  1. I get the question marks but i really feel like smith could be a best 22 lock and potentially a real star. Has x factor, is super athletic. It goes without saying much depends on injury but fingers crossed he can put those woes behind him.
  2. Brilliant post from a poster called rumpole!
  3. Add giph of the opening of The Twighlight Zone here
  4. Foot speed is important in so far as a team needs one or two really quick players, but more as an attacking option. And as has been noted by some posters there is different types of speed - burst, 100 metre sprints and speed over say 300 metres. But agree the need is over played a bit, particularly for the wing role Tomlinson will play. Agree that we struggled badly on that wing position to cover opposition switches etc last season but whilst poor positioning and structure might have contributed I think the key issue was our lack of fitness and elite endurance runners. Funnily enough (Given he is a key forward) i think this was really exacerbated by the loss of hogan who ran hard up and down the wing. ANB gets a game because he is one of few players who has the endurance to cover that outside lane and the area between rhe arcs offensively and defensively. Conversely gus's lack of fitness was exposed in that position (on that i suspect rumours of him carrying an injury last year and that being the reason he did not play as a pure mid are true). Also agree that Tomlinson represents terrific value for us. Good pick up. The fact we have not had to give up any picks or players is more than just icing on the cake. It is huge as it helps us in this trade period and potentially means we can draft a higher pick than if we had to haggle for him. Great posts on this topic deanox by the way.
  5. Blimey, that's a steep price. Terrific player but 25ish and has only played 2 seasons.
  6. Surely pick 3 gets it done for Kelly?
  7. I wonder if the rumour re listed to Cox but the destination club was muddled. I don't want Cox (leave it alone ds)
  8. Do you barrack for the dees? Serious question.
  9. I hope he tries that against us.
  10. What about the detective and gaff for pick 3?
  11. Gaff, in my view, is precisely the player we need. Given his age i wouldn't give up pick three. But gaff and their first round pick (14?) might get the deal done?
  12. I have no idea and have zero inside info. But I have this funny feeling our pick 3 is a big factor in terms of other clubs wanting/needing it. West coast need something to land Kelly. Would 3 and maybe a pick coming back get gaff? No need then to include Brayshaw in the mix.

    We're elite in that stat.

Why not go the whole hog and call us The Gosh's paddocks
  15. A huge factor for goody. make no mistake goody is following the hardwick path in terms of game plan (very similar, though of course not the same) - forward of centre, contest out, get the ball forward at all costs, chaos entries inside 50 etc - and the critical importance of having the the right culture.
  16. Exactly right PSD. Add two elite endurance runners who can provide switching options offensively and gut run defensively to cover opposition switches and tic tac options. Combine with a list that comes back six weeks earlier, has fewer surgeries and players in rehab and gets a high percentage of sessions under their belt and get the miles in the legs. Equals a completely different team able to prevent easy opposition ball movement and transition and run out quarters and games.
  17. They're referring to this site.
  18. He's asking for urine? Strange. Maybe that's we're trading him.
  19. I was thinking yesterday who was the last player I was really excited about recruiting from anorher club. And it was mitch clark. How good was his first few games? Before that? Kelvin Templeton.
  20. Breust or gunston both make sense. Good kicks. Hawks have recent history of moving long term players on. Are rebuilding. And maybe keen in frost. Straight swap?
  21. Excellent summary of his strengths and why we have got him.
  22. And the pies paying overs next year for him.
  23. That is an indictment on the lions. An embarrassment.
  24. This is the reason we want him and why he is an immediate lock. We seriously lack endurance runners. It is why the much maligned anb got a new contract. Modern footy is all about defensive gut running. Listen to Oliver's speech from the bluey for evidence of that.
  25. Fair dinkum I'm just about over this site. Are you being serious. The blues and the saints are competitive environments? Based on what? That both sacked their coach half way through last season because both teams had been rubbish for years? Or that neither have played finals in donkey's years? Or that one has only won one flag and the other not in decades? And we are designed to building through the draft? Did you miss the memo we have locked in Langdon and Tomlinson, chased elliot and no doubt will look to bring in another established player. Fair dinkum. Is a modicum of logic too much to ask?
