  1. No, bottom five have to do a stint of moderation here on Demonland
  2. I gues that's the difference between a true supporter and a fair-weather supporter.
  3. https://twitter.com/jamesfrawley8/status/390390248917569536/photo/1
  4. Actually, I think that was what he was about to do... I just didn't want to spoil the dramatic effect of my post by stating that.
  5. Yeah, know what you mean... I just saw Frawley tweeting a photo of himself lazing around on his back in Paris, resting before heading up the Eifel Tower... hope to god that they delist him asap.
  6. And with those 12 simple words, this site just moved from a PG to an MA15+ rating.
  7. Yep... and essentially, we cannot lose on this one... either we get a deal where a club pays overs for pick 2, or we keep it and get the best available in the psd. Win, win!
  8. If it was to be a former player the club was going to look at (Ling, Black, etc), I would like to see us give Brett Kirk another year at Freo and see what sort of an impact he is having... if they make consecutive GF's, you would have to think he is doing something right and you would have to think he is a fast learner. That experience would be invaluable and in my opinion, must put him a long way ahead of the likes of Ling and Black.
  9. They usually include their number in their autograph... does the one you can't decipher have a number? (if not it might be the boot-studder or the bugler).
  10. yes, but in 12 to 24 months we may not have that opp again... what harm can it do to add him to the rookie list with a view to the future (how old is he?).
  11. Nahas is one of those players that would make the ideal sub... he is very fast, not afraid of getting hurt, and is a very creative goal sneak. I have always liked his game and cannot understand the lack of love here.
  12. Hang on a moment! Am I the only one seeing this? First we have Jay Clarke a reporter who makes stuff up; then we have Mr Clark Kent, a Demonland poster who makes stuff up; and finally, Clark Kent was a reporter for the Daily Planet. Suddenly everything makes sense!!
  13. I do understand what you are saying, but surely it should be equated to the money that a player is on relative to their team mates? That is, was Sylvia one of our higher paid players? If so, then we are losing a highly valued player. I may be thick when it comes to such things, but I really cannot understand why the amount offered to a player should in any way affect the compensation levels for the club losing the player.
  14. At least Neeld used them with consistency ;-)
  15. Not Lisa Wilkinson, was it?
  16. Hopefully the AFL doesn't work to a strict formula and that they take certain intangibles into account (this compo system is now only in its second year and they are surely still tweaking it)... the impact of a player's loss should play a significant part, and it could easily be said that Sylvia's loss will have a far greater impact on the MFC than Thomas' loss will have on the CFC. Not only are we losing a player who was showing form in the second half of the year, but we are losing one of our more experienced players and therefore the impact on the young playing group will be more significant. The other thing I am hoping for is that the AFL will see this as a chance to give a little back after dangling the prospect of a PP in front of us and then taking it away... after all, they are not entirely against us as has been proven with the assistance package, the installing of PJ and, I am guessing, their not insignificant help in getting Roos across the line.
  17. rumour threads are to Demonland posters, as Parliamentary privilege is to politicians.
  18. Um, ok... you do realise that that particular Facebook page is possibly a less reliable source of information than the Trade/Draft Rumour Mill topic on this very forum.
  19. A quick question... am I right in assuming that the compensation picks will be announced on Monday 21st so they can still be factored into trades if required?
  20. We hold all of the cards in this situation... as I said in another post, if they are getting desperate towards the end of the trade period, then they will offer as much as it takes (so we should stand firm)... however, with the state of play re infraction notices, I doubt we would be game enough to gamble on taking what they might offer.
  21. As I understand it, Essendon can still trade for higher picks... they just lose their allocated picks.
  22. This has all been discussed ad-infinitum in the "The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill" topic, but essentially, we cannot lose with pick 2. If it doesn't get the player that the MFC want, then it gets used in the draft and we get the best possible mid available. If we hold off long enough during the trade period and there is a club in desperate need of pick 2, then obviously they will do what they have to in order to get it done, and we will get what we want. I honestly can't say I have noticed any criticism of us in the media for lack of action (but then again, I don't listen to SEN or Trade Radio)... besides, if that was the case, then there are a lot of other clubs that must be coming under the same criticism as only about 6 deals (if I recall correctly) have been done to date. The main reason we have failed to attract quality players to the club so far in this trade period is that there have been no quality players available that we can afford (remind me how many have been traded so far or even gone in free agency). Personally, I am not bothered by our inactivity in the slightest. If we do not trade pick 2 and we go to the draft, then we will get the best mid available (and that may well be one ready to roll from game one) so we will be securing our future; it's not as if we can expect to be playing finals next year (and please don't use the Port or WCE examples as they are more the exception than the rule). If Roos and his crew do their jobs well and we show marked improvement during season 2014, then we will have far more success in convincing free agents and players looking for trades, that we are a worthwhile destination... until we have runs on the board, then we do not deserve their interest... it's as simple as that.
