I remember thinking during the 1st qr of the season after several very soft frees against us. "Ya know what, if this is the AFL vision of how they want the game umpired from now on ..... I'm about done." And then watching us proceed to absolutely butcher the season has done nothing to bring me back. If more of the same is dished up next year ..... I'm gonna have to cut my ties completely. I've had it up to 'ear with the angst this club has given me throughout my life. And as I've had plenty of practice, I'll be able to spot the BS early. Unlike the happy clappers.

I'd like to think they have some professional pride but it seems historically as a club, we have little.

Loved the Wiz. He could light us up like no other. And he loved us.
-
And the Dawks won multiple flags with Hodge down one end and Roughy up the other. Can we get Roughy as a forward coach?

Compare these clips. The difference is stark.

100% Our skills were just as bad. We had the highest inside 50 count with mindless bombs but a deplorable conversion rate. Goodwin spun it calling it "Chaos ball." Problems were masked by a fit list and getting some confidence at the right time of the year.

If they actually watched any of our games they'd realise we were just hopeless.

I liked the message WYL. He looks like he been on the turps tho'.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Fork 'em replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Was worse when Rhino Richards was the dictator. He'd bait you then put you in the slammer for responding. -
You can feel that psyche among our supporters during games as well as we are often far more subdued than than the oppositions. Wary for the inevitable collapse. We saw some good footy last year, but also enough god awful cr@p to make me apprehensive for the coming year.

People would ask me at the start of the season " How the Dees gonna go, should do well." etc, etc ....... Being confident for us. I'd reply "Listen, I'm a Melbourne supporter, anything could happen." And of course it did. I can never, ever, be confident with this mob. Well, confident they'll let me down ...... And usually big time.

Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"

Half the reason I think Goodwin plays "Chaos Ball." Knows the players he has can't hit targets to save themselves. -
Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"

The two back flanks would rush the bounce to create more numbers at the fall of the ball and the opposition had to choose whether their forwards would run in with those players or stay back to create a 6 on 4 in our backline which they labelled the "Diamond Defence". This was due to the 4 players guarding space in a diamond formation. All good when when won the clearance, not so good when we didn't, or turned it over. Russian roulette stuff. -

Roosy: "Deplorable" Dees have "no recognisable brand"
Fork 'em replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
At the time Roos stated that he chose Goodwin because their footballing philosophies were very similar. Roos was always ultra defensive whereas Goodwin has proven to be all out attacking sacrificing 2 defensive players to rush the bounce from the back of the square, relentlessly playing on and bombing the ball inside F50 anyway you can. Their philosophies are polar opposites. Roos was duped. -
Richmond can hit targets. We cannot. If you can't hit a target now and then it won't matter what game plan you have.

Cause no Aussie athlete would take performance enhancing drugs on purpose. We're far too righteous for that.

To get some new blood flowing. And lets face it. He's been holding his spot by the skin of his teeth for the past 2yrs. I couldn't care less if we get nothing. Retire/Leave doesn't matter. And we should make calls the other NQR players as well for that matter rather than persist with what clearly isn't working. Compare Hawthorns record over the past 50yrs to ours.
