  1. Fevola is a proven goalkicker at AFL level and Brad Gotch is committed to having him in his team if he can reach the required level of fitness. In light of this, why not take advantage of what Fevola can bring to Casey and to his Melbourne listed team mates (and I'm being serious here)? To get where he was at Fevola had to have some special talent and skills and if our blokes can learn the good parts of his game then it can only benefit the cause. People are underestimating our players if they think Fevola will lead them astray and turn them into monsters. However, if he can turn them into hardened footballers who can play with a bit of mongrel, then it's not all bad.
  2. Maric gets his third. One of the few (along with Jetta) who have done their job on the day. Anyway, it's all over red rover and we go down to the wooden spoon favorites by 29 points - 12.6.78 to 16.11.107. Goals: Maric 3, Watts 2, Bate, Dunn, Jamar, Jetta, Martin, Petterd & Sylvia. Likely opponent next week - Hawthorn with Bruce and Cheney in Tassie. Looking forward to it.
  3. Lions 16.11.107 Dees 11.6.72.
  4. Bate at last ... 29 points down.
  5. Lot of players missing but you'd still want to see some commitment at the football. Six goals down and poor finishing.
  6. Hard trying to find positives as we're fading out for the second week in a row. Problems in midfield and don't look fit. Three quarter time Melb 9.5.59 Bris 13.9.87. Goals: Watts 2, Dunn, Jamar, Jetta, Maric, Martin, Petterd & Sylvia
  7. Bennell looking ok but the team is not. Brisbane in control.
  8. Jamie Bennell (shoulder injury). Down 16.
  9. The old catch up football.
  10. Half Time - we trail by 10 points. Goals to Dunn, Jetta, Maric, Martin, Sylvia & Watts Luke Tapscott v. promising for what is virtually his first hit out with the club. Classy disposer of the ball compared to some of his more seasoned teammates. Hope we bring out some system after the break.
  11. Very much like the Essendon game. Disposal and decision making is aweful.
  12. We're struggling to beat the competition's easybeats in our home state. Yes, we have a much weakened defence but we should be doing better. Dees 5.2.32 Lions 5.6.36
  13. NAB Challenge Dees 4.2.26 Lions 3.4.22 - quarter time at Visy Park Goals to Dunn, Jetta, Martin & Sylvia
  14. Good luck with this - it's a tough ask to do something like this in that region if you go by newspaper reports.
  15. This time last year they beat us by the same margin in the NAB Challenge Match at Visy Park. Big deal. It was a pre season game and Bailey was trying out some things that didn't work on the night. My spleen can vent on other things.
  16. Nathan Jones and Brent Moloney in the same midfield doesn't work. Too slow. Good call, bad call?
  17. OK, so let's assume that it's game on and our aim is to, at the very least, play a game or two in September this year. What is it that will improve our record from 8½ wins to the 11-12 wins we need to make the finals bearing in mind that we've lost two players in James McDonald and Cameron Bruce who not only provided great leadership but also have been regularly in the top 10 in our B & F? Give me a reason to believe in tomorrow!
  18. What is he now? Copper or bronze?
  19. Victory over Adelaide in Round 3. We didn't win a game during the pre season, were thrashed in round one and robbed the following week. We needed to prove to ourselves and to the world that we were capable of winning again.
  20. I remember that first game of 1997 when we shocked North. Sean Charles and Jeff Farmer were simply electric. IIRC they each kicked three goals and led the Kangaroo defenders a merry dance. The season unravelled soon after that though.
  21. Thank you very much.
  22. How does this work? Does Campbell automatically become a senior list player or does he have to be nominated by the club?
  23. I think those blokes must have had it so tough in the early days. I remember going to finals games at the G (early 70s) and hearing crowds racially abuse a bloke like Syd Jackson. You don't hear that these days!
  24. He was pretty big in the first place.
