    Thanks all for the comments

    A few things

-we should petition the club to give WCW the media gig. She's already doing a better job then they are at bringing us information (& photos!)

    - one reason for McAdam leaving Adelaide was apparently disagreements with Burgess. We may be seeing why ..

    - disappointing to hear on Jefferson. Everything pointed out aligns with my fears for him.

💯- WCW has a great blend of sass and humility. And a proper grasp of grammar.

  2. Maybe clubs should be restricted as to how many of their academy kids they can bid on each draft. Gold Coast pick up 3 top 15 picks in this draft and another at 26. They could do that each year: bring through the best 3 or 4 players in Queensland and pay nothing for them. There’s no way clubs get 3 or 4 gun F/S selections each year. I’m all for the equality of the competition, but surely GC and GWS have had enough concessions now?

  3. I’d imagine they’d look at him predominantly as a Casey player - a bit like Dunstan was. I actually like the strategy of putting 2 or 3 quality senior guys with good habits at Casey, to bring through our new recruits. It means that the young guns get a good role model on their line, to learn from, whilst keeping Casey strong.

Agree, we are the opposite. Trying to turn tomorrow’s unknown dollars into todays known ones.

Yes - our recruiting/trading strategy is getting the best picks players in the current draft and letting the next year wait until next year. Obviously, the exception is when a player (ie Jackson) is traded out and we have to negotiate future picks, but generally we very much look at the present.

  5. From what I have observed over the past two seasons, our team seems to be playing under a heavy burden: there’s not a lot of ‘lightness’ around the place. I wonder if the culture agenda has been over-thought at the expense of players simply enjoying footy under a good system, as in 2021.

I don’t hold out great hope for 2024 - I think the Clarry situation will not easily be resolved, in terms of him being back to his previous best. I know we’re not supposed to mention the war, but I think what’s needed for 2024 is a united team, playing with a bit of freedom.

I have watched this about 150 times. One of the ultimate highlight goals in my opinion. I was also there that day and screamed so much I think I lost my voice for a few day. That whole link of play was magnificent to watch. ❤️💙

I honestly tear up each time I watch that. That was maybe the best goal I’ve witnessed in terms of the absolute limbs when he put it through. It was symbolic on so many levels: his Queen’s Birthday retribution (was it his last one?) and he cast off the massive weight on his shoulders - you could tell by the look on his face: part sheer exhaustion and part walking on air.

His desire to spend more time with his family seems genuine and was addressed by Tim Lamb in his press conference.

"We'll work with him to make sure that's a better situation for him."

Yes - that’s what I understood as well. Less homesickness, but more wanting to see his family more regularly. If they are from country SA, 5 hrs out of Adelaide, then it would be difficult to get to games. I’m sure the club will now organise for his family to come over more, which is great for everyone.

Sounds like the sort of thing someone says, that gets quoted back to them after Jake and Harry carve up every defence in the comp. Providing they can stay fit, I think they could be a fantastic combination: both young, aggressive players who like a tackle, can mark and kick well.

Adelaide trade pick 10 , Riley Tilthorpe , McAdam to Melbourne for  Petty , pick 11 and a future first rounder. We still do have enough currency to get the number one pick.

Overs - not sure why people are keen to give Petty away so cheaply. Even if Petty was up for trade, McAdam shouldn’t even come into the equation.

I agree with Corn on this one, except there is no Key Forward around to replace Petty with

But he is right on one thing. Petty will never have this draft worth again.
But we need him in 2024, even if he leaves next year

Why not? If he smashes it next year and signs, say, a two year extension to his current contract, his draft worth will be through the roof.

I see what Cornes is saying, but his argument is flawed - especially when he suggests going after Gunston, as a replacement. Makes no sense - Petty is an emerging talent, Gunston is in the last year or two of his career and dropped himself last season due to poor form.
