THE 2018 AFL NATIONAL DRAFT
I reckon we mostly pick players that barely anybody in this thread mentions. Most posters moan about the picks on draft night. Fast forward a couple of years and the majority of our picks turn out to be great players while almost all of the ones that the masses on here wanted based on phantom drafts and a brief highlight reel end up flopping. Rinse and repeat.

PICKS # 26 & 31 (formerly # 23 & 28)
7 spots to fill as it stands. Sounds like one, two or three of Maynard, T Smith or Keilty will be upgraded.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Michael Gleeson reports that the final and biggest piece of the interconnected mega trade is expected to be completed in the next hour. The essence of the deal is: Jesse Hogan and Melbourne's fourth round pick will move to Fremantle for picks six and 23. Melbourne will trade pick six to the Suns for Steven May, Kade Kolodjashnij and a Suns fourth round pick.

No chance of 6 and 11. Zilch.

Looks like it's heading the way of; OUT: Hogan, Pick 46 or 54 IN: May, KK, Pick 19 Hogan a massive loss but the compensation seems somewhat fair.

Lachie Neale to be a lion within the hour as reported on the AFL website.

Hawthorn. We only need that pick when there is a McDonald available at that pick anyway ?

Farewell Jesse Hogan
So sounds like we will end up doing the following; OUT: Hogan, one of picks 46 or 54 IN: May, KK, one of picks 18, 23 or 30 Fingers crossed it's pick 54 out and pick 18 in.

Freo didn’t make the 8 year offer. Jesse’s management did. Freo knocked it back.

I think the scenario has been that the Dees have requested pick 5 and 6 from Freo for Hogan. Freo have declined but said they will give us two first rounders if they can acquire them. Pending the deal for pick 5 from Brisbane to Freo for Neale, Freo will trade us pick 5 and pick 11 for Hogan and we will then trade pick 5 to GC for May and enter the draft in the first round at pick 11. GC will not accept pick 11 for May knowing full well their compo at the end of next year would be a much higher draft pick. Edit: Swapping or trading of later draft picks will also be involved for the Dees to acquire KK from the Suns.

Lukosius or Rankine. They're ahead of Adelaide in the draft now.

Changes v Eagles - Preliminary Final
Tyson and too hard to pick the other, they would be seriously unlucky. Probably one of Hannan, Spargo or Fritsch.

As a Geelong based Melbourne fan, I would love nothing more!

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
We get the best intercept defender in the league who is tracking even better than Rance did at his age and a heap of you are still whinging. The draft is a complete lottery. Lever is a sure thing. This is to be celebrated not bemoaned!

Gryan Miers
I watched the TAC Cup grand final and he was unbelievable. Did some seriously freakish things. Would not be disappointed to see him in the red and blue next year and beyond.

But.. but.. I thought that anonymous nobody on Facebook/Twitter said Melbourne were out of the race for Lever...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
A few of the standout things from the highlight package on the MFC website. - Smashes through contests like a raging bull - Lays bone-crunching tackles - Looks like he has a heap of time when he has possession - Makes good decisions with ball in hand - Can execute a perfect handpass even whilst getting tackled - Is excellent at taking overhead marks - Can push forward and kick goals Very happy to have this kid at the MFC and here's hoping for a long and successful career.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
I wasn't referring to their height, I was referring to their build. Fyfe started out as just skin and bones, Parish is very light too. Just because Parish is 10cms shorter than Fyfe doesn't mean there isn't potential for him to put on a heap of muscle just like Fyfe has. Don't get me started on the height of midfielders either, there are plenty of current 'small' mids who are elite.
