentives outside TPP.

Salary cap is for appearances only. Typical Gil. Nothing to see here!

Who was the last 'big' name that went to those 3 clubs? Martin... he's getting paid $1.7 million front ended.

    Case closed.

At the time, these were big names:

Dylan Shiel and arguably Devon Smith.

    Brad Hill and Jake Carlisle

And as you said, Jack Martin

But it would be correct to say big names are more likely to move to successful clubs. Not always. Most players play for 1) Success, 2) Money and 3) Mateship

As I mentioned the other day, the positioning of our list is very Richmond 2013-2016. An elite core with some decent support players and then a marked drop off at the bottom.

We've now even got the Martin going to North equivalent with Clarry to Carlton. It can turn quickly.

I reckon Richmond's Brownlow spread would have been similar in those aforementioned years to ours tonight.

Fix the system, bring in Yze, two or three other highly rated assistants, add Brown, Smith, Phillips and a speedy pressure forward or two and we'll be in the top 4 mix next year. The competition is soft. Richmond can't keep it going forever, Geelong are getting old. No one else scares me.

In the last 4 years I've regularly thought we haven't seen the 'worst' 6-8 on our list improve much.

I say worst becsuse anyone on an AFL list is obviously a reasonable footballer, to start with

I'm not a fan of the Brownlow as a means of rating players, but this team run down illustrates to me that we have a number of excellent players, but the quality drops off remarkably from there. Haven't had a look, but my guess is the Richmond vote spread is less lop sided

Because you don't know if there are any, therefore you should not say you are dissaponted.

So until a player comes out we must assume there are none? And therefore the topic must be shut down? What a ridiculous proposition!

    Sorry for the deja vu

But you do realise contacts can be broken. You also dont know any if the details on how their structured and what incentives and options there are.

Who cares and you have no idea what your talking about.

    What are you... 13?

    Go away

  8. Hope its not 3 years. Doesnt matter that he was drafted later than most. He'll be 32 at the end of this year and missed some games with injuries. Do we really need a guy running around for us at nearly 35?

One year, sure. Two, perhaps. Three??? Nah. Unless the 3rd is purely a coaching role

  9. Wish Shaw the best and hope he gets all the help he needs.

I believe North wanted Blakey to coach with Roos to assist. But Blakey is reluctant as he prefers the assistant role.

Archer called an emergency meeting of the NMFC board earlier in the year to work on a path forward

Ben Amarfio trying to run the whole show despite being there for 5 mins,  pissing everyone off

And apparently they are still paying out Brad Scott from last year

North are in a huge hole. Surely the AFL will need to step in

He actually sounds like a nutcase, Obama has nothing to do with those things

And that has zero to do with him allegedly being racially vilified

As usual you are using the straw man line.

Big deal if he's an odd cat. Does that justify him being called a monkey?

So you don't like him because he's an attention seeker. Seems to me the one person on this thread seeking attention is you

  11. Would be interesting to read a report of each club's finances without the creative accounting

Don't Brisbane and Carlton have significant debts? Interest rates are very low, but they won't always be so.

Did the Hawks take a loan on Dingley or did they fund it themselves? Careful Jeff... there but for the grace of god go I.

North must surely be in trouble. 'Tassie Kangaroos' sounds good to me.

The pandemic will create opportunities for long lasting change in the AFL

  12. Bombers imploding, and now North imploding:

Will Rhys Shaw be coaching again? Don't think so. Wish him good health though

Longbow called crisis meeting of board earlier in the year

A prodigal son is reluctant to be Kangas senior coach in 2021. Will need help like we had.

Could all be just a Roos though.

North are not Scott free of outstanding coaching payments. Hard to pay out two senior coaches and have $ for another

Players given up, assistants given up. The clean out continues. Armafio trying to call the shots, but hasn't earnt the right yet. Pissing many off.

North are sliding so far south, AFL thinks they might need a better map of Tassie in the next couple of years.

It will take an almighty effort for them to turn around. They are truly in the [censored] hole
