  1. Yeah some of them are just nasty.

    It wasn't as bad as Brown's, but I remember hearing Steven King's leg smack into Jeff White's face in the final of 2005. It's a creepy thing to hear when you're in the stands.

    Yeah, I was about to post that.

  2. It's mindless, brain numbing entertainment..........but I still like it.

    Garry dancing in a Yo Gabba Gabba outfit last week was comedy........which I'm aware says a lot about my intelligence and maturity, but I still found it funny.

    Yeah, I found that hilarious.

    I mean, they never said it was a serious footy analysis show...

  3. Oh cool, another 10 page Tom Scully thread.

    Didn't he say that he wanted to hold off talks until the end of the season, and increase his value with good second year form?

    That suggests he's trying to get more money out of Melbourne. I can't imagine GWS paying more than $800k a year for him, and he would be likely to get (at the moment) about $300k at Melbourne? Can easily push that up to $400k a year at Melbourne by playing great footy this year. Doubt GWS would do an increase like that. An offer of $800k early this year would turn into $850k, maybe. That's just my opinion, though.

  4. So how many players do they have to delist after their first season? Is it a minimum of three draft picks you've got to take? With that and the reduction of two on the list that's five kids/broken down hacks given the boot at the end of the first year. Wonder if any of the kids will get a run elsewhere. GWS maybe!

    Yep, they'll have to delist five players a season. Plus I think a rookie can only spend two years on the rookie list, they then need to be re-rookied (?), delisted or promoted, which costs another draft pick and another player to be delisted.

  5. Don't really mind the draft fixing for the two new teams, but the salary cap fixing really bugs me.

    Does anybody know how long(how many years) GWS & GC have extra room in their salary caps?

    Gold Coast draft concessions

    2011 - 48 senior list, nine rookies with $1m TPP extra allowance;

    2012 - 46 senior list, nine rookies with $800k TPP extra allowance;

    2013 - 42 senior list, nine rookies with $600k TPP extra allowance;

    2014 - 40 senior list, nine rookies with $400k TPP extra allowance;

    2015 - 38 senior list, nine rookies in line with other AFL clubs.

    The same rules apply for GWS, except pushed back a year, of course.

  6. No matter what happens with you know who, our club should lobby the AFL to ensure that any team which loses a #1 draft selection would be compensated with the first pick in this year's draft. That's a lot fairer than having such a player stolen by GWS for pick 17!

    The response I'll see from the AFL is that if they had to match Tom Scully as a number one pick then they'd have to match Watts, then Kreuzer, Gibbs, Murphy, Deledio and so on. Where would the cutoff be?

    From a realistic and common sense point of view it's unfair not to receive the first pick in the event that he left, but from an AFL point of view, it's unfair to give us the first pick.

  7. B: Harbrow, Garland, Rawlings - Average, good until injured, okay

    HB: Drummond, Pears, Gilbee - Injured, injured, Dogs are crap

    C: Foley, Hodge, Simpson - Patchy, hitting form, good

    HF: Gray, Cloke, Fyfe - Up and down, solid, brilliant

    F: Byrnes, Walker, Milne - Injured, lazy, spud

    R: Mumford, Hayes, Priddis - good, ACL, legendary

    Copying and pasting out of spreadsheets FTW.

  8. Haha. You've had some decent scores RM of late, looks as though your average has increased over the last few rounds. Very good. You'll be hard to beat.

    Well done eth38, appreciate the effort. Got your reply re: Jordie; I'll re-evaluate. - You realise I gave up Simpson for McKernan.... ;)

    You did?

    Well, if you're preparing to offer way more than you should, maybe deals can be done ;)

  9. I think GWS get something like 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15. Something Hideous like that!! i heard Shifter Sheahan talk about it all on SEN a few weeks back.

    GWS get the same concessions, I'm pretty sure, which is picks 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and the first pick of every round afterwards.

    So as it currently stands, we are in line for pick 19.

    Edit: Dammit, ninja'd. And Satan, compensation is decided by...someone I don't know of, but basically there's tiers - first-round pick, end-of-first-round pick, second-round pick, end-of-second-round pick or third-round pick. For the picks not at the end of the round, that pick comes instantly after your pick in that round - e.g. if we finished 8th (pick 19) and used a first-round compensation pick (hypothetically, we currently don't have one) then it would be pick 20, and every pick below us would be pushed back one. So if you finished bottom of the ladder with pick 1, and had a first-round compensation pick, you have the new Scullgove twins. :)

  10. Depends on where you sit. I'm a vocal person at the footy, but I try to make it funny rather than shout obscenities. Worst one I've had in a long time was Friday night - couple of Dons fans who thought every second word had to be f---.

    I'm pretty much the same as you - vocal but not abusive.

    I mean, I'm 15, and I know what's right and wrong and I know what happens when there's people around you swearing at the umpires or players. I find it odd that people twice or three times my age still find it fun to yell loads of profanities when really, they're just making a fool of themselves and they're setting a horrible example for the younger people around them.
