Jack Watts Interview
100%. I can imagine there were draftees praying that we didnāt choose them. It appeared to be a career death sentence.

Grand Final Venue Watch
Even knowing it was coming this is a bitter pill to swallow. Am I correct in saying the extra week off after prelim is to allow for WA quarantine?

Toby Greene umpire contact
I remember Akermanis started becoming a burden on the club despite his footballing ability (different reasons but similar d-head issues). Leon Cameron and the leaders at the club need to pull him aside and in no uncertain terms tell him to pull his head in. You always want to see the best players out there, some of them get unlucky due to injury but when theyāre their own worst enemy it really does your head in.

Farewell Josh Mahoney
Joshās role during the Roos era should never be underestimated in the success weāre currently having. Good luck to him with the shot at the AFL GM role.

Toby Greene umpire contact
The early comments were immediately after the game and how he felt on the field, which is fair because he may have been more focused on speaking to Greene about what was going out on the field. His comments now refer to how it looks from his point of view seeing the visuals and what it means to be an official.

Toby Greene umpire contact
That will be very important to the defence, but remember optics played the bigger part in Vineyās suspension than the actual contact or physical harm to the player. The image of one of the games top players walking through the umpire and showing blatant disrespect harms the league at the grass roots level.

Heās only 19! If he keeps going this way he wonāt have any real teeth left! Listen to your mother, Dogga! š

Medical Sub
It needs to be changed next season earning a game against your tally as a sub. Surely someone can go back after the game and add the game played if they pull off the vest.
-
POSTGAME: QF vs Brisbane
Itās all well and good to say that but the sub is there for a reason, if we have a player go down in the first quarter then Jones is playing a full game. Look what happened to Brisbane. Iām not saying Jones wouldnāt be ready to go but itās a gamble putting a club champ in as the medi-sub if he isnāt picked on form and fitness (heās barely played a competitive match in the last 2 months). If he puts a strong week of training and get himself in line to be picked then thatās a different story.

Will Nathan Jones get a farewell game?
Barring sudden injuries to JJ and Sparrow, and probably also Melksham and Vanders, I just canāt see him being put in the team even as the sub. Itās sad but it is what it is.

For me the only sport in the world that treats the officials with less respect is football (hate calling it soccer). When their players get a penalty/free kick they donāt agree with itās not uncommon for the ref to be surrounded by close to 10 players all getting in his/her face. Itās disgusting, itās disrespectful, and itās pathetic. AFL is only marginally ahead because I think they have a little bit more of a laugh, the 50m penalty exists as a deterrent, and thereās more transparency with the umpires micād up (the players also know this so they know they have to bite their tongue). But I would gladly have the tribunal come down hard on Greene if it makes the players show the proper respect the officials deserve. Jack Riewoldt shouldāve been given a massive fine for his comment to the umpire after the game say that he cost the tigers the win. Pathetic from someone who only a couple of weeks earlier was on his high horse about Pickettās attitude.

Welcome to Demonland: Bayley Fritsch
Quite happy with my comment here š. He seems to have taken the off-season to improve key parts of his game which include staying in the contest longer. His kicking has finally come good (action was always ok I felt he just needed an adjustment of direction and mindset), but whatās been great lately is heās tackling. For a player in his position that is huge.

Personally not worried, heās a cog in the machine, just needs to take his chances when they come.

Ben Brown Set to Debut
He played his role last night and is definitely allowing Fritta to be more of a threat. That miss from 15m on a slight angle thoughā¦š¤¦āāļø

Haha myself and my dad were in your sonās camp, we both had said to each other āTracās having a āgoodā game but he really needs to impact some big contests and score a goal or twoā, nek minut! š

Down to the umpire and if he felt threatened or that Greene acted in a disrespectful/demonstrative way towards him. The vision doesnāt look great but the more I watch it the less the contact seems forceful. The big thing though is you just never do that, with an official of any sport proper respect needs to be given that that includes ensuring you donāt initiate contact. I think heāll get the toughest fine and avoid the tribunal but it will be interesting to see. Heās a fantastic player but a *** of a bloke, it appears rather than try to pull his head in GWS have decided you take the good with the bad.

POSTGAME: QF vs Brisbane
Firstly, if we kick straight and are more efficient then this is 60+ point smashing. Itās baffling that we somehow managed to go goalless in the third quarter but that was not for lack of good play it was just poor use at the final point. They (the Dees players) made us (the fans) earn the win but we were far an away the better team from quarter time onwards. Oliver is a beast, I donāt think Iāve had more love for a Melbourne player. He is such a gun and the best thing is that now he is also hitting the scoreboard. He had so many score assists and if the forwards had done their job they would turn into more goal assists. But for them not to tag him was just plain ludicrous. Fritta brings so many smiles to my face, 50+ goals already from a mid-size forward is incredible. Looking back on how he came to the club and how we got him through the Jack Watts pick you really have to take your hat off to the Goody and the selectors. Prelim final means we get to relax and hope that the cats and GWS beat up on each other.

Perhaps the old āJack Viney, bad look for the gameā suspension?

GAMEDAY: QF vs Brisbane
That was some kind of half from Oliver, far and away BOG. Some better play from his teammates and we could be further in front. Some of my thoughts are: - we got the game on our terms that quarter, we were able to set up and prevent them from having any of the goals out the back they had in the first quarter - Oliver and the midfield got much better at winning second and third balls, clearances wise they still seem to be better but weāre working harder - we had a period where the ball was camped in our forward 50 but it took a while to get the goal, it was crucial we got that reward for effort otherwise I couldāve seen some frustration brewing - inaccuracy has cost us from having the game very close to put to bed. Petracca x2 was the most frustrating and TMac missing his one chance after having a quiet game was annoying in particular - third quarter is huge here because we let them get a sniff get ready for a tough final quarter. - them constantly winning the centre clearances is concerning and I really hope something is done about it

FINALS: Week 01 2021 (NON MFC)
Likewise, that goal right on 3 quarter time the difference in the end. GWS lucky though, Sydney had plenty of chances they should have taken.

Dees Snubbed in 30 Over 30
Off the top of my head I canāt think of one 30+ player at our club that plays a regular key role. Itās a great thing for our future!

GAMEDAY: QF vs Brisbane
Nervous, felt ok yesterday but now that the day is upon us Iām nervous. Itās hard to ignore that this is easily the best opportunity for us to win a flag and winning this week would set us up.
