I know our Pick 23 has been widely mooted as the potential or probable pick to be used for the for Brown, just wanted to get peoples thoughts on here if they'd be happy if we gave over next year's first round pick for Brown?

There's no question that North have lost a lot of their bargaining power given they've publicly told Brown he's not a required player and if all reports are true and that Brown will likely nominate us it also puts more of the onus on them to get it done. A lot of the recent talk is that everyone is in disbelief that North could let him go for anything less than a 1st round given he's kicked 60+ goals 3 out of the last 4 years.

Obviously we'd all be hoping 23 gets it done, but if another club say Essendon or Collingwood came circling offering a better draft hand and more money for Brown, I think I'd be comfortable letting next year's 1st pick going with maybe some other later picks coming back to ensure we got this guy coming to our club.

What about mfc 2021 first round pick (say, 7-10) for Brown and 2020 pick we traded to North (currently 9, but likely to end up around 15 or 16 with academy, f/s and fa compo picks). We could throw in a 3rd rounder (tmac?) as well to sweeten the deal.

Then trade this pick from North plus something else (Preuss or future selection?) for a pick high enough to land McCrae, if the North pick isn't considered high enough

If Brown has made up his mind up to come to us is there any reason why he cant nominate us now like other players have?

That's absolutely true, DOX, and might happen very soon, but personally I'm very happy with a club that gets things done quietly than foghorns it out clumsily. eg. Collingwood with Adams.

Of course, i'm assuming Brown has chosen MFC

  3. Even if the Evil Doctor is wrong, I find it just a bit of fun and good entertainment. IMO he doesn't take it too seriously and I suspect he won't throw the toys out of the cot if wrong, unlike some others

Soon you will be a hero or villain.

Yes, but Dr Evil has a laugh at it as well. Doesnt take himself or the topic too seriously, which is an important distinction. If wrong, no doubt he'll cop it, but I can't imagine Dr Evil retracting or get cut when wrong

Smith is coming to Melbourne, just like Brown.

    Thats bold.

Should this not occur, you'll have more egg on your face than our other Demonland Nostradamus!

Not just this, but AFL actually let their salary cap cop, Ken Wood, walk when they shed staff.

I would have though he'd be the guy you would want on board with the changes flagged (even if he was on decent coin).

So who's doing the overseeing of trades and cap space during trade week to ensure 'integrity', and I use that term lightly...

I wouldn't do Brayshaw for Billings. The former is a much better player. Sure, Billings had a better 2020, but it would take more than Billings to make me trade Gus.

Uh oh, there's those rose coloured glasses again, A F!!!

  9. Said it before, those with good inside mail aren't posting here (probably with the exception of the good Dr)

But its all a bit of fun for s**ts and giggles, no need for anyone to take it personally.

I agree the big issue for the dees is not the top 12 players, it is the next 28

Yes, we have a band of players beyond the top 12 who should be roll players but simply do not have the skills to fulfil that job. The roll players at Richmond are able to minimise errors or turnovers that cost goals. I note that several players interviewed after the game last night mentioned "the process", trust the process, or execute the process well. Even when they were behind in the first half, these guys knew if they played their roll it would turn around.

As a side note, North will have a stack of vacancies on their list. Brown, Higgins, Polec and the 11 delisted already. Possibly more. I suspect if they cannot attract players beyond Corr, they will look to load up on picks. How they do that well with no coach or assistants is another matter. Will be an interesting trade week
