Around the grounds.
I'll always remember walking into the MCG before all the new stands and lights were put in. Through the turnstyles, across the road, up the steps and popping out of the tunnel to see the ground. Dunno if it was cause I was a kid but got a sense of awe when seeing the ground near everytime. Seems to have lost that with the design now. Also remember it being really just a huge tin shed. Get 50-60 thousand in there and the place would dead set shake when the crowd got going. Has lost that atmosphere too IMO. Mainly watched MCG and VFL park games as we lived close. Now and then we'd slum it and go to opposition grounds. Never went to the Western oval or Kardinia Park though. Victoria Park was a real eye opener for a kid. Walking in there with my old man we were greeted with a row of retarded blokes in black and white wheelchairs outside the gates telling us to "Fork off Melbourne." 😱 Honestly, you didn't hear that sort of stuff at the G.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Not till later in the year did we dish out some floggings. They all thought they could come back if they kept up the pressure. We need to stamp our authority on the competition and when they look at the scoreboard and see they're 5goals down they think they're forked. Not, "If we keep up the pressure they'll choke."

Has 186 been laid to rest?
I remember a bloke on 'Ology who stated that if we ever did win a flag we'd find the joy of victory short lived and not what we thought it was cracked up to be. Well it was far better than what I thought it was going to be. By a long way.

Has 186 been laid to rest?
Getting flogged by both the Dawks and Essenscum in Grand Finals haunted me no end. Not sure I've even thought about those loses since the GF till now. Only reason I've thought about 186 is there seem to many around here who can't let it go and keep bringing it up.

Make no mistake. We were hunted throughout the whole of last year. Every-one wants to take down the undefeated mob sitting on top of the ladder. And with our reputation of choking when the pressure's applied they all thought they could be the ones to do it. This year we need to put that reputation to rest once and for all. Put the foot on their throats early and keep it there.

Has 186 been laid to rest?
As far as I'm concerned. Everything has been laid to rest. Apart from my undying hatred for Essenscum, I'm at peace.

Side note. Only West coast won another with their list 2 seasons later. We're gonna have to show the league how it's done.

Google. If the Demons win the grand final with the same team that defeated Brisbane in last week's qualifying final, only Collingwood (2010), Essendon (1993), the Western Bulldogs (2016) and West Coast (1992) will have claimed a premiership with a younger group. Coach Simon Goodwin fielded a team with an average age of 24 years and 180 days at the Adelaide Oval against the Lions. The Magpies' flag 11 years ago remains the youngest of the modern-era, with Collingwood winning the 2010 grand final replay against St Kilda with a team boasting an average age of 24 years and 57 days.

Luke Dunstan Excited for 2022
I watched Gus and Gawneys podcast when they had Goodwin on. They asked Goodwin who his favourite player was. And the answer was ...... Vines. "You watch his vision .... He's actually half mad." Point being .... If anyone thinks Dunstan is gonna walk past Viney into this side had better have a rethink. And he won't be getting past Sparrow IMO either. He's a gem.

Gawny's Captains Diary
One major minor error was glossing over the GF win IMO.

Sounds an interesting read. What sort of examples of corruption does it talk about?

The game has passed by a heap of commentators. Daisy Pearce explaining to Brian Taylor why they didn't "Stick it out infront of Kozzie!" a prime example. Cannnot believe Mark McLure has a job these days. Gerard Healy ......- POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
My daughter declared she wanted to watch the 1st 2 matrix movies againn before she shes the latest one. Told me the 1st times she watched them she was just a kid and didn't understand what was going on. I told her I've watched them both twice as an adult and I still don't understand 'em.- POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
Didn't watch or listen to the radio calls of the 2nd or early part of the 3rd qtrs for a few weeks after the game. Just wanted the good parts. But I've found watching and listening to the whole game just makes the comeback better. Commentators were gearing up to hang the Norm Smith around Bont's neck and then get blown away by 10mins of power the football world won't soon forget. To be fair the whole last month of games was power football starting half way through rd23. A comeback for the ages against geelong taking top spot for the home and away. Comfortable win against respected Lions. Destroyed the cats in the prelim with Gawn on fire. And then after abit of to-and-fro, suddenly ripping the dogs hearts out on Grand Final day. - POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs
