Dogs did very well out of this deal IMO.
  2. I would love it if somehow it ended back with us! ?
  3. Hopefully the Martin deal will fall through (unlikely though). But hey who knows in this crazy world of ours.
  4. I won't so much be livid but I do want a player so if that falls through then we should be making them bend over for some other picks. Say 2020 2nd rounder as well.
  5. Darwin was always the game that the members hated, the players always seemed to look flat the following week. Keeping the Alice game means we still have an NT presence which I think is a positive, perhaps we’ll still do a Darwin pre-season game. Positive move for me and it also shows that they have listened to the members. If we really are going to get back into the contenders list then getting a home game back will help.
  6. I’d be trying to squeeze another pick out of them, say a late 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder (not sure what they have left).

I was thinking that as well but we had the room for Elliot, why not Papley?
  8. Especially since GWS said they weren’t going to give him up cheaply like they did with old $culldog. I don’t know how the Hawks do it, is their negotiator a Jedi or something!?
  9. It’s a very bold play, basically backing ourselves in to be back in the top 8. I would’ve liked a later pick back just to have as a little bit of currency at the end of the draft. But I’ll say this, we aren’t playing a safe option. We are going in saying next year that will be a late first found pick.
  10. Does make you wonder, so many other players out there clubs are taking shots on but Jenkins who has been a match winner in the past is now not event worth taking a cheap shot on.
  11. Sad that if he is good enough he won’t be following in his dad’s original footsteps. No doubt the Wiz played his best footy here but I’m 99% sure he ended up playing more at Freo in the end. He’s a WA kid so it’s understandable that he’d have a strong desire to remain there. Sucks but there ya go, could be that Jeff is also trying to create an almost bidding war between the Dees and Freo for him to give him a greater opportunity at getting onto an AFL list.
  12. Yep true, best 22 is a bit vague. I guess where I’m coming from with saying that is that it might be a 19-20 year old who’s on the up and border of being a walk up but has the upside to expect to jump almost straight in. But equally I see what you’re saying and a playing of Tomlinson/Langdon’s standing, that would walk into our top 15 players, would be of more value to us right now. Depends on needs though, if we’re getting a younger developing player that has the attributes we’re after (and the talent) then is he worth more than say a 24-26 year old who has attributes that we’re not as desperate for?
  13. My thoughts are if we’re splitting the pick then I’d look for a return of a top 10-15 pick and a player that is either walk up best 22 or bloody close and on the up (preferably will skill and pace in the package). Going to the draft with two lower first round picks is a lottery whereas pick 3 (while still a bit of a lottery) is giving us the 3rd crack at the best talent.
  14. I’d say very few; Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Geelong, and GWS are the only ones that spring to mind. I don’t think either of the Perth clubs train at the Perth Stadium, likewise for the Adelaide Oval. Although I don’t think this is the topic of the thread, in terms of making the G more of a home I really think we should’ve pushed for a social club outside of the MCC area. Perhaps it would be a flexible social club for the home teams game, and each club gives it its own name for their match days. Given the Great Southern Stand is getting a refurb I’d like us to move our shop into the upper part of the ground. It honestly feels like it’s deliberately hidden away down in the bowels of the G.
  15. Regardless of his injury woes (and other issues) I’d take him and back us in to be able to manage him. I agree that we have been the same club, we went against that brain for a short period taking Jurrah and Aussie, while they weren’t long term success stories imagine if we had a Liam Jurrah type now?
  16. Fair call Yoko, and credit to the club they chased Elliot to fill the forward role so they are at least trying something (I was concerned last year when we traded Jesse out but seemed content with our remaining forwards). There’s plenty of time remaining so hopefully we will be able to improve the forward line, you have stated in another thread it’s something we’re pursuing.
  17. Unless we’ve identified someone in the draft we like for a small/pressure forward position I would be extremely disappointed if we came away from the trade period without having filled that (so clearly) vacant spot in the team.
  18. I honestly thought we’d already delisted JKH, the club could seriously not see anything in him beyond the season just gone.
  19. With Tomlinson and Langdon arriving that improves our best 22, Langdon in particular is at a really good age for us and his best footy is ahead of him.
  20. At the end of the day though he’s got to want to come to us, even if Bell was annoyed at the Saints. And to be fair they tried to be really greedy with Hill and the Saints called their bluff to keep going with other trades, I actually admire the Saints for doing that. What would get the deal done for us?
  21. I was thinking about whether we could enter the conversation with Hill given the Saints have traded their first pick down. Would be more down to whether we can/want to try to get Hill through our door.
  22. Lost me at rating Harmes as a C (and lower than Josh Wagner!?). I'd have him around the B or B- mark, I understand he wasn't as productive this year but he's definitely better than Jonesy and KK. I will say this, our list is very difficult to rate. As we were so productive in 2018 and yet so off the boil in 2019. There are players that produced A grade quality in '18 and were closer to B- grade quality in '19. We also got a benefit last year of it clicking for a few average players all at the right time leading into and during the finals. Brayshaw, Harmes, Christian Salem, Christian Petracca, Mitch Hannan, Bayley Fritsch, Kade Kolodjashnij, and Sam Weideman are all younger players that are regular 22 who all have upside and great potential to have big improvements in 2020. Tom McDonald, Michael Hibberd, Jake Melksham, and Aaron Vandenberg are all players that have shown quality when fit. Hopefully clean runs will allow them to return to form. Tom of course had a horrifically bad first half on 2019 which injury can't allow for, but we have seen him at his best and a clean start to 2020, and hopefully a more defined forward structure with a connecting gameplan between midfield and forward line will allow him to regain his confidence. Lever, May, and Jetta are all critical members of our defence who were only allowed minimal game time together, fitness to all three could completely change the complexion of our very leaky defence. I'm not sure if he has a star category but surely Max falls in there while Oliver at this point sits in the A grade category but could easily move up next year. Simply put from my analysis (yes through rose coloured glasses), our team has a lot of upside that unfortunately relies on a few if, buts, and maybes. The ingredients for a competitive team are there, the question is whether Goody & co are able to make something of it (with fitness permitting for a few of them). My biggest concern centres around lack of pace, and lack of forward pressure.
  23. It would be interesting to see how he goes because if he is rated enough for around pick 3 and our recruiters feeling comfortable about using that pick for him potentially I'd be totally fine with us nominating him to prevent GWS from getting a basic free hit at him.
  24. I'd really like us to be holding out for our future 2nd rounder, play some hardball with them....oh wait we don't do that!
