And once again Carlton will go into blindly reactive mode by appointing Ross Lyon. You can just hear the discussion - “What’s the problem with our team?………they’re defensively horrible……..ok, let’s get the most defensive-minded coach of the last 20 years…….is Paul Roos available?……..nope……..call Ross Lyon then…….did he win a flag?……..nope……..ah, doesn’t matter, he will with us, cos we’re Carlton……..okeedokey”.

Great story, WCW. The obvious question though is why? Do you even know, or was it just a vibe? Colours? Players at the time? I’m fascinated… -
Not sure what all this ‘who plays on who’ stuff is about. We play a zone defence.

Surgery is irrelevant if he’s rehabilitated and ready to go. Also, he can play back, forward, wing, he’s just a terrific footballer. Multiple premierships and we’d be getting him for peanuts, so would be crazy not to take him on if he’s keen and fit.

I reckon Clarrie’s lack of votes in previous seasons is telling. Might struggle (also the reason the ‘Coaches votes’ should be the most valued award).

And hit them hard late, and hit them hard in the in-between bits. Surely the ticker gets a rest this week.

As if I needed an excuse to watch the last 30 seconds another 6 times, this be it. Fabulous!

Presumably how I felt at the time, TRIGON. Still do, mostly. -

I was a pre-embryonic zygote, from possibly days old to a couple of weeks. Ah, I remember it well….. -
A prince among footballers, an attitudinal role model, a perfect team man and a natural exemplar of authentic humility.

2021 ABC Footballer of the Year - Clayton Oliver
Webber replied to Wilson7's topic in Melbourne Demons
I’m not sure how you grade ‘elite’. I reckon winning what will end up being most ‘best player in the AFL’ awards this year is elite by definition. If he’s NOT elite, then the AFL doesn’t have anyone who is, surely.- 76 replies

Yep. I played for the Blacks. Same jumper. We wore black socks, Blues wore blue.

Did you not watch the last quarter?

Stole my thoughts, Mazer.

He is the polar opposite. Never makes excuses, never shifts blame, never tries to deflect. He should get more praise for this attitude, particularly as it so patently exposes Scott’s tendency to smug entitlement. Goody acts like his players are entitled to nothing other than respect for effort, which he gives them in spades. Also, he always thinks first and foremost about the supporters. Us.

Was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever seen. It bounced off his chest in sliding desperation. Inconceivable. How my head didn’t explode, or the Umps head by the sheer collective weight of MFC supporter disbelief and anger will remain one of the year’s great mysteries. Mind you, the insufficient intent decision in the last 50 seconds was on the podium. Were both decisions from umpire Stevic?

Obviously that’s ridiculous.

They were both first quarter, and very frustrating, but he learned pretty quickly. He was immense in the last. I love his physicality and contested, competitive buy-in. That was his best game, and pretty much secures him for next week. Well done Tommy!

Don’t do it! For your own sake, your health, your sanity!

They’ll be busy then, cos there were a lot of them. And a lot of throwing from those cats too.

Couldn’t be more right.

Yep, Karma’s a girl dog!
