  1. When you are effectively last of course there is a chance of improvement. The hard bit is achieving it. With our list and the possible changes we can make in 2014 I would think four wins will be a big improvement.
  2. Costs more and they have a large captive audience in the majority who are not Foxtel subscribers. Why bother!
  3. With apolgies to Redleg I return after my "Return to the past" last night to find much nashing of teeth, angry and dismay by a large number of Dees supporters. I am believe it or not quite surprised. It is not as though it came out of the blue, in fact we have been heading down hill rapidly since the later part of 2011. This seaon has been worse than even my low expectations and I honestly expected to get beaten on saturday by 6 goals which I think was what I said on Friday. So in all honesty what is the big surprise guys? What with all the angry? The totally expected happened.
  4. I lost my taste for rope three seasons ago jazza
  5. I hope desperately you are correct OF I just don't see it. That line I agree with, unfortunately a long slow grind awaits.
  6. You can well say I am too negative but based on my observations over the few couple of years I believe Grimes and Trengove are as good as they are likely to get. Jamar is past it after really one good season in his time at the MFC M Jones, Clisby , Kent and Terlich are battlers who are barely if at all AFL standard. I doubt any one of them would make it onto any other AFL team's list.
  7. Sorry to be so negative YD but from the above I have the view that Clark may never play again, Jamar is past his best. Spenser and Gawn offer more, Evans is injury prone and won't make it, What you see with Trengove is as good as it gets. Hogan looks good, and Viney is too young to be to be the great white hope in 2014. Not a lot from that lot in 2014 IMO
  8. We are the worst team in the competition. The major conclusion you have to draw is that we do not have the players. I Did a list a couple of weeks ago Of. IMO these are not AFL standard or over the hill. Tynan, Mckenzie, Blease, Strauss, Pedersen, Gillies, Nicholson, Sellar, Tapscott, Bail, Jetta, Jamar, Kent, M Jones. Over the Hill - Davey, J Macdonald. WE then have Taggert, who knows. Viney, Toumpas who we expect to be world beaters in their first year in any other team they would be spending the year at VFL level. Evans has some skill but in injury prone, in my view does not contribute enough to be on the list. We then have a few who are barely AFL standard that probably would not be on any other AFL team's list
  9. They had a lot of injuries to their good senior players in 2010 The majority returned in 2011. Hence big improvement. The MFC has no Good senior players injured or otherwise.
  10. Their vehicles are marginally better than our team.
  11. You are actually correct dc. 20 of them are not AFL standard players
  12. Those picks will be useful in the 2016 season. What are you going to do next year?
  13. I doubt we are going to agree on the talent of our list iv'a. IMO we have the worst list in the competition by some margin. You cannot pull your socks up if you don't have any on. Simply because you were a good under age player means just that. There are lots of players selected in the first 50 players every year that do not make it. We have unfortunately managed to pick way more of the "don't make its" than to "do's".
  14. Like you Redleg it will take me sometime to "Get over it" as WJ suggests. I think my time frame is probably 3 years. That is min. time I think it is going to take to escape from this list.
  15. It is not the coach that is the problem. WE simply do not have the cattle. JC could not get better results from this mob. No matter who is appointed for 2014 they will need to begin a big rebuild of the playing group. That is IMO going to take 3 years. So mjt this time next year be prepared for a similar postion where it will look like the coach has not achieved all that much.
  16. I agree with a lot of what you say above Iv'a However there is one vital missing ingredient SKILL Port had a number of players that were clearly better than ours. Everything comes back to one fact. We have drafted some shockers over the last 6 years. Nothing will compensate for their replacement. It is going to take 3 - 4 years to remedy that problem. IMO there is not going to be any quick turn around. Just a slow painful journey back to respectability.
  17. jr Grimes is a half back He is played in the mid field because he is the better of a sorrow bunch. The same applies to Trengove, he is a half forward. Melbourne will be a good side when these guys are not needed for the mid field.
