This is the issue with the new dangerous tackle rule they're ramming through. If you are the tackling player you cannot go in for a tackle being half hearted and gentle because the finely tuned athlete in peak physical condition with the ball is going to blast straight through you. In every game there are blokes playing to stay in the team, playing for contracts, their teammates confidence etc. Coaches place a very high priority on tackles to pressure the ball carriers into mistakes. They are also coached to drag the players to the ground as handballs while being thrown to the ground are far harder to hit than when standing up in a tackle. Agree 100%. I was annoyed when no-one backed Kozzie last weekend when the big Carlton goose stood over him in the goal square. Reminded me of what Flash had to endure once Neitz retired and Daveys form dropped because of it IMO. Apart from Viney who's a little bloke we are far too nice as a team.
