  1. Snake Baker is my prototype for the nickname...
  2. Thanks Pro, Having an MFC player with the nickname "Snake" gladdens my heart...
  3. And said Melbourne have done a great job in not letting any of the "more to it" stuff out...
  4. Whoever is on Watts, the instruction will be to play through that player as often as possible
  5. Usually agree with you SWYL, and respect your comments. But that sort of innuendo has no place
  6. Fair comment, Doc. Don't feed the anonymous trolls is good advice. Should have taken it. Like many of us, I've been critical of Jack, but don't want to see him go. Over and out
  7. "Trojan horse" is a particularly interesting comment. Something that isn't what it appears, and something used to smuggle in "the soldiers". The superficial aspects of the Watts trade are really a distraction? - the intent of the trade isn't so much to get Watts out, but to achieve another end? I wonder what that might be? bring a full stop to the Bailey/Neeld/Schwab era? (But we've still got Jones - and Garland) Or is Watts not the trojan horse --- someone else is other than they seem? Goodwin? Mahoney? Someone seeking to get all the attention focused on Watts, while really having another aim? If there is any truth in beelzebub's "Trojan horse", then it's pretty worrying...
  8. We had to live through the machinations of 186 - and the politics of that day nearly killed the club. I hope to high heaven this isn't political or personal. Like most of us, I just don't know. Some on here seem to suggest they know stuff... Me - I think he's improved, and I wouldn't trade him
  9. Like many, I suspect, I'm torn. Watched him since day 1 - very talented, but not reliable in a contest. <Not> similar in approach to David Gower or Mark Waugh - they were hard as nails, with sublime skills. I <do> remember his marking in defense on plenty of occasions - QG being the last. Makes me sad that he's leaving.
  10. Jones: wishes "Wattsy" all the best, no matter what happens
  11. Jones - summary of his speech: stop talking, start delivering.
  12. watts getting the huge ovation for the 150 games
  13. who ever it is, I'd play through him every time
  14. Ahhh... the perennial issue. In this case, "shall", as expressing pure futurity. (cf futility). Fowler (again), emphasising how lucky we are here a D'Land manor to be manner born: the idiomatic use, while it comes by nature to southern Englishmen ... is so complicated that those who are not to the manner born can hardly acquire it And I think that's enough of that!
  15. I was thinking about this issue, and realised that if Fowler were to hand I would have more to contribute...
  16. This is what makes D'land special Next thing you know, we'll be discussing the subjunctive.
  17. Do you think they aren’t aren’t across this? If that’s the case, then there’s a serious intra club issue.
  18. PJs involvement can only be good and that lifts the gloom a little for me. Can you expand on ‘not in the way of “mediator”’? Please.
  19. No too much to disagree with, but he worked his ass off to get that clear space.
  20. I've not been a fan, but have admired his skills and his loyalty. Last year against Hawthorn, he was going one way and Lewis coming the other... Watts bent over and picked up the ball, and Lewis didn't commit. I thought that might be a turning point. And QB this year - the best of Watts - speed, hard running (not ignored this time) and real coolness under pressure. I hope this is the right decision... It's a big one, and Goodwin has a lot riding on it. I just hope this isn't a Neeld moment. The FD have been pretty good over the last little bit, and this one is one of the biggest decisions. Won't quite be the same at the G.
