  1. I was literally out in the bush today and neither heard nor saw the game ( just as well it seems).

I always read this thread and appreciate Joeboy being prepared to put it out there, as they say.

However, @Return to Glory is consistently an insightful and knowledgable poster whose view should be respected.

    Interesting debate.

Four umpires… is there any other sport where two umpires make a different decision at the same time. One called mark and the other called play on, at the exact same time. What a joke.

Fair call Ethan. We can only wait in joyful anticipation of the day when all four umpires make different decisions simultaneously !

Just have a relaxing read of Carlton's Big Footy site .

Thought I would share this eloquent line.

"Just because you roll the [censored] in some glitter near the end of the game doesn't stop it being a [censored]. "

( for censored read - " solid piece of fecal matter "

Yeah Collingwood players would then become ICEHOLES! How appropriate!

That's your fourth post today picket ...... and you haven't upset anybody !!!!!!!

You need to lift your game !

  5. I just sent the Domestic Staff outside for 10 minutes to see how wet and cold they got. That "litmus test" told me it's a terrible day so I'll be an armchair supporter for this game.

I realise that wet ****ty days have'nt suited us in recent years but i reckon the weather might even things up today. Endeavour and motivation will be major factors in the result.

    Dees by 13 points.

  6. Just back at The Manor.

We squandered our chances today and that cost us ....... but ...... [censored] ..... that was some of the worst umpiring I have ever seen.

On a positive, our crop of recent draftees are fantastic!

  7. After a hiatus caused by my Manorial duties your good old Uncle Bitter will be back at the G today to watch us play the Dorks.

I'm [censored] that Viney is out as I love watching him play. He gets some stick on this forum - and that baffles me. I know he's not pretty but jeez I'd have his name inked onto the team sheet before the selection meeting starts.

JVR comes in and needs to show what he can do. I saw him leading and taking one grabbers in the pre season and tipped him for a breakout year. Confidence is an elusive entity.

Jeffo showed some promise before injury but he is still a question mark. However, as that esteemed judge of all things football @picket fence rates him highly, I expect him to do a bit.

Clarrie is back - please show us you are still the champ we know.

Some commentators on this forum expect Fritta to play a defensive forward role. It's not him. He's an opportunist and a goal kicker - give him licence to do that. If we are going to win today, we need score involvements from Fritsch.

Turner will have to play back. That's not a bad thing as his athleticism will be handy against The Dork's small forwards.

Max is coming up against a decent ruck today so a big one from him could decide the issue.

This is a huge game for us and due to our ****ty start it will be genuinely season defining.

We need a few things to click today but ...... Dees by 21 !

  8. I was loitering in Lancefield today when this senior lady asked me if i'd escort her across the road as she was feeling " a little shaky".

Ever the gentleman , your good old Uncle Bitter assented. The good lady noticed my Demons polo top and introduced herself as Jake Lever's grandmother.

She was a delightful lady and we had a pleasant conversation about the Dees.

    It was a nice moment.

I have tried to look at this rationally and logically but .... no matter how hard I try .... I just can't get angry or indignant at a player getting off for whacking that POS, Mason Cox.

  10. Sadly, I'm unable to attend to today but watching a bit of Essendon get flogged did improve my mood. I must admit, I hate Darklands  ( it's a soulless [censored] ) so that, combined with The Manor's luxuries, is a good reason to be an armchair expert today.

I expect we will (must) win this game but it won't be a pushover. Norf have some gun kids and if we allow them to get their tails up they will be difficult to rein in.

Their midfield has some class but ours is classier, although Max will likely have it a bit tougher this week. Looking for a big one from Clarrie.

We certainly have a few missing today. I really like watching Windsor's class - he's an emerging champ. However, it looks like we'v e found another one in Lindsay who looked remarkably cool and composed for a debutant. Langford is stiff and I reckon we made a poor decision in starting him as sub last week.

Missing May again hurts but with Petty back where he belongs and Tmac apparently still slurping from the fountain of youth we still look strong down back.

Norf aren't great in defence so it will give our forwards an opportunity to click. I just hope Fritsch doesn't move more than 30 metres from the goal square and that JVR clunks a few in the dry conditions and builds some confidence. The same goes for Jeffo. I noticed that Turner got some bad press on this site but I like his energy and straight kicking. I'm hoping he'll surprise his critics. Trac going forward and kicking a couple will again be crucial.

Anybody else having issues signing in to the Demons app to get their tickets?

When I get to the Demons/Ticketmaster sign-in page, none of the tabs work and it just displays an “Oops, something went wrong” page. Have deleted and reinstalled the app. No joy.

Yep. Had the same problem last week and it’s still there today.

    Not good enough!!!!!

Is this a new record? First game reported and suspended? I liked his effort - that was a bit rough though.

Someone will know for sure but .... my damaged memory recollects that one Peter "Crackers" Keenan was suspended for striking in his first game.

Comments or correction are most welcome.

I'm no great weather forecaster but there is currently some rain and bluster ( not only mine ) at The Manor. This , combined with a look at the radar and an examination of a hapless chook's innards convinces me that inclement conditions will be all gone by this arvo.

  14. It's showtime, and your ever reliable Uncle Bitter is manfully shaking off a number of ailments to head to the G today.

My first action will be to pick up a footy record in order to identify half our team. It's certainly exciting times in terms of team development but we will need these new dees to earn their keep if we are to beat GWS.

It's just as well @picket fence is currently on a beach far away as his presence would be a certain danger to nearby spectators if Jeffo slots one.

Max will be the key to our mids getting first use so I expect we get plenty of opportunities inside 50. The points of interest will be just how and where we deliver it, and who steps up to convert. Kozzie has left a glaring and , no doubt , very costly hole.

Our experienced forwards must lead the way. I'm sure Trac will spend a lot of time forward and I reckon he'll need to kick or create 4 to give us a show. Hopefully Fritter can rediscover some form. JVR is also in for a testing day.

Hopefully, if those experienced players can produce that will ease the pressure and create opportunities for the new faces to hit the scoreboard.

This is a big test first up but geez a win would really kick start our season.

I'm tipping the Dees will surprise and sneak the 4 points.

In any event, the whips will be cracking at The Manor tonight!!!!
