Maybe, but for them to represent indigenous footballers in this game is a great honour... so I am really pleased for them; besides, I can't really see that Richmond side being capable of inflicting anything, much less injury, on anyone.

Agree with that. Blacktown is 40km from Sydney CBD, less than an hour via the M2 going against the traffic which would normally be the case. Sure driving from Manly or Bondi is not on but there's got to be plenty of desirable places to live between Blacktown and Sydney. HT could probably provide some recommendations.

Hey, I'm not recommending any locations at all for Scully :-)

(but on the quiet, my area of Dulwich Hill is quite nice as are other inner west locations such as Summer Hill, Stanmore, Petersham etc - all of which have relatively easy access to the motorway.)

Then again, Tom Scully is one Demon who does live out near Casey and I reckon he might also be happy to live with or near his family for a few more years yet.

I certainly hope you are right WJ... I for one don't want to see him living up here :-) Hopefully Jimmy and the Boys (now there's a Sydney reference we can apply) can get him to sign sooner rather than later, so as to avoid the same disquiet that unsettled the Cats last season.

One of the things we have going for us is the fact that nobody in their right mind would voluntarily want to live in that part of the world even if they were paid squillions. I know the environment and it's not all that good. If I were a young professional footballer at that time of my sporting life I'd be worried about starting my career in West Sydney.

WJ, how many Dees players live out near Casey? How many live close to the MCG? I would guess that there would not be too many on both counts. Travel is always an issue for players, so why would GWS be any different? With the road systems in place, there is no need for any player to live in close proximity to the GWS ground out west.

To a person in their early 20's, I would think that the idea of living in Sydney could be a very attractive prospect. And before you say that I may be biased in my views because I live in Sydney, I would much rather live in Melbourne but am unfortunately "trapped" due to family and work committments... but I do still remember how I was drawn to the place when I was much younger.

My only interstate trip will be in round 4 against the Gold Coast.

Apparently announced to playing group at training this morning.

On Demonland someone who was at the training said there was a lot of handshaking going on and it was considered by weight of numbers that Davey had the captaincy (that is, there seemed to be more shaking of Davey's hand than of Green's) - so it at least looks like Green and Davey are getting the nod, but who is Capt and who is VC is not yet clear.

Maybe someone should be starting up a Facebook page - get enough "likes" and it might get some consideration - have seen it work before.

I would think Sheedy might be trying to attract the Rugby League and Union followers with something akin to the 7-a-side competitions both of those codes ran. Not sure if the Union 7's are still going (used to be/are still played in Hong Kong), but am pretty sure the League 7's have gone the way of the dodo. Sure it might be a great spectacle, but with the injuries we now see due to the increased pace of our game, I would hate to think what could happen in an even faster (I assume) 11-a-side game.

Speaking of deflated cutomers...... in the news this week the revelation of the sus financial practices and dubious benefits of a company fLogging erectile disfunction treatments. Yes, THAT ONE !

They must feel a bit hard done by. A little stiff to get singled out like that, but it's yet to be seen if the ACCC's case will stand up in a court of law.

What do I expect? Oh I don't know, perhaps one game against Sydney every year or so actually played in Sydney rather than having it played in Canberra? Yes, the odds have increased with GWS joining the comp in 2012, so in can celebrate the fact it might (and I stress the word 'might') only be 5 years between drinks... not bad considering we pay the same membership (I believe).

Hey, try being a Sydney based member... we haven't had a game here for three seasons I think it is, and won't have one next year either. If I want to see the guys go around, I have to invest in accommodation and airfares :-(
