  1. Firstly, I can't believe that it was actually looked at by Match review Panel.

Of course they would have to review it... there was the potential for a very serious injury.

Secondly, did this count as 1 tackle (3 blokes tackling 1 bloke = 1 act of tackling) or 3 tackles (3 blokes performing a tackle = 3 tackles)?????????

Are you one of those people being talked about in this discussion that phone into SEN? ;-)

In "On the Couch" tonight it was discussed very briefly and it was simply suggested that the players need to be aware of what they are doing and to understand the possibility is there to do a serious injury. It was suggested that this is a sign of a new tougher Dees as a reaction to their first round drubbing.

  2. I would think we should be keeping Newton in for this week... I get the feeling that part of the reason for Petterd's good showing was that Newton took some of the heat off him (don't ask me why, but I think there is still this perception that he can be a damaging forward). The upside of keeping him there is that if Adelaide turn their focus on Petterd, then all of a sudden Newton does become a genuine option. Just a thought :)

  3. We have Jamar - but how long will he last or will he be the answer ? (Jury is out); Meesen ? PJ ? and a young Spencer ? Martin ? Not sure with any of them holding their own, let alone being dominant.

Big question marks as far as I'm concerned.

It's even more of a concern watching the likes of Kreuzer grow into the game.

Gawn, but in this case, forgotten? Once recovered and able to start the hard work. Also, I imagine Fitzpatrick may one day turn out to be something.

  4. It is quite easy to deal with the problem, either ignore the post, so it sits there with 0 replies, end of problem, or take the [censored] and then ignore, they soon get sick of being ignored, they may be sociopathic but they need the attention also

Would be nice if it was just a single post, but he is doing it on almost every single thread in the Footy Forum, and every time a moderator removes the offending post, or any time someone adds a comment relevant to the thread, he posts again to ensure maximum disruption.

  5. I doubt it'd be the end of demonology, but things will change pretty quick when they realise there's nowhere for them all to go.

Actually, I believe he has considered pulling the plug in the past, and today's particularly nasty episode may just be the proverbial straw. And I suppose the relevance here is that the poster under discussion is a member of Demonland as well (or so he says), and given the sociopathic nature of his attacks, there is no reason he may not take the same route on this site given the right (or wrong) set of circumstances.

  6. I think your eyes did deceive you as they had the two McDonalds on the back flanks and Jordie on the bench. This as has been mentioned was a squad, not an official team list.

I know it wasn't the official list... and I am positive he was on the flank (his name appeared on the left towards the middle of the team layout). The reason I mentioned it was that if they are posting a "possible" team, he seemed a strange choice to put in the starting line-up given he will need to be elevated from the rookie list.

  7. At this very moment, 2:40pm Thursday, Demonology is tearing itself apart. The manager is apparently very ill and there is a vicious flaming dispute going on between two members. There's very little on there about football and some members appear to be considering jumping ship. One member appears to be flaming vehemently in any thread that goes up. Hard to see it lasting if that keeps up.

That member was banned for life recently after an out-of-control spate of posts, but as there is no way of enforcing the ban other than a site administrator removing his posts as and when they appear, there is no way of stopping him. Sadly, unless something is done, that could spell an end to Demonology which I think would be grossly unfair to Tim, who has dedicated himself to the site whenever his health has allowed.

  8. I mostly liked the YM, I thought he was harmless & fun.

"mostly" being the operative word :) He could be harmless and fun, but he also had quite a nasty vindictive streak that occasionally surfaced. I suppose he was like a fine wine... looks great while it's on the shelf, but once the cork is out it can go off pretty quickly.

  9. There are some of us oldies over here, but I think, far fewer younguns over there.

The narrow veiw point is not really aimed so much at the age bracket, but IMO, a more conservative aptitude o' yonder.

    Welcome 'hardtack'...

    Thanks for the welcome D-L.

One thing which both sites do have in common (and I am not so sure that is a good thing) is Yze-Magic :)

  10. Also the members over their seem to be more mature of age generally, and unfortunately fairly narrow veiwed & inadventurous in their thinking.

'land has more youth & a stronger aptitude for exploring different ideas.

Funny, being new on here and having been on Demonology for a few years, I actually thought there seemed to be more of the "older brigade" (of which I am one, by the way) on here. I think that the "narrower and inadventurous" comment is a bit unfair, as that has little to do with age in my opinion.

Demonology is possibly a little less "administrated" than Demonland and as such can get a little anarchic from time to time... which is not necessarily a bad thing by the way :-) Unfortunately due to the fact that the owner of the site has been ill and unable to complete work on the site upgrade (although I have heard that is to be done soon), it has meant that it has not been possible for new members to join up and so discussions are tending to stagnate; on the other hand it has meant that administrators have been unable to impose bans on intentionally disruptive posters.

Being new here I am enjoying the serious discussions and the regularity of comments and the general optimism (although I'm sure I will see a different side over time)... having said that I love the cameradery of Demonland and the humour and the no holds barred nature of some discussions. I just wish they could get more on board and the ability to eject the trolls when they appear.

  11. I think this is what happens when Sydneysiders write articles on footy (I'm just going to hope that the source: The Age doesn't actually mean it's an article from the Age).

That statement may have had some validity a few years ago, but certainly dos not ring true anymore. Like myself, many many Sydneysiders were not always Sydneysiders (I grew up in Melbourne).

  12. I notice that most posts seem to be talking about recurring injuries, strengthening of ligaments, etc etc... but is there any possibility that this could have been a freak occurrence that can be put down to the way he landed and it is something that may not happen again? Is it possible that the time being taken by the club is in looking closely at sucvh a possibility with surgery as a last resort?

I am certainly no expert on such matters, but I thought I would throw my thoughts out there in the face of the current bout of negativity :)

  13. Liam Jurrah will have surgery this week and its hoped a mid season return for the elusive second year player

Wondering where this bit of information has come from... nothing on the AFL's MFC site, nothing in the Age's Real Footy, not even a Tweet from Schwabbie.
